Always a little odd to see a team like San Fran lead the division, but yet still have a negative run differential.

Of the other 5 divisions, the smallest margin in run differential is +20 by the Texas Rangers in the AL West. San Fran leads the NL West, but is -4

Yeah. Was asked last week to play golf today, so I took a personal day off so that I could and then the c*cksuckers change their minds and are playing tomorrow. Just hanging out until 1:30 til I go get Amelia.:{>::{>:

David Ortiz with easily the worst mound charge this side of Robin Ventura I've ever seen.

Alabama Stakes 07-08-2011 09:57 PM

Phil Bradley charging the mound against Al Nipper was a huge mistake by the 6'3" slugger

That was just stupidity on both players parts.
Really, who the F*ck is Kevin Gregg and who gives a s.hit what he thinks? He's a nobody.
As far as Papi goes, pitchers are allowed to pitch inside. Deal with it and stop being such a bitch.

:tro::tro:

Fine work. I am sick of players in their body armor crowding the plate only to bitch, whine and pose like a tough guy when somebody misses the inside corner by a fraction of an inch.

For two roidheads, Gregg and Ortiz couldn't make contact to save their lives. Seriously, those two looked like they wanted to hug each other more than throw punches. WHere's Robert Fick when you need him?

The fact that he turns 32 in May makes it even worse than just overpaying. he had his best season this past year but at age 32 in a theoretically lesser juiced era there probably isnt much more improvement coming.

The average Jason werth season is .280 with 25 HR and 90 Rbi's
He has some defensive versitility as he can play center adequately

Washington has some talented guys coming through the system and have done a much better job drafting like tampa did in their rise to promeninence. But they never made a terrible deal like this that 4 years from now when Washington may be good they will be saddled with a 36 year old guy with so so power in decline making 20+ million a year, and still have 3 years left.

Jason Werth 2011
.229 avg
.333 obp
.391 slg
18 HR's
53 rbi's
24 2bs
.725 OPS
60 runs
16 sb

6 more years lol

Would you pay Fielder? I don't think the Crew has a shot to keep him, but would you pay him $20-25mil for 6-8yrs?

Nothing to do with Werth,
But what the hell is the story with Joe Mauer? I know he has had some leg issues, he has 2 hr's and is getting 23 million a year until 2018? It can't all be the stadium, right?

slotdirt 09-07-2011 11:07 AM

If I were a team who had that kind of dough, I would.

Tigers have something like $25 million coming off the payroll this year. Should be players in various free agents.

The Rays desperately need offense at catcher. With Barlett gone, SS depth can't hurt.

•Chris Archer, RHP, Rays (Triple-A Durham): 7 IP, 8 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K. A disappointment for most of the year but finishing with a flurry; one run allowed in two Triple-A starts. 9/2

Chris Archer, RHP, Rays (Double-A Montgomery): 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 4 K. Control continues to be the only issue, as the stuff to be a good big league starter is there. 8/17

top 50 minor league prospects ranking as of 8/6
19. Hak-Ju Lee, SS, Rays (Preseason: NR)
Has exploded with the Rays by hitting for average, drawing walks, stealing bases, and playing a solid shortstop with an outstanding arm. Shortstops that can hit at the top of the order are worth their weight in gold.

Acquired in the Matt Garza trade, Chirinos is the third piece of the return to reach the majors for the Rays this season, joining Sam Fuld and Brandon Guyer. At first blush, Chirinos’ .265/.341/.378 line appears mediocre, but if you break it down month-by-month he looks better:

April: .176/.253/.191
May: .333/.380/.424
June: .256/.344/.385
July: .324/.419/.622

Brandon Guyer, OF, Rays (Triple-A Durham): 4-for-4, 2 2B, 4 R, R, BB, SB. Has been slumping of late, but still hitting .316/.390/.513 overall in 76 games.

So far looking great for the Rays

Obviously it depends on the team but a 6 years at 25, yeah i'd do it

He has been hurt all year
He will bounce back though moving him from behind the plate does take away from his value even if it may keep him healthier

As brutal as Garza has been, it looks like a no brainer (right now). The Rays rarely miss on their trades which is why the Cubs are rumored to making a run at Andrew Friedman. I don't think Friedman would leave for anything less than the Yankees job. He'll (hopefully) stay loyal to Stu Sternberg and stay.

Garza has been brutal? His ERA is currently the lowest of his career.
