I would watch the replays of the Santa Anita Derby and the Kentucky Derby and realize that he ran deceptively decent races in both of those starts.
I would bet him heavily in the race at odds that thrilled me.
I would watch him finish 5th.

exactly. He looked good then when it was time he said , "time for me to quit"

I'm sure Rags will only be a factor until the 1/4 pole

Good Luck to all!

Agreed Hoffy. It doesn't really matter. Like I've been saying all along...The addition of RTR does add intrigue to the race. I'm not ready to hand the race to Curlin just yet, but he sure looks tough to beat. The weather looks like it's going to be nice...unlike some previous years. I'm not sure there will be a Sarava type upset this year. I will still never forget how quiet 105,000
fans got that day. What an adeventure that day was. My first and only Belmont. Boy was that Limo ride home an adventure.

I'll throw in a free Belmont Park blanket for the winner (if they want it.)

Rumor is that will keep you warm on a hot summer's night.

SentToStud 06-05-2007 04:55 PM

If you need a prize, I have a nice "Calder Festival of The Sun" personal cooler that is unused which I am willing to part with. I'll include shipping!

Only if you spin for 14 of them and layer them on.

I've got a $15 gift certificate to Tru-Value Hardware that I just won at a benefit for a guy who lost his leg in a farming accident.

P Dave and Anti T,
Are either of you going to post the card and keep score?
Seems like prizes are being put up.
This could be lots of fun.
I'm in.

It was actually a real good time. A huge turn out. You should of seen the things they were raffling and auctioning. I talked to him and he's in great spirits. He's only like 24-25.

On second thought...maybe I should really handicap the Saturday card, there will be plenty of partying...IF Saturday is a "good" day.

Sure DTS,

I'll put the card up and keep score (at the end of the day - or sunday cause I'll be spending the day at Calder most likely).

$2 Win bet on 1 horse per race. Cant go into the negative, only winnings count no losing.

That's the easiest way.

Not sure what ya mean...best ROI for the day based upon one $2win bet per race...right????

BTW are you in?? with you in the braggin rights are worth more

blackthroatedwind 06-05-2007 05:18 PM

Maybe I should throw in an " official " dunce cap for the last place finisher.

Or I could just enter and inevitably just keep mine.

If I get a chance. I'll try....the problem is I have to go out there reasonably early Saturday. Can I post alternate selections in case of late scratches?

I'll just embarrass myself as usual.

We can count the losing bets if you would like. Its just easier to take into account the winnings only.

ROFLMAO>>>>and pissed my pants!

Payson Dave 06-05-2007 05:22 PM

I guess we could make it that for scratch purposes only everyone gets one alternate selection per race...the alternate becomes your selection in the event that your primary selection scratches

I was considering making them the first " Youbet's Playing to Win " piece of merchandise. God knows every horseplayer needs one. Problem is they are expensive. An ex-girlfriend of mine, who made me a great one a couple summers ago, made me an excellent new one for this week's show. However, we paid her $100. I'm not sure how many people will want them....especially with a mark-up. However, I'm sure we can work something out if anyone's interested.

One easy way to keep score would be to individually sum each entrants winning $2wager payoffs ... the individual with the highest win total is the winner...That is probably what you mean by counting only the winning wagers right???

The Indomitable DrugS 06-05-2007 08:15 PM

JRV's ROI

Since coming back from his fall at Keeneland last spring.

JRV has won at a 20.9% clip, from just over 1,000 total rides. His overall ROI is $1.63 -- which is an 18.5% loss on the betting dollar...slightly more than the win takeout.

He's having uncharacteristical statistical struggles on the dirt. Since the injury, he's 137-for-622 (22% wins) but his ROI is terrible $1.37 ...which is a 31.5% loss on the betting dollar...and more than double the takeout.

He's also struggled in stake races recently--winning just six of them since the end of March...and that includes all varieties of stakes from ones with $35,000 purses right up through Grade 1 races.

He's always been a guy who's ROI stats have always looked far better than his riding appears, especially right before he teamed up with Todd Pletcher--he rides the inside paths about as well as anyone not named Dominguez, Prado, or Borel --- but he tries avoiding the inside even more than usual, and almost never seems content there anymore.

He's always put up remarkably good turf numbers, especially for a guy who isn't fond of saving ground.

I've only been focusing on stake races the fast few months....but he appears to be riding well below his best form from what I've seen in those limited number of races.
