Smokey Stover: "Yes, I bet a 'ton' at 8-1"
Super Frolic: "That Exacta put hundred dollar bills in my pocket."

Somehow, some way, for God only knows what reason, these great pearls of wisdom were delayed in their transmission until days, weeks or months after the actual races took place.

I hate when that happens.

What the hell were you drinikng . Acid laced beer?

The Sumwon thing was a joke. Sorry you could understand that.

Smokey Stover....probably another joke directed at DrugS.

Super Frolic ? Since you wasted time looking my posts up, show me that one. Curious to what the hell I bet.

I guess if I dont post any bets I have made over the last 20 years before the race that means they didnt happen. I plan on buying a laptop for the purpose of taking it to GP with me so I can post every bet on the net to validate them.

You are being ridiculous.

Congrats then to him.

Funny how he liked the 5 and the 1 yesterday. Or was it a 5-1 shot. Couldnt tell from the idiots post. Either way it wasnt Spring at last. I guess he was posting different horses in different places.

Danzig 02-02-2008 07:40 PM

Never heard of that one. But if he did really bet it then congrats. 12k is a score. Great job in all seriousness.

That being said I still think his reasoning he gave me yesterday was moronic. Just my opinion. He was wrong as BH ran better than whatever the hell he was trying to say.

It would probably help if someone translated what the hell he says on here at times.

Drinking Walker Black on rocks. Being careful not to chip the ice.

I'll grant the Sumwonluvsyou post was in jest.

No way the Smokey Stover comment was in jest.

Well, here's the Super Frolic thread:

http://www.derbytrail.com/forums/sho...688#post259688

I think you're post #16.

Look, it's no big deal. You've offered up one horse pre-race on this board and that was today. So, you're 0 for 1. Unless, of course, you were just "joking" about Brass Hat today as well in which case that makes you 0 for 0.

Either way, that's a record I would take in many years.

It was enjoyable reading your posts, not at all a waste. I'm a big believer in continuing education.

The laptop at Gulfstream is a great idea. I was there today as well, hanging out at Frank's Energy Beach. But I f****d that up. I thought it was clothing optional.

hoovesupsideyourhead 02-02-2008 08:15 PM

if you look on the santa anita thread..i gave out the super high 5 on it..the bet is to pick the top 5 positions at the end of the race..

my ticket payed 12k and yes i did play it.......im no better than anyone here..and dont like squabbling about races ..my opinion was that the 8 brass hat was not a very good play..i tried to explain why..my reasoning didnt seem correct for you..i took down the ball busting stuff because i know it was no big deal in a race like that...i want all dters to do well........anyway good luck stone.........

I see a post race edit stamped on your Super High 5 winner post....

Congrats to all who had Spring At Last definitely he was the correct trip horse today. Obviously Daheer is not as bad to be beaten by a pole at the finish. I think it's best to put a line through this performance.

I think it's a mistake to discount his performance today. We don't know how good Daaher is in two-turn races when he's facing some pace pressure. Perhaps today's race is indicative of how he'd run everytime he is faced with a scenario like today. When you say he's obviously better than we saw today, you are basing that assumption on having seen him run under totally different conditions today. Before automatically assuming it was just an off day, consider that it might not have been.

I'll second that. I singled him on my Pick 4 ticket not concerned about the distance vs that field. After today I am thinking he's a one turn miler.

That's a fair point Before automatically assuming it was just an off day, consider that it might not have been

However, since this horse has been fitted with blinkers he has shown a high cruising speed with an ability to finish off races. If those previous 3 races were true including the 2 turn effort at the Spa, it would be reasonable to suggest he shouldn't have faded like a cheap pair of jeans like he did today. It doesn't make sense. The fractions were honest but not suicidal as evidenced by Kiss The Kid hanging on for a piece. I think something wasn't right with him today, it's a gut call horseplayers have to make at times. Drawing a line through a performance.

This really takes the cake. I'm not saying he's a true 1 1/8th horse but if you think today's performance is a fair indication of Daaher's ability you are flat out wrong. Horses that have run as well as he has in the past don't pack it in the way he did unless there was a problem.

Wow, you calling me wrong. I didn't expect that at all. We'll see.

For the record, I DO think there was a problem. I think there were two of them actually.

PACE and ANOTHER TURN.

Just add this to the list.

Luckily for you, I know you just post the opposite of what you know to be true just to initiate conversation.

Why are you ignoring his last 3 races, if you saw them no one can say the pace would have affected him to the point of being beaten 20 lengths or so by Spring At Last and more so being outpaced or outstayed by Kiss The kid. Anyway I hope there are many that share this opinion, the better the odds on Daaher the next time he races.

blackthroatedwind 02-02-2008 10:28 PM

I wouldn't be overly optimistic about him racing any time soon.

Bobby Fischer 02-02-2008 10:29 PM

Will be interesting to see how some of these horses are placed in the future. I would like to see Daaher go and take the Mile over in Dubai. I think he has the style for it. Spring at Last doesn't belong in the DWC... maybe we will get a rematch at a mile ?

To be honest I cant remember if I have ever hit Super Frolic in a race. I think I was cracking a joke in that post about angels and all that stuff. I am pretty sure that any Smokey Stover comments WERE just busting DrugS balls because he was on that horse before anyone else, and before SS showed how good he was.....DrugS also passed on betting him at like 8-1 last year on Sunshine Millions day. Thats what I was probably getting at.

I did bet BH today. Luckily I was alive in the late pick 4 and if he had won, was "all" into the last. THe horses in the 1st 2 legs were pretty legit. So I didnt need to bet much at all (made a few ex and tri bets). Considering BH was gonna be my big bet for the day, I was happy I came out profitable today. The last 2 at AQU saved my day.

Walked by Frank's Energy Beach a few times.....gotta say one thing about the new GP....if you like to drink it's a great place...you can't walk 20 feet without some sort of bar popping up.

That's a very convenient response but frankly flat out unfair and an odd cheap shot from you. While obviously I am wrong a fair share of the time, overall the advice I give here is pretty strong, and over time my opinions have proven pretty strong. I take the opposite view of people because I believe they are wrong....and they usually are when I challenge them.

As regards today's races I told people that Fairbanks and Einstein had no chance and I literally begged a poster not to bet heavily favored Wincat in the Swale. I also endorsed the winner of the Whirlaway. Please, regale us with your plethora of pre-race opinions that have come to fruition recently.

I take a stand. And I'll take my chances with my overall record. In fact, I do in a pretty big way on a daily basis.

opinions that come with these posts. But now we
enter the realm of handicapping the handicappers intentions...

I don't think you see Luzzi on this horse again. Obviously the horse didn't run its best effort but Luzzi doing Elliot just doesn't get it done in 'big' races.
