Fractions today for Corinthian were pretty remarkable in their consistency:
24.03 23.84 23.84 23.85 12.48 The fact that he was pushed hard through the wire isn't a great sign as the slowing time could mean he was tiring but still a very solid race. Jazil's fractions are interesting as well: 24.99 23.36 23.44 24.57 13.20 The good news is I am pretty sure Jazil had never broke 24 for a 2 furlong stretch in any of his races so at least he showed a little more speed than in his previous efforts. The bad news is the energy he used to run furlongs 3 through 6 under 47 really took its toll as he was crawling down the stretch going slower than he had ever gone at any point in any of his previous races. |
106 Beyer for Corinthian.

Jazil didn't get the pace he needs..... People forget---that not only was the Belmont 12 furlongs---but that race totally collapsed. Jazil won that from last place, and the horses who raced 1, 2, 3, 4 early on---all went too fast, and would up finishing like 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th. |

I guess I almost got to have Cole Norman up as my avatar today.... |
Corinthian got a 106 Beyer
Corinthian's 106 Beyer is on the Leaderboard at DRF. Jazil must have gotten about a 90, since he finished 9.5 lengths back.

Oops, I just noticed in another thread that BTWind had scooped me with the Corinthian Beyer fig by a mere 14 hours.
Sorry about that. --Dunbar |
