Im sure the people who voted for O'Dumbass will say health care since they will benefit and get the free handout from the bill.

Ok you have officially confused yourself- well done. I never said anything about caring or not caring about the military. OF COURSE I care about the military. For the record, if there were a draft I would be proud to serve my country to protect our ideals. However, don't lie to me, you did not join the military so "people like me don't get drafted". You joined because (a) you're proud of your country and (b) it's excellent employment. One of those benefits of employment is a pension in retirement, which most Americans do not have anymore (especially in the private sector) as we continually move away from a corporate management culture that values it's employees and appreciates loyalty and tenure to their employer.

I did not vote for Obama, in fact, as I thought his programs in theory were too progressive. I did not vote for McCain, either, as quite frankly the thought of Palin as the President if McCain were to pass (a real possibility at his age and condition) scared me.

Well I know my cousin is getting out of the military in less than a year after just a few years in it, one year in Iraq (no small deal), and he'll be going to college on our dime and having a stipend.

It's a valiant and honorable path to choose...and not one I would certainly choose...but it's the idea that Nascar is totally against handouts, while b*tching that his handout didn't increase this year to his satisfaction that is what gets people going. Nobody here will be caught saying that these people don't deserve to be taken care of for their service...quite the opposite, but it's the fact that people like Nascar are so intellectually dishonest about their pension/health care/cost of living increases etc, while bemoaning anyone who gets a f*cking dime from the government is what borders on comical, because it's just a repeated chorus of "hey where is MY handout?!?!?!" against "hey wait, no WAY do YOU get a handout!"

i believe the gi bill requires contributions from the serviceman, i don't think it's totally govt funded. as for going to college 'on our dime' it's part of the deal, certainly something i wouldn't argue about paying for. what gets me are the guys who go in, and then complain or go awol because they get orders to the front, and don't want to go. 'i joined for college, not to fight'.

When have I said im totally against handouts? Im against people who can work but dont want to look for work. I do thank you for having respect for the miltary its nice to see that someone understands what the military goes through. If a person cant work because of medical conditions they should be taken care of. As I have said many times if you can work but you dont want to look for a job then why should that individual get the handout? How am I getting a handout? Did I not give up 20 years of my life so there is no draft? I earned my benefits of retirement. Just because there are many jealous people at what I have and they dont have I think is funny.

The major thing about this bill I am totally against is why should a person that can work get this insurance if they aren't trying to look for a job? Not once have I said that a person who has a medical condition shouldn't be taken care of. Its nice to see how people are trying to make me look like to be a bad guy. I am also totally against the illegals getting any part of this insurance.

I don't argue paying for it either, don't argue having health care for them, hell, I don't argue having pensions for them if that's the case. But it's when someone is getting a good deal of government money, for ANY reason, decides that they're the only one worthy of getting a dime of it...that's when it gets ugly.
