I was just kidding. I love the horse, so much more fun to follow a horse like him that you know will be running 12-15 times a year in big races than some lightly raced colt that does well in stakes races and is then whisked off to stud.

You think Sir Greeley will be making 12-15 starts a year?

How many, pray tell, did this running machine make last year?

Without his PP's, probably made more starts than Ghostzapper but not as many as Dilligent Gambler or Sir Tyler T.

 Now this is a horse with a lot of starts under it's belt!

He made 17 starts between April '05 and May '06 before getting a badly needed six month break. I'd expect he will put together another similar streak although 12-15 is more realistic. There aren't too many other horses out there racing 17 times in a 13 month span with the majority of those starts in stakes company.

To be exact, 10 of those 17 were in stakes races.

It is easier to manipulate data...

How many starts did he make in 2005 and 2006. I assume he made at least 12-15 during one of those calendar years.

Yeah, and a one turn mile is more to his liking. He's probably just too slow.

Mach Ride is going to win the Mr. Prospector earlier in the day.

13 in 2005, 8 in 2006 with a six month break.

That's 21. Pedigreequery shows him with 19 career starts. Which is right? And did he not race at all as a 2yo in 2004?

Without having PP's, over Weigilia and Kelly's Landing? (has High Finance raced since the Perryville?)

He has 21 starts with 7 wins and 5 seconds and just under $418,000:

http://www.gulfstreampark.com/NR/rdo...HalHopePPs.pdf

Debuted in January of his 3yo season. Ran terribly twice that month and didn't return until April which started the 17 races in 13 months string. Then took six months off and has made two starts since.

SniperSB23 01-04-2007 01:25 PM

By the way, this is a pretty nice field for a G3 in early January. Looks like the decision to cut this race back from two turns at 9 furlongs to one turn at 8 furlongs was a good one. Now if only they'd do the same for the Holy Bull.

I guess High Finance could win, though he was supposed to go in the Malibu, and one has to always be concerned when West Point misses a Grade 1. Kelly's Landing is ridiculous and I don't like Wegilia and would have to think the mud had a lot to do with his last win.

I haven't seen the pps but I think Mach Ride is a good horse. A VERY good horse.

They did.

Gander 01-04-2007 01:29 PM

Its a great field. Could easily pass as a grade 2 and I have seen plenty of grade 1's not as good as this.

Gulfstream does a wonderful job with Saturday cards.
