Not staying up for more beatings. The rail on the turn is a mud pit.

_ed_ 10-15-2010 11:28 PM

Haha, Ginga! What an effort. I didn't think he'd handle the ground at all. Tough little bugger.

I did everything wrong all day... just missed a huge price horse at keeneland, screwed up left and right so gave up but remembered the other two races and checked results and if anyone doesn't believe me that's cool but i added in the Craig Williams horseunderneath Culminate.

$1 exacta paid 148.00 :)

Again if anyone thinks i'm full of **** that's fine. I'm just happy and need to tell someone or I'll explode. :D

Great to see Culminate back at her best. Love her.

I just made it back to this thead, esp after I fell asleep right after the race ended in the Caulfield Cup. Hard to fathom Descarado winning but full credit to Gai and CMunce. I thought Ginga Dude ran a blinder in the Davy Jones, much to my chagrin...didn't bet him, was fooled by the 1-7 record at the distance, should have known better, better be careful of the kiwis. Congrats SC on the Culminate hit.

NoChanceToDance 10-16-2010 09:24 PM

Caulfield Cup was a very very open event this year, and with it raining for almost 24hrs prior to the race it was always going to make life tricky. There were many proven front runners - and on a normal (dry) track, this would have been won by a closer (most likely Alcopop or Shocking) but with the track as wet as it was, it was hard to make ground throughout the whole day.

Have form on a wet track was a must - and a low weight probably helped, too.

Looking at Descarado - he's often a front runner, who stays very well. Last time he raced over 2400m he finished a gallant second. He'd also had four runs on tracks officially rated either or slow and heavy, and guess what..... for those four runs he had two wins and two seconds.

It wasn't a shock for me, and yes, I did bet him - but only to place, and I came out of the race a couple of dollars up :(

While it is enjoyable to read this colorful language I do not understand much of it. I actually understand Snide better.

HUH? I had a cat named Ginger.

When is Hug a Ginga Day, and what does one do?

I think the date changes every year. People are encouraged to randomly hug redheads. An act of kindness to brighten the lives of people who are so often ridiculed.

_ed_ 10-21-2010 08:40 PM

NZ's bringing out the big guns on Cox Plate day!

I'd love to see Wall Street win the big one, but I just don't think he can beat SYT at that distance. I believe he could beat him at a mile, but I think the last 440m will take its toll and take the venom out of his amazing finishing kick.

If the track's a dead 4 or better, Katie should win the Tesio. She has a big weight to carry for a tiny little horse, but I don't think the others are really in her class. Look out. :)

Sorry been very busy this week with my Youngster Magic Gonski,
he's out spelling now so outher than gardening i can get into the serious buisness of picking winners:D:$:.
Not much Value today so i will be Boxing a Tri.
SO YOU THINK
MORE JOYOUS
ZIPPING
I was gonna have a tipple on Poor Judge if the track was heavy but it's rated at Dead 4 so not gonna touch it
But might have a punt on Hot Danish on the nose @ $3.60 is worth a look.
Great Punting all :tro:.
& i'll get back to my friggin gardening:(

my miss storm cat 10-22-2010 08:20 PM

Man every time I think I have my plays straight I change my mind.

Trying hard to put sentiment aside here.

I think the pressure will be on More Joyous...

Will probably just play a few tris using Whobegotyou and Wall Street on top of Trusting, Zipping, Leun Yat Forever and hope for a price somehow (and yes I know this is probable suicide).

Not spending a lot here... a joy to watch this one so it's all good tonight.

Oh and good luck to my Mental boy at Rosehill. Rothesay (sp) is at 6/4? C'mon let's not get carried away here.

You go, Mentality.

Paid $68.50 for a dollar. :)

That's my good boy, Lion Tamer. I knew you could hang on for me. (Nice move by Kudakulari although don't know where that one finished).

my miss storm cat 10-23-2010 01:07 AM

I had a win bet on Capecover in that last one.

Good luck to all of you if you're playing. I'm trying to decide if I should complicate things or just leave my plays as they are.

This is a spectacular field. I don't know why I keep wanting to leave out So You Think.

magic_idol 10-23-2010 01:35 AM

Wow Black Caviar

Cleaned them up lol:eek:

my miss storm cat 10-23-2010 01:41 AM

Very wrong about So You Think but wow what a beautiful run.

Cheers to the old man Zipping who was 2nd. Very happy about that.

_ed_ 10-23-2010 02:11 AM

So You Think is a great, great horse.

So nervous. Come on, Katie. Show Australia what you're made of.

_ed_ 10-23-2010 02:24 AM

:(
Worst race of her life.

Arletta 10-23-2010 08:21 AM

More Joyous ran up the track?

my miss storm cat 10-23-2010 12:22 PM

I'm not sure if you mean cause of what ed said (I don't want to assume you don't know he's talking about Katie Lee who was 9th. It's me... long morning, splitting headache, not sure who anyone is talking about now :D).

Anyway here... I always find these interesting. More Joyous was 5th.

Cox Plate: Jockeys' Comments

The nine riders who trailed behind Steven Arnold on So You Think in the 2010 Tatts Cox Plate described being left in the wake of a superstar in the $3m Group one event.

Second - Nick Hall (Zipping): "He (Zipping) is a legend in his own right. So You Think is just too good. We ran into the next Phar Lap."

Third - Michael Rodd (Whobetyou): "Outstanding run. He ran right up to his best, but he ran into a freak."

Fourth - Corey Brown (Shoot Out): "He ran really good. the tempo was as quick as I thought it would be. He ran more like a Cups horse than a Cox Plate horse. He just kept coming today."

Fifth - Nash Rawiller (More Joyous): "She travelled beautifully. I felt she was in her comfort zone at the 1000 metres, but when the pace picked up it was So You Think who started to put the pressure on rather than her, and I thought: ‘We're in trouble here'. He just sucked everything out of me from the half mile to the 400 (metre mark). Maybe it would have been better if I'd been on his back rather than the otrher way around."

Sixth - Craig Williams (Avienus): "She ran a great race. She really did acquit herself well in that company."

Seventh - Michael Coleman (Wall Street): "He just bombed the start a bit. He got back in an awkward spot and just kept grinding."

Eighth - Glen Boss (Captain Sonador): "Never really travelled. From the 1000 metres he was on the wrong leg. He'll go to the Emirates Stakes now and be hard to beat."

Ninth - Jim Cassidy (Trusting): "It was all over at the start when he didn't jump cleanly."

Tenth - Dwayne Dunn (Luen Yat Forever): "It was a tough race. I was unable to make the speed any different, but you can't be too disappointed going against the best."
