They will pass the Tigers...you watch.

GPK 09-13-2011 09:22 PM

Maybe tonight was just what the doctor ordered. A good ole fashion ass-whipping of the Jays, while the O's beat the Rays.

Antitrust32 09-14-2011 03:31 PM

Guess who's in the playoffs? The Phillies.

already clinched. 95 wins on sep 14th. Go Team!

Bigsmc 09-29-2011 09:37 PM

Are the Red Sox still finished?

Francona Gone?

Terry Francona will meet with Red Sox management on Friday morning, and the expected resolution is that he no longer will be the team’s manager, major league sources say.

It's like we went back in time! Anyway, two quick baseball points:

Cannon was congratulating Adam Dunn yesterday on his putrid season. Funny thing is, as bad as he was this year, his OBP was still higher than Carl Crawford's.

Totally irrelevant, but Tigers are 18-8 against this year's playoff teams (beating the doodie out of the Rays and Rangers comprises most of those 18 wins).

There's a stat: the Yankees haven't beat anybody not named the Twins in a division series since 2001.

Dunn did one thing compentently, walk. I'm sure the WS are hoping he walks off a bridge in the off season.

I can't believe Francona is out.

He seemed burned out, like this collapse frustrated him to the point that he wanted to walk away. It was surprising to hear his comments about the players behavior down the stretch. I think he realized he had lost the room.

I think if they waited a week or two, he may still be managing next year, but this seemed like an emotional decision (perhaps for management and Francona), two days after the season.

I think he"ll be managing next season and to go one step further it will be somewhere in Chicago (most likely the south side). It just seems like a good fit.

Let's see...Francona at $4-5 Mill a year or Sandy Alomar at $750K a year...which do you think Reinsdorf will choose? In the past 15 years he has never hired a manager who had ever managed before.

The fact that they outright claimed Alex Rios up off waivers a couple of years ago, tells me that they aren't exactly the most finacially prudent team in the world.

The only thing that makes me think that he wouldn't end up in Chicago is Kenny Williams. He seems like he could be very difficult to deal with.

Maybe the Cubbies will make a splash.

I'm pretty sure Kenny Williams put the claim in there as expections to block the move or negotiate a deal. Not just be given Rios and his contract and be told 'Have a Nice Day.'

While not really thrilled about Quade as Manager of the clubbers, I doubt they make a change there yet. But then if they bring Theo over (mistake), then a good possibility.

I'm not a big Red Sox fan but I hope Bobby V. does well. He's quite a character.
