Good for him! We only have one life we know of.

"Owner tearfully release AP after triple crown win"

“You’ve done more than I could have asked, and now you’re free to roam and run wherever you please,” said the horse’s owner, Ahmed Zayat, who, following American Pharoah’s victory in the Belmont Stakes, is said to have transported the 3-year-old colt deep into the country near a forest clearing, removed its saddle, and given the animal one last kiss on the forehead before setting it free.

Heh heh, right! I was hoping Andy Borowitz would do a piece with American Pharoah, but he opted for LeBron instead.

It's looks like you've been included now.

Congratulations. Of course, it's a nice touch mocking others while feigning innocence, then putting the blame elsewhere.

It's a wonder to behold, this sort of irrational unraveling.

What would be cool is to have everyone reread these threads in two years.

Zayat said most likely Haskell on ATR

Had the pleasure of meeting Justin Zayat yesterday. He was a really nice guy. Not that I was expecting any kind of scoop or truthful answer, but he said they were indeed looking at the Haskell & that AP came out of the race fine.
Take it for what its worth.

and for those who 'don't like zayat' blah blah blah.....

i hope you'd consider paynter-everyone gave up on that horse, but the owners didn't. how quickly memories fade.

Mr. Zayat is a horseman first and a business owner second. Just the way we like'em. He cares and he shows it.

See I was going to ask if you could send me rusty razor blades so I could slit my wrists (and I like the Zayats :) )but your response is good, too.

Canterbury???

According to Paul Allen and KFAN radio, Canterbury Park and Mystic Lake Casino & Hotel are in the final stages of crafting an offer for a $2 million purse race that will take place at the end of August.

Under its current format, The Mystic Lake Derby rolls with a prize purse of $200,000. If, and only if, American Pharoah accepts an invitation, the Derby will undergo a few adjustments, most notably knocking the purse up to $2,000,000! On top of the prize purse increase the 1 mile distance turf race, will be extended and pushed onto the main track (dirt).

That would be incredible (for me) as I will have been present for 4 straight races of his if they in fact go this route, as unlikely as it is.

At any rate, I'm over the moon that they will likely continue to run him.

I'd go Haskell, JCGC and then Breeders' Cup Classic.
