i figure they are just giving her time, and will revisit the idea in the fall. if she's healthy and the vets say go for it..

anyway, she looks great. glad to know she's happy, healthy and fully recovered.

Barbara Livingston did a blog/photo spread of Rachel. Some nice shots of Rachel with other mares or jumping about and looking at the camera.

No mention of whether they plan to breed her again, and Barbara said in the comments that she didn't ask because that's not what the article was to be about. Someone had asked her about it with a bit of pearl clutching and you just wanna tell people that RA's not their horse and they don't have inside info on her medical status. Stonestreet clearly treats her like a queen. They'll make the decision at some point if they haven't already and they don't need outside angsting to remind them of how beloved she is.

Thanks for posting... I might have missed this.

Just thought everybody might be interested in a quote from Barbara Banke in the interview she did with Keeneland.com. http://t.co/8MGxKauZ4A

Regarding Rachel: “She’s doing great, but she’ll probably never be a mom again,” Banke said. “She wasn’t bred this year or last year, but the public still loves her. She gets fan mail and requests to visit her all the time. The fans haven’t forgotten her.”

Basically indicating where they are on Rachel's future motherhood potential more than I've really heard articulated up to this point even though we kinda suspected it already. I'm curious about their plans as far as naming the filly, but I guess we'll hear about that eventually. I assume the fans won't be suggesting names for this one. Since it's very likely Rachel's last, Barbara might want that for herself and that'd be perfectly understandable.

That's too bad that she won't have any more.

Maybe they would consider her going to my horse park?

What a life she lives.. Must be nice :)

As far as Rachel, very unfortunate, but totally understandable for the risks are just not worth her dying or almost dying again.

a comeback on the track......

I'm thrilled she won't be bred again. Of course I wish she didn't have foaling complications to begin with, but I am thrilled they are doing right by the horse... you don't always see that in this business.
