no surprise, glad it happened.

i was surprised, tho, that the browns sent their coach packing after just one year.
there was word that the vikes let their coach go, but then minnesota said no, that they hadn't.

will schwartz remain? doubt it.
and sorry, jets fans. the owner wants to continue the punishment.

Frazier in Minny is gone. I would be shocked if Schwartz wasn't canned either. Garrett's a yes man, that's the only reason that he still has a job.

As far as Rex goes, I think you are way off base. He did a tremendous job with a team that frankly wasn't that good. He's still is the best fit for that team/organization. I think it was a wise move. Don't forget, he's still pretty much a pup as far as his Head Coaching career goes, you would think that he himself will continue to get better as a coach as well.

it just seems to me that rex is a better dc than he is a head coach. he needs to find someone who can develop the offense for him, because i don't think he can do it. i don't care for his style either. talk is cheap, and he's a talker instead of a doer.

He has the worst skill position players in the league. It is really tough to develop nothing into something. They need RB's and WR's. Smith is a work in progress and it is way too early to render a verdict on him.

He's definitely a loud mouth, it's one of those acts that you love if he's with you and hate if he's against you. I also think that he's toned it down a bit. Tough to talk trash when you're not that good. Also you lose credibility after making predictions that never come true. But the fact that they won 8 games with that cast in what was supposed to be a throw away year speaks volumes. He really did a tremendous job.

Since the 2 AFC title games, he's been dealt some lousy cards and has had some coaching growing pains moment, but it looks like he's learning (i.e. benching Geno at times this season). In my opinion he's still the best guy for that job.

Looks like he has a QB again and an offensive coordinator that seems to have a decent handle on what his offense can and can not do. Also the defense seems to be going back in the right direction.

As much as it pains me to say it, this organization that always has the knack for doing the wrong thing, made the right move here. It could be an interesting year (in a good way) for them next season.

I'll let the resident Jets fans answer from here on in.

I am not a Rex fan. The players do love him.

He lasted one season more than I thought he would last.

Not surprised in the least. Seems like he lacks what it would take to get that team over the hump. Stuck in mediocrity.

At the QB position too.

To much talent, not to have taken control and won that division with GB and Chicago hurting with injuries. Good decision in my opinion.

Stafford may not have taken that major elite step, but he's got talent in my opinion. Perhaps this could be really good for him.

Yeah he has talent, but I lump him into the Tony Romo category. Lights it up stats wise, but with game on the line the only time I want the ball in his hand is if my team is on defense.

Sources reporting Bill O'Brien to be named HC of the Houston Texans tomorrow, opening the door for our recently departed to show off his mad skillz at Penn State. Quite a resume to walk into that job with.

The Bucs make a surprising early move (they learned their lesson apparently) bringing Lovie Smith back. I was sort of hoping we would go after a more offensive-minded HC, considering the holes that need to be filled particularly at QB. Without a GM in place most likely until after the playoffs, I'd say the are going to wait before naming any further appointments, though rabid speculation has recently fired Cal coach Jeff Tedford as the OC and Leslie Frazier as the DC. That would be quite a coup to pull off indeed.

Lovie Smith is a disaster as a coach. Good Luck with him

The game has completely changed since he was effective. Look a the playoffs - Every team in is Offense-driven. It's not 2000 any more ~ his coaching style is passe and ill-effective in today's game.

Believe me, I wasn't jumping up and down like everyone else in this town was when he was announced. I'm hoping for the best and looking forward to next year optimistically. Definitely an improvement, but we need to see what other rabbits the Glazers pull out of their hats. I hate it that the GM is not even being talked about, considering his input should be vital in the direction of the franchise, but this is the game today - if you wait until after the playoffs to install a GM, there are no quality coaching prospects left, as they learned 2 years ago.
