I'm just glad to see the Rachel roadshow continue. She has now raced in more states this year than zenyatta has raced in her entire career. Shipping all the way to Kentucky, only to scratch on the day that Rachel is crowned the queen with a romp in the Oaks, doesn't count. zenyatta's connections weren't scared of the rainy conditions that day - they were scared of being outshined by Rachel Alexandra.

She missed a state earlier this year if you want to be be anal about it, let's not be too selective here, quite challenging racing state to state, especially if one travels from N.Y to N.J or Louisiana to Louisville.

what does it matter? honestly, i really wish both these horses would either do something worth talking about, or retire. rachel this year is nothing compared to last year. her competition this year isn't on par, neither are her performances. admittedly, last year would be a hard year to duplicate. her campaign this year leaves much to be desired.

and yes, it can be. a variety of surfaces is definitely more of a challenge than racing over one or two. but you know that.

By this logic, I commend the connections of Quality Road and Summer Bird for attempting to try pro-ride last year, and for the one that didn't. I'll leave that up to whomever wants to view reality through rose colored glasses.

i commend them as well. they definitely could have used another good race on their resume, it's a shame it didn't work out for them. and looking thru rose colored glasses is similar imo to those who look purely thru biased ones, who won't give some their due because they're afraid it will detract from others.

So what are you looking through with Zenyatta? Did someone take a giant rose colored vase and just plant it over your head? Probably restricts the oxygen. We should call somebody for you. :p (I kid. Sort of. Ish.)

Sorry, I really am because it's really painful to be still talking about this; however the only time I bring it up, present tense is when someone uses some contradictory argument. As for them meeting in the future, not unless Jess enters her in the Classic and observing the way they have mapped out her campaign this year, it doesn't look likely it will ever happen. But who knows Jess is especially kooky this year, and his Schizophrenia may kick in at any time.

Danzig 07-25-2010 11:36 AM

i doubt they ever meet. altho the fans may want it, it seems the owners don't.

the_fat_man 07-25-2010 11:37 AM

It's heartwarming how the RA fans rally round their Horse of the Year after yet another meaningless win. It's almost as if each of these wins somehow erases the fact that she was a NO SHOW when it counted. Didn't make the trip. Too busy licking her wounds after LITTLE Z jacked her up in LA. Then again, not showing up is why she's still around today. I mean :

"We're not going to run," Mitchell said. "I blew her out at Hollywood Park and I brought her down here and she's body sore and stiff. If I were to blame it on anything, I'd blame it on taking on Zenyatta."

It was precisely fear of the above that caused ASSMan and Jackson to soil their pants at the thought of honoring their commitment and showing up at OP.

ha ha ha

She did, however, get a 110; or 105; or 102; or whatever the **** ---- she's STILL FASTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

altho some may have enjoyed it, i doubt most horse fans did. it was a meaningless, prove nothing win. but rehashing last year and continuing ad nauseaum about oaklawn does nothing to show you're an unbiased critic of what is actually occurring. your same song, 17th verse is no more helpful than reading the few who acutally thought yesterdays race was a good showing, or an effort by the 'real' rachel. you're a real laugh riot of the paddock.

no, neither wants to. not sure why the onus falls only on jackson. there have been opportunities for these horses to meet. why it's ok for the mosses to refuse to ship, but not jackson is beyond me. oh, wait. i know why. it's because those who are firmly in one camp refuse to see the situation clearly. and that goes for either camp.

As per DRF, someone else else found it hard to believe as well ...

Figure has been adjusted to 105 ..

110 or 105 or... well just get 'em where you want over there at the ol' drf.

I really hope she runs in the Personal Ensign.

miraja2 07-25-2010 07:29 PM

Perhaps people could divide into the Blind Luck "camp," and the Devil May Care "camp" and argue about those two for awhile. It probably isn't worth arguing about, but at least that would be something different.

I'm utterly bored with the big two and their completely unexciting 2010 campaigns.

If they commit to it, then there's no reason for Zenyatta not to come. Hell, it's 10 furlongs, which all the Zentards have repeatedly said RA couldn't last against Big Z.

I would rather Zenyatta NOT come. I am looking forward to betting against Rachel in that race.

I think she looked like crap Saturday.

This is good thought, I would actually be inclinded to bet against Todds horse, who continues to get soft leads, or catch speed favoring tracks.

Maybe Jackson will insist it be shortened to 9 furlongs to accomodate Rach, you know par for the course, then we might have a shot of it happening.

it really is a shame...too much talk about rachel and her effort, but nothing mentioned about devil may care, who i thought looked terrific yesterday.

Travis Stone 07-25-2010 11:15 PM

My thoughts on the two have been clear... Rachel Alexandra was HOTY last year hands down. Zenyatta's lack of travel this year is as disappointing to me as her lack of a HOTY trophy was for her fans in January.

This all said... unless Steve A. is working some funky new training regime, Rachel Alexandra does not appear nearly as fast as she was last year. Does the Rachel of last spring/summer only win the Lady's Secret by a few lengths? No way. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

But can Devil May Care dance before the race like Zenyatta?!? :)

visually her races haven't been up to last years par. but last year was a remarkable year for her-any horse probably would have a tough time duplicating the efforts she put forth last year.

neither is having a banner year compared to last year. lack of travel for the one, lack of stout competition; lack of 'wow' for the other....leaves much to be desired from both.

probably not! poor horse....:D

ever try to run far in 100 degree heat? You might not run the way you do normally.

slotdirt 07-26-2010 08:26 AM

I don't know, she won by three in a handride and got a 105 Beyer in 100 plus degree heat. How badly did she really run? Granted, those were a bunch of tomato cans out there, but it's not like the thing was in doubt.

I think you are mistaken Antitrust, I don't know if you have noticed lately but I rarely mention Rachel in Zenyatta conversations of late; however I do notice it is one of the favorite past times of the Rachelites here. I don't know why you would say I am doing a Riot(excuse me I've seen the name but who is this poster?) and SO who does his thing here, which in my opinion is a healthy balance to the fanclub that once was so bullish a year ago. Fact is I've moved on, I corrected Danzig when she said both didn't seem to want to meet, when infact Moss shipped in to the Apple Blossom and Jackson backed out. This is a fact, you know this, I don't see why you would infer it is not true. Furthermore Jess knows where to find Moss later this year, the ball is in his vacillating court.

I think its pretty obvious that both owners are sissies.

And you are a much better poster than Riot, sorry for that. (got to check out politics to find out about her brilliance)

Riot easily outdistances Smooth Operator and CSC as worst posters here.

Actually, CSC is ok. Just misguided.

I'm still uncertain just how serious Smooth Operator is.

Riot, there is not a single good thing to say about her.

yeah, you corrected me...i know full well about the apple blossom, i also know it wasn't the one race last year or this in which they could have faced off. i know that anyone who wants to consider themselves knowledgeable about horse racing wouldn't go on and on about rachel 'backing out' of that race. anyone who follows this sport understands exactly why she didn't run, that she was up against it to make the race at all, regardless of competition, and that jess jackson showed himself to be none too smart regarding horses when he aimed for the race! it was an almost impossible undertaking, yet you and two others on here continue to believe that there were dark, sinister forces at work there-when in fact it was all about a horse who had been on the shelf for months, and could in no way be ready for the needed effort after that layoff. jess jackson was an idiot for even making the attempt. the mosses have been no more keen to take on stiff competition this year than jackson. zenyattas races prove that just as much as rachels.

Conditions were agreed upon, race was moved back to accomodate Jess, tell me had they moved it back 3 months would it have made a difference with what we are seeing of her today? Logic seems to escape her fanclub.
