Wow, what a back track! He shouldn't have talked about it but Maragh deserved 30 days?

I am enjoying your childish eagerness to turn the discussion back to attacking me. Some people just can't help themselves, I guess. Insecurity?

In contrast to your imagination, I never said Johnny shouldn't have talked about it. He should have stuck with what he first publicly said about it coming off the horse on NBC. That was appropriate. Yes, I think the public accusation of a deliberate attack at the press conference was unprofessional, and bad for racing. It was also trying to influence the stewards into action by trying the case in the press. Yeah, I also think 10 days is short, but at least they did something.

Incredibly obtuse and obstinate (frighteningly in that order), a lethal combination!

Your opinion in this thread has been egregious and now you're trying to save face. You have said REPEATEDLY that it was unprofessional of Johnny V to say anything but now you're saying he should have just done it once, on TV rather than in a press conference.

Stop with the bad for racing nonsense, the majority of people won't even know Maragh got suspended. The only way this is going to be known by the majority of Americans or racing fans is if Maragh and Johnny get into a fight.

You are HORRIBLE with making personal remarks about other people when you get defensive. I am completely secure and spared you no leeway in pointing what I believe to be your inconsistent and generally awful opinion on this topic and others.

Bullshit. My opinion has remained the same, and if you don't like it - or can't understand it - that's your problem. Not mine.

If only you knew half of what you were ranting about, if you only bothered to read before you attack other posters, you wouldn't be putting both feet in your mouth and looking so asinine.

You apparently didn't see what Johnny V. said on NBC as he got off the horse? He didn't make any accusations against Rajiv, he just described getting slammed. That was professional.

Where he crossed the line was at the press conference. Completely unprofessional of Johnny V. to accuse another jock of deliberately attempting to harm jocks and horses at that press conference, before meeting with the stewards.

And that's what I said - not that he shouldn't talk about getting slammed. It was the accusation of deliberate attack.

You don't like my opinion, tough luck for you. And I don't have to take your nonsensical made up crap stupidly mischaracterizing things I didn't say.

Dahoss 06-15-2011 02:20 PM

Herkhorse described it as waterboarding....I'd say it's worse.

You went pretty far out of your way to talk about how unprofessional it was for Johnny to say anything before admitting you thought Maragh actually was guilty of wrongdoing.

This bad for the game stuff is idiotic. It ignores the (lack of) popularity racing has and seeks to keep people from speaking their mind. If it took Johnny Saturday night and Sunday morning to watch the head-on and think about what happened why should he keep his mouth shut?

Generally the people who talk about what's bad for the game and try to hold its participants to some ridiculous standard are the ones who never do what's good for the game. When was the last time you placed a wager?

No I didn't. All I said was that was unprofessional of Johnny V. to accuse another jock of deliberately trying to harm man and horse at that press conference.

That the predictable few on this list immediately went off on another one of their ridiculous group orgies of stupidity and assumption against another poster is just the way it often goes here.

BTW, nice try to change the subject and talk about how often I wager. Tell us all up front - how much money and frequency will suit you guys? :D

And when was the last time you helped a horse?

Stewart Elliot was dumb enough to take his bait and go with him. Smarty Jones was on the lead and the inexperienced Stewart Elliot played into the fast pace. Eddington did finish 4th and not dead last as you may have played the race in your head.

I kinda hope he does appeal it, just so he gets stuck with 10 days. I agreed with Rich Migliore's take. His analysis of the situation was very well done.

"Inexperienced"? Elliott had won probably 3,700 races in maybe 20,000 rides by the time Smarty Jones came along... very inexperienced. The decision Elliot made was dictated by the horse. Riders will explain that you're always better off giving the mount leeway in that situation than trying to continue to restrain them. The energy they expend fighting the rider will have a greater negative impact then giving them their head and letting them go as far as they can.

Finished fourth by what, like 20 lengths? Because finishing last by 20 or 4th by 20 really makes a big difference.

My bad, I have been trying to selectively read some of the posts in the thread and I accidently must have skipped yours.

lol that was a diplomatic way of putting that. No worries, I often do the same thing when threads get lengthy and whatever issue is ongoing like this one. It's not that I don't want to read what people have written, I just know that sometimes there's a fair amount of snarking back and forth on emotionally charged issues, or old/out-dated info, and sometimes you just want the latest on the situation.

Then there's the fun part where you post one link, they update it at Bloodhorse or DRF, and people get testy about something you said that is now irrelevant but wasn't when you posted the link originally. Good times.
