the notable missing names were Wiggins and Bennett. Maybe accidental, but I think those two at least would go in a trade for Love.

I agree with you, it was odd. I just don't think its such a slam dunk. Wiggins will be great and Lebron only helps that. Minnesota is losing Love anyway. Cavs should not overpay for him.

It's still Cleveland....they'll screw this up somehow. You can take that to the bank.

LeBron made the right choice.

Congrats horse, morty, and the other 1400 cavs fans.

Pants II 07-11-2014 12:11 PM

It's plausible they stick with Wiggins and Bennett.

Bennett hasn't earned a mention and Wiggins is a rook. Could be as simple as that.

Pants II 07-11-2014 12:15 PM

So that decision just helped Bosh and Wade's bank accounts.

LeBron working on that image. The only thing he's done wrong is The Decision.

If they do trade for Love and sign The Jesus Shuttlesworth and Mac Miller then they're a lock for the Finals.

They are a lock for finals as is right now! A stone cold lock. No one in the east is close. How much better will Irving and Waiters be now....

Pants II 07-11-2014 01:12 PM

They are far more formidable with Love. He's liable to shoot 45% from 3 pt range.

I don't disagree. I just think Wiggins could be special. Plus they might have to give Waiters and Bennett and a pick. All these guys will improve with Lebron playing there.

Jeremy Linn to Lakers. Bosh to Houston. If they match for Parsons they are scary good.

Cannon Shell 07-11-2014 05:21 PM

Bosh stays in Miami. $118 million is a lot of money.

Here was the opening of 'All Bets Are Off' from Monday. Sheridan is a guest on the show from time to time, and Bruce says he fed him.

Pretty obvious that his source was someone high ranking in the Cavs organization.

Even though the Cavs told Wiggins they wouldn't part with him -- Drennan insisted all week long that the Cavs are willing to part with Wiggins to make a trade for Love happen, as long as they could secure a long-term commitment from Love.

He's called everything right, this week. So it sounds like Bye Bye Wiggins...because they're willing to part with him to make it happen, as long as Minnesota doesn't roll-over or something.

That makes me think the Houston option for Bosh was if LeBron had signed with Miami. That's why Bosh was waiting. I think everyone had that scenario backward including me. That money ain't there if LeBron goes to Miami.

true

Everyone on the outside wants us to believe that "rings" are all these guys think of but Bosh already has 2, apparently loves living in Miami and gets an extra 30 million to stay and be the main guy again. Makes a lot of sense when you see it in hindsight

I know everyone is going ga ga over Cleveland but even with Love minus Wiggins they are a really weak defensive team with really suspect depth. IMO right now if Rose is healthy Chicago with the addition of Gasol is the team to beat in the East. Gasol might be a little over the hill but if only needed to play 25-28 mins a game like SA does with Duncan in the reg season he can be a huge difference maker in the playoffs. If Mirotic is as advertised and McDermott can come in and shoot well Chicago's 1-8 is the best in the East.

RockHardTen1985 07-14-2014 05:37 PM

Cleveland is the best team in the east without Love if they pull that trade they are the best team in the NBA. East could be fascinating. Assuming Wade is healthy Miami is no worst then the 4-5 best team.

King Glorious 07-15-2014 11:19 AM

Right now, I place Chicago on top with Indiana second and Cleveland probably third. Cleveland has no offensive big man at all and Varajao is undersized defensively. He can give you a few good minutes here and there but would get exposed in a series. I've said this before but I don't like teaming ball dominant wing men with ball dominant point guards. Jordan won six without one. Bryant won five. Bird won three. James has two. Wade won one. All of these guys work best when they run the offense. Irving is not an off the ball player and neither is James. Both of them are most effective with the ball. With players like them, Cleveland needs shooters around them to space the floor and neither Waiters or Wiggins fits that bill.

Bill Simmons must have a staff of 40 to pull together an article like this on Melo, the NBA and about a million other things...great read

Cowherd ripped it, in a sense.
