I would think anybody invited would go. What do you have to lose?? Losing to either of these is not a suprise, and if something flukey happens and you win, how impressive would that be?

Plus, what's 5th place worth here, $100,000? That's better than winning some big stake races!!

I don't think too many connections would pass on this opportunity.

Doubt it, to his credit, USC is trash and he still hangs around the sports room.

Smooth Operator 02-12-2010 12:00 PM

Pressure must've gotten to Jackson

Should've waited a few more months before jumping into the DEEP end

I'll bet Asmussen soiled his boxers when he got the news

Fat Rachel gunna need more than one easy prep to get fit and tough enough to hold off the great western MONSTER…

Coach Pants 02-12-2010 12:02 PM

I'll bet you'd eat his boxers.

Rachel's 3rd work:

http://www.drf.com/news/article/110747.html

Many Others 02-12-2010 01:01 PM

was a good work for RA - mebbe they'll be spraying Z with a big ole fire hose to recreate what the conditions could possibly be like at Hot Springs on April 9th, further move into April the more likelihood of heavy rain rain rain lol...

Led on a pony by Steve Asmussen's assistant trainer Scott Blasi, and with regular exercise rider Dominic Terry aboard, Rachel Alexandra went to the track, which had standing water in places, at 6:30 a.m., and put in one of only two works recorded at Fair Grounds for the day. She covered five furlongs in 1:03.80, with the wind and rain blowing steadily against her in the stretch.

I think with that purse structure they will fill the field? Will Life is Sweet be tempted? 3rd is 500k.. That Repent filly out of Florida is worthy of a shot. I havent heard what is up with Careless Jewel and see she isnt working so I guess she is out.

Sightseek 02-12-2010 01:14 PM

They said they were going to give Sweet Repent a break. Of course they now have several million reasons not to now.

The author refers to her fractions as "pedestrian."

That is a real reason to show up, its like winning a G2 for 150k might as well accept the invite and hope a few dont show up right? Sweet Repent is fairly close on her BSF 3rd and they nail 500k down. Lael or somebody should buy her..Good luck in a few minutes.

What part of the words "other sport" confused you?

OK, what part of "Friday afternoon" confused you?

I don't mean to bust your chops (OK, I do), but it is kind of nice if people actually respond to what you write.
