I get that Terry has been terrible and Evans does nothing but Marcus Thornton has been a bad, far below average player this year. The only reason that the Nets are getting a pass for taking on a guy like this is that they are the only team that contracts just dont matter and he can be dumped next season's trade dealine as an expiring contract.

If Marcus Thornton represents even a sliver of hope for Nets fans they are even further beaten down than Knicks fans.

It's established he's had a bad season, but back form counts for something and he averaged nearly 19 PPG less than 2 years ago. He's also 26 and they gave up a 33 and 36-year-old. Everyone likes to bash the Nets for being old, then they get younger and people still criticize. And all they did was add roughly the same amount in tax that they shed in the Teague deal.

Pretty busy on the trade front so far today but no real big names or blockbusters...both Detroit and Portland need to do something before 3:00 for different reasons. Nice to see the Sixers have every pick in the 2nd round for this year's draft.

It isnt necessarily a bad deal as much as it is a no impact deal.

Thornton is a bad player plain and simple. Streaky shooters that do absolutely nothing else are rarely cogs on good teams. I mean the guy got 6 rebounds and 4 assists in his last 187 minutes. You could do that by accident.

Put it this way, if your team's options are so bad that you are playing Thornton rotation minutes you are probably doomed anyway. While there remains a flicker of hope than Thornton can produce something a team just traded for two corpses in order to get rid of him.

Truth is that all the trades made so far and most of the ones discussed are just good teams planning for cap space and bad teams shuffling the **** player deck.

Plus any deal that takes minutes or shots away from Teletubby is one I cant like

About the only interesting thing will be figuring out how many 2nd rounders the 76'ers really have.

Nine and counting. Looks like Monroe is stuck in Detroit and Asik stays with the Rockets...disappointing.

Houston not wanting to deal Pasons for Rondo is insane, and I love Parsons.
Pasons is my leading scorer on my 2k14 fantasy drafted all white team!!!!!

There was no real chance that Detroit was trading Monroe after they fired Cheeks. He is the fall guy. I'd make them 3/5 to match whoever signs him to an offer sheet. Not sure how they will make it work but they never seem to have a real plan anyway

Granger to Sixers for Turner and LaVoy Allen. Wonder if the Sixers will buy him out?

I wonder how Stephenson is going to like Turner taking some of his minutes.

MVP race is officially a two horse race after tonight.

RockHardTen1985 02-20-2014 09:56 PM

Golden St will end Houston's win streak tonight. I do think one of these teams will win the West.

It has been a two horse race since 2012

Yeah, but the 35 horse has a nice lead. They are 1-1 on the season, and Durant has just had a better year. It could change of course, but I doubt it.

As for the game tonight, I'm not sweating that one. The Westbrook return was always going to be a problem for a few games. The rest of the team played like junk.

Gotta take Denver plus 8 tonight. I dont think Chicago should be an 8 point favorite over anyone in this league right now. Medium sized wager.
Cavs looking OK early, making the playoff push.

It is not inconceivable that they get the 4 seed and homecourt in the 1st playoff series. Hornacek should be coach of the decade.

Plus they are only on the hook for 36 million next year minus draft picks which will be relatively small since they wont be lottery picks. Right now they will drafting 17, 23 and 30 since they have Indiana and Washingtons picks along with their own. They also have Minnesota's but it is top 13 protected and MN is currently number 12 and it doesnt appear likely that they can win enough to lose the pick.

You'd have to think they will come away with at least one viable player from those picks and maybe 2.
