Offensively, who's teams have been consistently worse in the post? LaRussa won a ring (a few years ago) with crap. He's better. Lasorda won a ring in '88 with one REAL good starting pitcher, Gibby, and a rare Scioscia man up. While he was a rather mediocre strategic manager, his teams twice man'd up in the post. Didn't he go to the big show 4 times, and win 2? Wasn't supposed to win either of them. I just think Bobby was a short-term weak motivational individual. Obviously, he was better at that over 162 games.

Part of their job is motivational leader. That was not the man's strong point.

Sadly, I think he actually settled in the last time we faced him. Dodgers don't count though. We are so poorly run that it won't surprise me if we get him.

I wasn't aware that players needed extra motivation in the playoffs.

Im sure LEE is better right now.

In the playoffs maybe. Overall, Halladay's easily better.

Didn't matter, Lee could have pitched for 60 innings tonight and the Yanks weren't going to score a run.

SCUDSBROTHER 10-18-2010 10:25 PM

Cruz is 30 ? How the f was this guy not good at 18-27? That's weird.

Everything. There's a reason nobody thinks Andy Pettitte is better than C.C. Sabathia.

Lee is terrific for sure. Halladay's no hitter in the playoffs gives him 5 or 6 more games to see if he's as good as Lee in the playoffs.

Halladays last outing wasnt bad, not spectacular, but it should have been a 7 inning 2 run performance, cause Ibanez NEEDs to make that catch in the outfield to end the inning instead of having 2 runs score.

I'll still take a Halladay - Oswalt - Hamels trio over a Lee-Hamels rotation any day of the week.

Would be absolutely hilarious if it's TX and Philly and CL stuffs them twice … and TX takes the series.

Could you just see the look on bonehead Amaro's face if that scenario plays out … LOL

That said, lookin' forward to watching my man Hollywood later on today…

Amaro is faaaaaaaar from a bonehead.

Everything Amaro has done so far has been right, except for the prospects he got back for Lee. Should have got better baseball players for Cliff Lee.

And there would be nothing hilarious about Cliff Lee shutting the Phillies down twice. But first we need to get through the Giants. I dont care what happens with TX & NY... though I always enjoy seeing the Yankees lose.

Sometimes you should just stick to Zenyatta, Booth.. its hard to find faults in a team that is playing in their third straight NLCS.

randallscott35 10-19-2010 12:34 PM

Postseason Cliff Lee 7-0 1.10 ERA....Whoa.

Smooth Operator 10-19-2010 01:33 PM

Best clutch pitcher in the business

Still stunning to think about the way Amaro treated him during the off-season

If that scenario above ever came true, it would be some seriously sweet poetic justice for CL

Of course, Antichrist32 would still think that Amaro was a genius…

Rangers vs. Giants World Series will result in a 1 year personal moratorium on threads started about Islam, Turks, or the Dodgers.

How did Amaro treat him in the offseason? He got Halladay which was his goal. Did he talk poorly about Lee's family or something? I don't remember reading that. Unless he did that, I don't think he was treated poorly. Halladay is a better pitcher than Lee. Period. Lee is on a different plane in postseason granted and his first 8 postseason starts are perhaps the best ever. A team in 3 straight NLCS series' along with one world championship so far is a phenomenal job. It's simply a case of the Giants top 3 of Lincecum, Cain and Sanchez is very close and can match up with Halladay, Oswalt and Hamels. It's a great series.

All reports are that Lee will play in siberia if they give him the most money after this year. If there was no possible way for them to sign him after this year which I'm guessing is likely, they chose Halladay and tried to get something in return for Lee. I have no problem with anything they did, and they added Oswalt for the playoffs. The postseason can be a crap shoot and they may not get there, but they are in a great spot right now without Lee. They made their decisions and it's worked out fine regardless of if they beat the Giants or not.
