You run that race at Belmont going 1 1/8th to 1 1/4, Jazil wins..

Only if Corinthian is not in the race. They could run that race in Jazil's fantasy and he's still not beating Corinthian.

Both nice horses.Any way you cut it,these people would be better off to not put one or the other down.It would be very fair to prefer Corinthian on this track today. He has run very well here. They would rather talk sht about Jazil than to use him to give them a 5-1 exacta...Fine.

anyone have a link to the replay?

Fractions today for Corinthian were pretty remarkable in their consistency:

24.03
23.84
23.84
23.85
12.48

The fact that he was pushed hard through the wire isn't a great sign as the slowing time could mean he was tiring but still a very solid race.

Jazil's fractions are interesting as well:
24.99
23.36
23.44
24.57
13.20

The good news is I am pretty sure Jazil had never broke 24 for a 2 furlong stretch in any of his races so at least he showed a little more speed than in his previous efforts. The bad news is the energy he used to run furlongs 3 through 6 under 47 really took its toll as he was crawling down the stretch going slower than he had ever gone at any point in any of his previous races.

106 Beyer for Corinthian.

So then like a 75 for Silver Knockers and a 90 and below for the other 13 horses in the allowances?

When jazil was used down the back stretch, i was surprised , could this have been a workout within the race.

Silver Knockers ran at 7 furlongs---the same variant isn't used for both one-turn and two-turn races.

The pace was too slow---and his main rivals in the betting, Corinthian and King of Jazz were sitting 1-2 up on that soft pace---in a better tactical spot.

Jazil didn't get the pace he needs.....

People forget---that not only was the Belmont 12 furlongs---but that race totally collapsed. Jazil won that from last place, and the horses who raced 1, 2, 3, 4 early on---all went too fast, and would up finishing like 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th.

Funny thing about those Grade 1 races is that the pace is gunna be a bit more honest than some of these allowance races. You might not be able to go a 47 half without somebody looking you right in the eye. No,they aren't allowance races.

The Indomitable DrugS 02-08-2007 08:18 PM

There are A LOT of slow paced Grade 1 races run each year.

May I congratulate you on your incredible bad taste in having the former happy couple as your avatar. Now if we can just manage to get Paris, and Britney to do the same...... Question is who gets the $$ now, the surviving infant ?

The Indomitable DrugS 02-08-2007 09:13 PM

Who cares who gets the money......and who cares about celebs in general.

I guess I almost got to have Cole Norman up as my avatar today....

Corinthian got a 106 Beyer

Corinthian's 106 Beyer is on the Leaderboard at DRF. Jazil must have gotten about a 90, since he finished 9.5 lengths back.

Oops, I just noticed in another thread that BTWind had scooped me with the Corinthian Beyer fig by a mere 14 hours.

Sorry about that.
