In the most famous version of the tale told by Ole Vic, Rosario, an undersized elf, falls in love with a vain demi-god (or is it demagouge?) Staufficus, who was the son of the blue nymph Liariope of Lesbia. The horse god Sypholis, had once encircled Liarope with the windings of his bullcrap, and thus trapping her, had seduced the nymph, who gave birth to an exceptionally beautiful boy... Staufficus.

When he had reached "his sixteenth year", (fifteen years of age, by modern reckoning) every youth and girl in the town was in love with Staufficus, but he haughtily spurned them all. He believed them not to be worthy of his love.

One day when Staufficus was out hunting stag, Rosario stealthily followed the handsome youth through the woods, longing to address him but unable to speak first. When Staufficus finally heard footsteps and shouted "And here comes Zeeeeeeeen-yata", Rosario answered "And here comes Zeeeeeeeen-yata" And so it went, with audience roars being pumped into the background until finally Rosario showed herself and rushed to embrace the lovely Staufficus. He pulled away from the undersized elf and vainly told her to leave him alone. Staufficus left Rosario heartbroken and she spent the rest of her life in the lonely glens of WinStar Farms, pining away for the love she never knew, until only her voice remained.

For this transgression against Rosario Staufficus would be punished by the muse Stewardesius.

One day, Staufficus came across a deep pool in a forest, from which he took a drink. As he did, he saw his reflection for the first time in his life and fell in love with the beautiful boy he was looking at, not realizing it was himself. Eventually, after pining away for a while, he realized that the image he saw in the pool was a reflection of himself. Realizing that he could not act upon this love, he tore at his dress and beat at his body, his life force draining out of him.

Thanks to all of you for reading.

Happy Holidays

Rene Douglas won a riding title at hollywood park few years back if I recall.

Rene did win a title. He was on a roll at that time though.

It's a shame what happened. Hope he's doing o.k.

Mr. P approves of Rosario leaving.

It's looking like Rafael Bejarano should be send Joel a thank you card for shifting to NY. He's already won the first two races today and he's on the favorite in the third today at BHP.

Wasn't Bejarano already winning at a 28 or 29 % clip BEFORE Rosario left?

Jackson 06-28-2012 04:03 PM

True, but now he's winning at 100%. it's a small sample.:)

Gomez is his only real competitor out there when he decides to ride.
Freakin colony is abysmal.

I laughed.

Like I mentioned in Sunday's play along thread...you have Agapito Delgadillo winning at 14%, Edwin Maldonado winning at 17%, DFlo winning at 17% (would be under 10% if he wasn't a decent turf rider), Chantal is winning at 15%.

Most overated jock colony. Ever.

He seems to be going the Prado route, quickly. When he was at his best, Rosario and Bejerano couldn't touch him.

Ramon Guce has a mount today. One less than Quinonez has. I just can't figure out why Quinonez can't succeed out there, he seems like a good rider.

no cares about riding at HP summer, if you did real well there it means you missed most of the big summer event days back east.

Other than Rosario going east, when has the Southern California colony been any better than what is riding at Hollywood right now in any part of the year the last couple of years?

Not sure....my point was using the standings at HP summer to judge how a rider is doing in the socal circuit is like using Aqu winter to judge who is doing well in NY. You actually only want to be there a few weekends a during the whole meet.

rpncaine 06-29-2012 11:12 AM

Looks like Nakatani is coming back to Socal. Tweet from Christina Oliveras just a few minutes ago.

I have not followed him in recent years but I always like him as a rider.
