They're fat,too.

3.Arizona State--til they lose to USC they stay here May lose this week

May flowers are brought to you by April showers....never forget that.

4.Oregon--til they lose to USC they merit being here May lose this week

You forgot already!

5.USC--rolling over ND was a positive sign, hoping they roll over the pac-10 and move on to the BCS title game only div 1 games count so ND win meaningless)

Oh...that was a good one.

6.Oklahoma---surprising team so far, just wondering how much longer it will last Surprising? they have been in top 10 since July)

Iowa State!!!??

They should be banned forever from the top ten.

7.Kentucky---if it were not for their loss, id have them as the #1 team in the nation.(Which loss doesn't count? S. Carolina or Fla?)

You may only pick one. That's what the man said.

8.Florida--playing very well considering the tough teams they face, can beat any team in nation, but it seems like they can also be beat just as easily by any other ranked teamMaybe the only thing you said that makes sense)

Rankings shmankings.

9.VA Tech---just had to fill this spot

NO commenty!!!?

10.Auburn--2 losses I know but they could of beat LSU, and they are a very capable team, only tough team they might have left will be Georgia(Which of their losses doesn't count? they have 3.

I thinK he just had to fill the spot.

lsu's home games were away last year (obviously)--no doubt everyone who is pointing out how easy they have it this year gave them credit for having all those on the road last year.

Unranked and 3 loss Auburn.

Now if you're going to tell me how highly ranked the rest were then I'm going to tell you those rankings were fraudulent.

Tan-ah-see being the biggest fraud ever hatched.

probably the same place osu got youngstown st and akron. what a team, beating one ranked team thus far, the legendary powerhouse known as purdue.

just think how little we'd all have to discuss if the ncaa did what everyone wants, and went to a playoff/college super bowl system!

maybe someday....

as for the rankings right now, osu gets a lot of votes because they're osu. just like usc started out no 1 because they're usc, and just like notre dame gets a bowl game if they even have a hint of win about them. they're traditional schools, and that means something to many voters. it's also why 'purists' were unhappy with the upstart south florida team daring to crack the top five.
it's all bs. play the top teams against each other, to hell with the striving for a perfect season, have the wins MEAN something! do what every other sport does, play it off. may the best win.

well, there's 90 seconds of my life wasted, never to be seen again.

i'm amazed that you're amazed.

but none of it should come down to opinion, it should be played out on the field. then it doesnt' matter who votes for whom, the winner wins, and is no 1. it's not as tho the colts had to share their superbowl trophy with the chargers this past january....

It's been like this forever!!!

They've been voting on the NC's forever!!

It won't change unless they can suck more money out of the system.

And ,frankly, I DON'T CARE!!

It's only usefullness to me is as a tool of frustration to Johnny Rebs!

no, i don't think i'm well known for bratty commentary. but then, i guess it depends on who you ask.
as for the NC, just because it's been that way doesn't mean it needs to continue. but yeah, it all comes down to money. then again, doesn't everything? at least it seems that way.

A lot of what you say here is true. Some teams do get votes just because of the name. It's not really that fair. What's also not really fair is the preseason rankings. Some really good teams over the past few years have had to be left out of good bowl games and even out of the national title game because their ranking didn't get high enough because they started so low. I believe it was Auburn or LSU a few years ago that started very far down and ended up the season #3 but if they had started the season #1 or #2, they would have been in the title game. It was all about where they started.

Personally, I have no problem with the upstart teams like South Florida being well received. I like to see new teams get a shot at breaking in.

Way to go South Florida. And Florida. Florida is showing that their loss to Auburn wasn't a fluke. With each loss, it takes some of the luster off of Auburn's win over them......which in turn takes some of the luster off of South Florida beating Auburn. As if SF didn't do enough of that themselves over these past two weekends.

My Teams left with a BCS title shot:

Ohio State
LSU
Boston College
Arizona State
Oregon
Kansas
Oklahoma
West Virginia
Hawaii
Missouri (outside)

If you got any others throw them in.
Unless some strange things happen, this is it.

I think its Ohio State against Oklahoma.

Oregon beats Arizona St. and Oklahoma gets in over Oregon after beating undefeated Kansas in the Big 12 title game. I think Oregon is better than Oklahoma.

BC goes down to a Florida School.

Dont think Hawaii has a shot even if they win out unless many one loss teams turn to two loss teams.

Hawaii has to beat Boise and Washington by 100 to make the top 10 let alone the BCS. I love the Hawaiians but they really play a weak schedule...

hawaii struggled mightily to squeak by la tech in ot. it was painful to watch. lucky me, i was there in person. thank goodness for the hooters up the road, we stopped off after ditching the in laws after the half time 'show' and watched the first half of lsu.
had la techs coach not opted to go for 2 immediately who knows how long that would have lasted...

That is a tough road trip to play in bad weather plus Brennan was hurt. They did not play well but are a much better team than they showed. The run and Gun is fun to watch on a dry field. There was no better bowl result than them beating the hated Az State Scum Devils and then running it up a little late...

I would personally want to see an undefeated Ohio State play a 1 loss LSU team. That would be great fun. At this point these two teams look like the best. LSU the most talented, and Ohio State the most efficient.

I dont think the Michigan defense is capable of stopping Ohio State.
However, if Michigan grinds it out and keeps the ball away from Ohio State, we could have a game. I dont think Michigan is capable of this either.

But I understand your concern as the Vulvarenes have disappointed the tree seeds so many times before.

Mortimer 10-28-2007 10:23 PM

Oh it's a game that doesn't make much sense all right. It really doesn't matter how they stack up year to year.

We do have the AvoidLloyd factor going for us,though.

Who voted for Boston College?

Again I must rain on my alma matre's parade. Texas has beaten:

Central Florida (5-3)
Ark ST. (3-5)
Rice (1-7)
TCU (1-4 in the tough mountain west)
Iowa St. (1-8)
Baylor (0-5 in the Big 12)
Nebraska (1-4 in the Big 12 4-5 overall)

We have not beaten ONE decent team, not one. If Texas gets into a bowl game of any significance it will be awful mess unless vast improvement takes place.
Texas had Jamaal Charles had to gain over 200 yards and score 3 touchdowns, IN THE LAST QUARTER, to pull out a win in Austin over Nebraska. Help me please.

ddthetide 10-29-2007 08:36 PM

ut and uga are back atop of the sec east, ut in first with the tie break over uga. ut still has to play arky, vandy, ky. uga gets the barners and ky at home. the problem with these two, WHO KNOWS which team will show up. ut is probably the worst of the two, they get behind and quit.

in the west lsu should beat Bama this week and lock it up. IF Bama would win they still have to face msu and the barners. the barners have 2 losses and pretty much out at this point.

Colorado has improved a great deal.
They would thump Texas right now.

Oklahoma beat Miami 56-10 or some such massacre.
Texas wins are just awful.

And Colt McCoy got beat up again.
Honestly if I was his dad he would
be taken to a doctor and found to
have a concussion. Out for the season.

The kid is getting killed every game.
Running for his life every other pass play.

Almost any team in the SEC would kill Texas right now.

Well you have to give them credit...they had quite a run there.

I remain flabbergasted how anyone ranks Oklahoma ahead of Kansas. Kansas has zero losses. Kansas beat Colorado on the road. Oklahoma couldn't beat Colorado on the road. They had the same test Oklahoma had...they passed, Oklahoma failed...until Kansas loses there is not one sane person who can rank Oklahoma ahead of them.

I understand that. It's still wrong. IT should be only about this season...the whole season. You have to toss in the Oklahoma team that played Colorado and Iowa State with the Oklahoma team that played Missouri in the rankings. I don't agree with Cannon Shell, that it is highly unlikely Kansas goes undefeated...all they have left are Missouri (at home) and Ok State on the road. Two winnable games in my opinion. I think it's at least a 50-50 shot they go undefated in the regular season. OF course the Big 12 championship game against most likely Oklahoma would be where it could all come crashing down (and prove how smart those pollsters really are!!). But to me at this point they are clearly number 1 in the Big 12 and should be the highest ranked Big 12 team in the polls...they beat K State and Colorado on the road and Texas A & M on the road...granted those aren't powerhouses...but still very good road wins. Texas couldn't beat K-State at home and Oklahoma couldn't beat Colorado. There is zero excuse for them not to be the highest ranked Big 12 team in the polls at this juncture.

To me it's like if LSU were 8-0 and beat Georgia on the road and Florida was 7-1 and lost to Georgia and the pollsters had Florida 4 spots higher in the polls. Would there be no discussion or outrage at that in Louisiana?? Or Oregon is 8-0 and beats Cal on the road and USC is 7-1 and loses to Cal and USC is ranked 4 spots higher in the polls. Would any of those scenarios ever happen?? I don't think so. The Kansas/Oklahoma rankings are completely obscene.
