This is getting pretty wild. Any chance Baffert wants to try Freedom Fighter around two turns for the first time in the Derby?

Trainer seems to have conferred with owner about scratching horse but didn't confer with him about the excuse.

John Ed Anthony quoted as saying the horse is "a little off".

Edit: On second thought, I guess you can interpret that in a number of ways.

Funny thing is that in the March 7 Future Wager pool, I bet on Proxy (41-1) and Spielberg (63-1), while my friend bet on Rombauer (109-1) and Concert Tour (17-1). All have the points to qualify for the race, but all have opted out. Maybe the CDC approved a vaccine for Derby Fever??

The connections of the Oaks winner have talked about running in one of the two remaining TC races, more like the Belmont than the Preakness. The owner says he would have really been interested in running in the Derby.

She might’ve finished 10th tomorrow. They definitely made the right choice.

How many Old-Fashiond's in was he when he made that statement.

Well, you know Pletcher ran a filly in the race the same year he won with Super Saver. Ran Rags to Riches again Curlin. So he's not scared. Also, it's not like the boys have been running some great figures to scare away anyone.

She was life and death in the Ashland and Oaks. Can’t they at least run the Derby before you have her winning it?

Is it simply coincidence that this is the 30th anniversary of this near-tragic turn of events (considering the epic Mother Goose that subsequently took place)?
