Raid Mom's purse? Not as easily as you steal from poperty tax payers. And EAUXH! wouldn't it be swell for your students parents to know their kiddies teacher is running around message boards imploring people to bet?

You stick to botched experiments....we'll take care of needful things.

Ya know mort we are underpaid
and such.

Mort coming up in April in my class
before the K. Derby we will have our
derby prep review. We will watch the prep
races of all entrants and then we will draw
the names of all horses entered. The first
second and third place student entries will
receive all the dimes I have been paid for
pencils (purchased by their Physics teacher)
that students did not have on a test day.

Then I will get calls from parents asking
who I like in the Preakness.

So if you are ever down San Antonio way
during the school year... I will PM you the
school I teach at and you too can have
a physics lesson for free and maybe watch
some derby preps. Just let me know.

Or... maybe not. I might be a serial
killer (God knows I love my Rice Crispies).
Your predators run from small
bunny rabbits such as myself.

It does sound like you run a pretty fun classroom.

Its amazing how many kids from prior years
remember the horse they had in the contest,
but forget how to solve problems using the
conservation of energy. Oh well. Small victories.
My contribution to the sport.

What grade do you teach? I'm taking up education right now at Michigan State and thinking I want to teach middle school.

11th and 12th.
Got a bunch of nice kids.
The classes are pretty darn hard.
I teach the Honors Physics and 1 class of Calculus based Physics
for the kids who want to major in Engineering (AP class for college credit)
Smartest little group... God almighty for people
who think education is totally down the crapper
they should visit. I got very lucky to teach such
a good group.

And I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be teaching.
I worked in a research lab for about two years... blech.
Got very lucky to stumble upon teaching.

If you decide to teach middle school God Bless your soul.
Between the hormones and school... poor kids are just
goofed out. Good Middle School teachers are very hard
to find. So good luck if you go that route.

ND man I dont mean to sound like a parent,
but please dont waste too much money on
horses. I saw far too many kids get involved
in college and it was a disaster. It was as bad
as alcohol in many cases.

IrishofNDMan 02-24-2008 10:04 PM

Middle School were my favorite school days, so that is pretty much why I want to go that route.

Weird you say this, I just had a long talk with my dad on this same issue. He knows how much I like to gamble, and doesn't want to see me develop a problem. I'm giving up going to the casino and playing cards for awhile, and if my twinspires account hits 0 it will probably be the end of that till Derby week.

Stay away.

You think you're nuts....have you seen Harvey Keitel the last few years?

IrishofNDMan 02-25-2008 11:31 PM

I see the Spurs beat the mighty Hawks tonight. Impressive 5 point first quarter for the Spurs as well!

Thats what makes it impressive.
How many teams win a game with a 5 point quarter?

Parker is back and in two weeks I say full strength.

We have much better players than last year overall.
Much deeper. Lets see if they can come together as
a team... I think they can. And if LA falters and we
meet them early, Kobe might be able to go diddle some
teenager early summer again.

whodey17 02-26-2008 07:21 AM

Don't get all excited about what the Lakers are doing lately. Here is a list of teams the Lakers have beaten

Toronto - 31-24
Washington - 27-29
New Jersey - 25-31
Atlanta - 22-32
Orlando - 36-22
Miami - 9-44
Charlotte - 19-37
Minnesota - 11-43
Atlanta - 22-32
Phoenix - 38-18
Clippers - 19-35
Seattle - 15-40

Combined record - 274 - 387.

Not holding anything against them and they SHOULD be winning these games. All I am saying is that they haven't had any sort of competition to measure just how good they are. On the surface they look good. But lets wait and see how they do against the Pistons, Celts, Dallas, New Orleans Cleveland and San Antonio.
