I'd be ALL over Nova tonight if I still wagered.

Penetrate and dish.

Coach Pants 03-26-2009 08:59 PM

Duke -2
330/300

Scav 03-26-2009 10:12 PM

Looks like Calapari still hasn't learned how to call a timeout before it is too late.

Coach Pants 03-26-2009 10:24 PM

What good are a bunch of white boys if they can't hit open 3's? Oh well.

Coach K better thank his lucky stars he isn't UK's coach. They'd fire his ass.

Speaking of UK and firing...

I hope this doesn't come off as racist although I'm sure that to some it will and for that, I apologize. But yeah, you can't have that many white guys on the court at one time and none of them be named Bird, McHale, Stockton, or Nash. Not at this level of the game.

At the college level they don't even need to be named any of those. Duke is structured more like a midmajor now than anything and a midmajor can't win without a Bryce Drew or Valdez-Mendez and other shooters that can hit in the clutch. Right now they look like a bad three point shooting team which is pretty embarrassing since any of their recruits would be a prize recruit at any midmajor.

Its too bad West Virginia and Marquette sh!t the bed in the tourney. Marquette had an excuse with the injury but without it and West Virginia taking a dump on the court against Dayton there would be a realistic shot of an Elite 8 of the Big East and North Carolina.

At some point Coach K decided not to recruit the one and done guys and they have suffered because of it. They have good players but no elite talents.

declansharbor 03-26-2009 11:25 PM

Was Pitt laying 4 and a hook tonight?

Those backdoor covers drive bettors on the losing end, up a wall. A less harsher version of Sniper's ND St. travesty.

As for the Duke/Nova game. I don't think I can recall such a poor effort offensively for Duke. That was a joke. Another joke was Scottie Reynolds and his clock management towards the end. If I was Wright and that game was a tad closer, I'd have yanked him and have him $hitting my shoelaces tomorrow.

Like Elton Brand didn't help them at all.

I seem to remember that Coach K told him he should go because he was going really high and couldnt risk it. Corey Maggette and some other guy that washed out were the ones I think pissed him off.

Cannon Shell 03-26-2009 11:51 PM

But they need a talent infusion. I know it is a stereotype but they really lack speed. One really good player could make them a final 4 team.

Coach Pants 03-26-2009 11:59 PM

They need white guys that can hit threes.

I got Xavier +6 1/2. With all the FT's in the final minute, I thought Pitt might get the cheap cover. Not complaining, I talked myself out of playing the money line. Damn, Xavier only manages 18 points in the second half.

I'm all over Gonzaga tomorrow. I know they've disappointed thus far, but 8 1/2 is lunacy IMO..

King Glorious 03-27-2009 01:28 AM

He will recruit one and done guys but prefers not too. If a guy shows in one season that he's ready to go, he'll counsel them to go.

Has any player's stock fallen more from the time they enrolled to the time they finished than Greg Paulus?

They need two things. They need a post presence. Doesn't have to be a great player but someone that can at least make the defense pretend to respect their inside game. Several times tonight, I saw them have all five guys at least 15 feet from the basket and four of them outside the three-point line. They also need a point guard that can take his man off the dribble and create. At this level, they have to work entirely too hard to get shots because all of the defenders are out there staying home on their men because they have nobody that commands even the occassional double team down low and nobody that can beat his man and make the defense scramble and get out of position.

I'm extremely disappointed because as much as I love Duke, even when they rose to #1, I knew this team was overrated and would have a hard time making it past the Sweet 16.

He should have played football. He was the NATIONAL Player of the Year...

If Mizzou can make a couple upsets happen and win their next two games... and if cuse takes care of business tonight... I could be real close on the ESPN bracket... ranked 99.02%.

knock on wood.

Sounds like WHAS jumped the gun a bit... at least by 12 hours or so. The institution had originally stated they were making a decision on Friday anyways.

I believe the decision was made a long time ago. They are just trying not to look so brutal and saving a little face.

I think Syracuse is a terrible matchup for them. They can even throw Joseph in there if they need to for some cheap fouls on Griffin. I have a feeling he's going to be mighty sore tomorrow.

Antitrust32 03-27-2009 09:58 AM

I am rooting for Arizona to completely bust up my bracket of course!

Go Cats!

Considering I have West Virginia in the Final Four in that region I will definitely be rooting for Arizona all the way to the Final Four.

Their top three men are as good as any in the country. It should be interesting at the very least.

They really are. I wish they had just a little more depth though because Louisville comes at you all night. I expect Louisville to win it but wouldn't at all be surprised if Arizona takes it. Arizona has always had the look of a team for the tournament more than for the regular season. Imagine if Jennings was there too. Some people said that Lute had lost it but add Jennings to this team and it was easily a Final Four caliber team. Still might be.

Cannon Shell 03-27-2009 06:13 PM

Chase Budinger looks like a 6'8" Sniper

Cannon Shell 03-27-2009 06:58 PM

Too bad my team still sucks.

Griffin is a monster. I read some numbers on him (strength, standing vertical).
He may enter the NBA as the strongest player.
Carlos Boozer amped up and on roids.
If he can capture Boozer's range.... holy schnikes.
He does have a knee injury but it appears to be OK.
Cannon is right on him. Clear #1 and a franchise type
guy to boot. No matter what happens today.

It will be very interesting to see where Thabeet goes,
and Rubio from Spain.
