It did. But doing the right thing is not top priority in this sport.

Couldn't agree more but happy for jim

Now all we need is California's Chrome's owner to start talking.

ranger5830 11-01-2014 08:01 PM

If that was the 3rd race on Thursday afternoon he would have come down for sure, IMHO.

Mark Henning just had a classic tweet:

"My experience is that anything short of pulling a gun is legal leaving the gate. #justsayin"

I would have not have lost my **** if I was taken down.. Having said that I think it is rare for a horse to get DQ'D for something that happened at the start.

Great hit, Jim.

I was on Bayern a couple times this year. Unfortunately I have horrible short term memory and obviously forgot how the track was playing today.

Oh well.

herkhorse 11-01-2014 08:05 PM

he changed the race dynamic by crushing his main rivals

MaTH716 11-01-2014 08:12 PM

Congrats Jim, but he should have came down.

I know I didn't use Bayern or Moreno for the fact that I expected a duel up front. Now the horse ran huge, but him coming over 3 paths at the start eliminated Shared Belief and took out Moreno totally changing the dynamics of the race.

And for Shared Belief to run 4th after the trouble he encountered makes me think that the horse is a true monster.

herkhorse 11-01-2014 08:12 PM

shared belief ran huge

had Moreno not been impeded the outcome would have been different

Let's be honest, watching that reply, Bayern made his own early lead here. He really should be DQ'd.

Well said. This is BC G1 and not some maiden race with inexperienced horses and bug riders. if it was out of cali, he gets taken down. Completely took moreno and Shared Belief out of the race.

And that is why people are so pissed, and the stewards are insulting horseplayers intelligence when they say "it didn't affect the final result"

If you bet Toast of New York, whom I thought should be 100/1 and was 18/1, you are one salty individual

Kitan 11-01-2014 08:23 PM

Andy nailed it on the head with this tweet: We talk so much, and rightfully so, about safety, and then encourage dangerous behavior with decisions like that.

mm1019 11-01-2014 08:33 PM

I made a nice win bet 2 save my weekend on Bayern but after watching replay he should have come down, Garcia is known for this kinda of stuff.

Pants II 11-01-2014 08:37 PM

Mountaineer 7
$20 win 8

Very true. Does anyone know who the stewards were at the BC ? Are they Cali stewards, or are stewards hired from other jurisdicions. ? This is total BS, it wasnot a maiden race with green horses and riders. :wf

ADJMK 11-01-2014 09:21 PM

to add insult to injury the judges will probably give Garcia days for careless riding

I would have understood if he was taken down but like I said before it is rare for a horse to get taken down for something that happens at the start. With the exception of the juvenile which was an absolute freak show the track has played extremely kind to those on the front end all week. As usual it was set up for Baffert on a big day.
