You're underestimating Yzerman. He not going to pay Callahan anywhere near $6 million. He'll just take his two first round picks and let Callahan walk, if that is truly the price tag.

Won't be easy winning 3 straight in Montreal, but Henry is unreal.

not sure when or why they started calling him the king, but the moniker fits. i've thought for some time now that he is the best active goalie in the league, and i hate when the caps face him. he's so damn tough to get past.

Danzig 05-26-2014 02:12 PM

I guess therrien better start worrying less about who attends morning skates, and more about coaching his team.
One for eight on the power play last night. Inexcusable. Price being out is not a valid excuse for the habs, but i do think they decided they were done when he got hurt.
And subban, quit with the embellishing. Christ.

I still think the best team in the NHL, St Louis, was tossed early and the West's class will beat whatever the East sends out.

Chicago over Montreal in 6

Nice job GBRHT

I see what you are trying to do here... Reverse MUSH your Original MUSH!;) Nice touch throwing in the "secret 3 letter code".

I would say it's not going to work, but that would just add to the POWER of the attempted reverse mush, so I'm not going to do that.:)

the double secret end around reverse of the reverse mush? :p

i didn't see this happening....the kings are really looking good right now. chi has been in this predicament before, but this will be tough for them to come back.
but who knows? it's hockey!

i don't think the pay is the question, but the length. callahan wants a long term deal.

Apparently he wanted a no trade clause and that was the sticking point for the Blueshirts. Truthfully while I liked the guy very much, I though 6 million per year was excessive for a player of his caliber.

Danzig 05-27-2014 11:23 AM

welcome, barry trotz.

we were in nashville for a game back in april. i told the fans around us barry would be free after this season, but they didn't believe me.

i bet now they're doubly mad, because i was right, and because my team got him!

Danzig 05-28-2014 03:42 PM

if i could ask the king one question...it would be, what font did you use to print this out before hanging it on your locker?

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...than-tokarski/

and then i'd go ask the other habs players if they told bourque to please shut up.

Danzig 05-29-2014 08:32 PM

How..how did he make that stop???

Danzig 05-29-2014 09:42 PM

What a great game that was.
Props to the rangers, and to the gm who sent torts outta town, and got vigneault.

Also, honorable mention to a young habs goalie. He did really well.

Agree on all points. The Rangers played like a team possessed, never let up like a swarm. :D

That stop will go down in Ranger lore. Just a brilliant save. What a great, great performance by the Rangers. Alain Vigneault has done a masterful job with this team in his first season. Has had four lines rolling since day one and the Rangers' 4th line has been as big as anyone's in this playoffs. No matter what happens in the Stanley Cup Finals, AV is the right man for the job going forward.

That will be included on future top ten saves in post season reels. Just an awesome play in a really well played game for the rangers.
Vancouvers loss was definitely nys gain.
How many first year coaches have gone to the final? I'm not sure.

I get the Alan love in NY, but he really under achieved in Vancouver and there is a reason he was available. I hopefor the Ranger's sake it works out for the long haul.

i think a lot of that had to do with the gm, who didn't seem to do well in the drafts, and remains unemployed. then there's the owner, who made him hire torts last year.

Danzig 05-30-2014 11:02 PM

Hot dog. Just what LA didn't want...game seven in chitown.

hoovesupsideyourhead 05-31-2014 08:39 AM

huge game by the hawks ..almost at will they rise and make the kings look average.i see a big effort to hack sticks and put bodys in front of quick..something they have been lacking.its sacrifice the body time or go golfing..game 7 should be great.. a chi town -ny cup would be huge..

I'm not sure I've seen two better hockey games than the last 2....Easier to say because of the outcome, but really one of those series where neither team deserves to lose. Crawford and Quick head butt was classic.

Obviously I have a biased opinion but LA looked like they had lost the series when leaving the ice Friday night. For them to travel to Chicago after loosing 2 straight chances to go to the Cup at home, and then beat the hawks in the United Center will be quite the feat.

Meanwhile the hawks return home, winning the last two on the road, with their backs against the wall, now sleeping in their own beds, home ice with one game to go and defend the Cup against the rangers....?

What can I say but GO HAWKS!

I think that was the proper decision by Bettman. No one, including Carcillo, excuses what he did, but there were mitigating circumstances that created that situation. That said, he probably won't play, unless there is an injury or another suspension. But with JT Miller still nursing an injured shoulder, it will be good to have him available later in the series.

How Lundquist became a Ranger

Great article from the NY Post on how Henrick Lundquist became a Ranger:

i think so too. i thought ten was too many, that he only wanted loose from the official.

Weird rooting for an LA team, but West should win..

Danzig 06-07-2014 11:16 PM

I expect NY to win the next two...so, we will see. Im not sure if I should take away that LA is vulnerable since they've had a hard time winning at home.

Two brutal beats for the Rangers.

Game 1 wasn't that bad of a loss. Truthfully it should've never gotten to OT the way LA dominated the 3rd. Last night though, was a huge kick in the nuts. They outplayed the Kings and had chance after chance to put the game away but couldn't do it. Kreider's lousy breakaway attempt was the coup de grace.

On the plus side, the Rangers have shown the last two games that this series is way closer than most thought going in. Have to win both at home, but the series is far from over. MSG will be rocking, unlike that building filled with bored Laker fans.

Danzig 06-11-2014 09:13 AM

i'm stunned about game three, and really hope the rangers can get themselves together and make a series of it.

Make history or be history!

Truthfully I've never seen a series in which one team got every single lucky bounce and the other got none. How many clean goals do the Kings have vs. goals deflected off Rangers? It's been unfathomable to me. Really hope that puck luck turns tonight, because a sweep would be a complete disservice to how close this series has really been.

i know it, it's crazy. sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
