Well, this thread was a fun read.

Yes, AP's time was slow, hardly a surprise considering the track condition. Hustled to the lead, his opening half was fast enough, and then he relaxed. He did exactly what VE asked him to do. The horse eventually separated himself from the field, and Victor barely even showed him the whip in the stretch, so the time means next to nothing to me.

I know "the odds" are against him winning the Belmont, but I'm liking his chances, even against Frosted and the Pletcher trio. This horse shows heart.

But what do I know. I even like FLW.

Nice post. :D

yeah, stevens' remarks on firing line were spot on. he said the horse was quite unhappy.

ElPrado 05-19-2015 12:30 AM

I'd be unhappy, too, with 40 lbs of mud dripping from me and probably a pulled muscle or two from having no footing to speak of coming out of the gate.

He's speed crazy and won't rate, he is too slow and will have traffic problems.

He's overrated. He has perfect trips. The race was handed to him. He doesn't beat anyone that's good, he won't face tough competition next time out, etc.

Why aren't people appreciating a spectacular horse?

This really might just be a truly once in a blue moon horse. Enjoy him. They are rare.

well i have been supporting him all along. there are just a lot of haters on this board. know it alls who thrive on putting others down. since my dortmund-a.p. rivalry wont happen i'm all Pharaoh now. i hope it rains on belmont day cause he is 2 for 2 in the off going.

this is the year!!!!!

I think I'm starting to see what the AP detractor crowd is talking about.

Enough of this. You're the one injecting negativity into this discussion, no one else.

A mirror of life even here no less with haters and lovers . . . who'd a thunk it and when the Belmont starts I'll calmly collect myself to keep me from busting out of my DonGuido Irish skin . . . when he crosses the wire to simply win again!!!

whatever man...not going to try to figure out all the cryptic posts and BS. you have yourself a great day!:p

DonGuido 05-19-2015 11:02 PM

I just realized something that maybe some of really tuned in horse people here already know but it wasn't evident to me until now. I'm slow at times ;) but after watching several interviews, articles etc. with and on Bob Baffert . . . he not only trains this horse but he out and out LOVES THIS HORSE.

And it hurts me to see he is playing it so professionally and controlled and . . . well I would love to here him just blurt it out and scream "Pharoah will kick some big time booty net race and will be LOVING IT all the way around the Belmont track". Bob truly loves this horse. But Bob is a freaking professional, which sucks sometimes.

Other than that, Bob's a pretty good trainer too.;):D

Possibly Winstar, more likely Coolmore. Perhaps the Dubai people.

Kasept 05-20-2015 05:22 AM

Oddly handled. It's Ashford Stud (Coolmore). I didn't think this was news as the basics of a deal were reportedly in place last year.

bare it all 05-20-2015 07:22 AM

Coolmore has a thing for 2YO eclipse winners.... lol

You can call me a hater, but Funny Cide and Smarty Jones Preakness was more impressive than AP. And we all know that the breeding caught up with both of them in The Belmont. Just like it will do AP in. If Materialty had a clean break, he would be going for The Crown, not AP, Let it rain all you want, Belmont is redemption day for Materiality

Breeding had nothing to do with it.

Funny Cide ran up against a much better horse that was more ready for the Belmont than he had been for the Derby.

SJ's Belmont was, in my eyes, his most impressive race.
