This does not bode well for this man, not at all

I'm glad you brought this into the conversation. I watched both the Shoot Around, which was won by a female, and the women's play off...felt a real sense of satisfaction for my kind. I happen to also listen to Imus in the early mornings....hearing him belittle the accomplishment was yet another one of those "slight humiliations" we females have to hear all the time when we demonstrate a level of competence in "a man's world."

Imus will not get fired.First of all his show is a radio show that MSNBC has decided to simulcast. He's not an employee of MSNBC but of WFAN radio which is owned by CBS.He brings in more revenue in 4 hours a day than the rest of the programming does the rest of the day.If MSNBC decides to stop simulcasting his show he wouldn't care less. This will be old news by the time the derby is run.

This is not going away. The reason why is because there is too much similiar stuff on tape that they can show everybody.People, this is not a one time deal here. The "heavy" (Bernard) has said so much stuff like this, and Don is on tape laughing, and then saying his comment was unfortunate.Well,he knew very well what he was gunna say. These are like guys hitting a tennis ball back and forth. If you think Blacks don't care about it,you are f'n just wrong.Just today a guy is telling me about The Williams Sisters, and how these 2 guys joked about how they had a better chance of being in National Geographic(rather than Playboy.) See,this is not on here. They are gunna have so much fuel.MSNBC will be accused of turning a blind eye.The least that will have to be done is can Bernard. If they are gunna clean the show up then he really would be out of place anyways. My God,some of the stuff he has said while portraying a priest??? Oh man..If they start looking at that, this is gunna get worse n' worse.

If they get rid of Imus then i'm sure XM or Sirius will pick him up. If it were me I would've been negotiating with the sat providers years ago. F*ck the FCC.

I have only seen it on T.V. Have never just listened to it.That is unlike Stern(who was NOT carried live on T.V.) This is not the same. This is a bit older audience, and not as hardcore loyal as the Stern fans.

SCUDSBROTHER 04-09-2007 09:55 PM

The show is o.k..........Not something good enough to pay for(I don't think.)I ain't paying for that detective guy(BO) to take up time on there.I mean making up fake words used to be funny. It is old now.

Yeah but XM and Sirius are notorius for overpaying. He should cash in before he dies.

The guy can hardly catch his breath on there sometimes.Something is wrong with his lungs.Something chronic. If he fights to keep this gig it will be for the people working for him...How much longer was he gunna do this, anyways?

When he was younger he was a chronic drug and alcohol abuser,
I'm not sure if he was a smoker

FYI: Imus is a very sick man and has emphysema.

I agree with Scuds....Bo has to go. He's just not funny. He's actually pathetic.

And in a contrite gesture, Imus should publicly fire Bernard and replace him with an African American.

ArlJim78 04-10-2007 08:53 AM

I find it amusing when they refer to Imus as a "shock jock"

When was the last time he was shocking?

And when's the last time the guy wore a jock strap?

And the last time he did, he probably used a peanut shell and a rubber band.

I mean the guy's guests are people like John McCain, Tim Russert, etc.
I guess if you're inside the beltway this stuff is shocking.

Cajungator26 04-10-2007 09:54 AM

YUCK, Baba...

I WAS hungry.

Add a 10-gallon hat, and who do ya have?!??!

Don't forget the acid-wash denim jacket, with the collar turned up. When did this guy stop buying clothes, 1985?

I have a personal theory that people stop changing their hairstyles at the point in life when they are happiest (which indicates to me that Rod Stewart and Liza Minelli were both happiest around 1973). Imus appears to have gone overboard, with not only his hair but his wardrobe calling back to a kinder, simpler time when he was perhaps, more popular and when his system could actually handle all the illicit substances he put into it.

Though, applying this theory means Tucker Carlson was happiest in 1958, and I'm not sure he was technically alive then.

Those that were fortunate enough to see the class that the women of the Rutgers basketball team demonstrated at their press conference, the dignity and poise they possess, have seen fine young student atheletes that should serve as positive role models for not only black people, but also women of any color. They gained my respect even more for their intelligence than they had previously for their athletic abilities. Their parents should feel pride in their daughters equal to that which their eloquent coach expressed.

Duh...that's precisely why they can't make the cut.

I found it more than ironic that there was no mention of Martha Burk this year.

Thank you for your silence. I didn't know what you were talking about.
Since you were unable to answer, I guess you didn't either.
Interesting me is how some have shown themselves on this thread.
One wants others to have a "thicker skin", but when challenged demonstrates how thin his own is. I call that move a "check-mate".
Then there are the defenders. The bigots also showed up. Pity them also.
Here's an article you might wish to read and comment about.

Oh, right, I expect you to come back and attack me rather than discuss the article I posted. Go ahead...it will be lame, as usual.

On behalf of the bigots, racists, and "thin skinned" people we officially have put this distressing, disturbing, horrific, terrible incident and resulting thread behind us. I'm sure this will be wrong and show us to be shallow or lacking empathy but so be it. I'm sure that you will continue to throw stones down upon us fools from your ivory tower but we just dont have it in us to respond. Forgive our lameness or ability to see your side of an issue.

Downthestretch55 04-10-2007 03:07 PM

Thank you both for your kind thoughts.
I asked for discussion on the article I posted, and yet again....pathetic attacks.
And thank you both for clearly proving my point, yet again.

Coach Pants 04-10-2007 03:09 PM

That article is for nappyheaded hos and I want no part of it.

GenuineRisk 04-10-2007 03:12 PM

I think it's a good editorial, though I wish she would have told Imus to throw out his acid-wash jacket and to put his collars down.

somerfrost 04-10-2007 03:44 PM

Wow...I haven't posted to this thread and have only read the last page of comments...my opinion, since it appears everybody else has weighed in...Imus always seemed like a decent sort, does a lot for charity...his remarks were totally out of line and he will suffer the consequences, as he should. PC is one thing, making those kind of remarks toward young women is another...it amazes me how stupid public figures can be at times, but racism and sexism run deep in this culture and the fact that this thread is this long speaks volumes.

Thank you for bringing up that point. If it was a conservative, that
person would be crucified to no end. When Imus first started out on
radio I think he was conservative and just recently in the past
couple of years became more liberal each year.
