Here are the stats for Gulfstream this past winter.

http://www.gulfstreampark.com/RACING...ll+Statistics/

Lezcano rode more winners than Velazquez, Garcia, maragh and Leparoux. He won at a rate of 18%. Leparoux was 13%.

Here are the stats for the Spring Belmont meet.

http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbT...AT=J&STYLE=BEL

Lezcano won with 23% of his mounts and was 4th in wins despite riding many fewer horses than many of the top jocks.

Again, he had a bad meet. His career is far from over.

100% correct, but why bother? Dude obviously lost a wager on Fly Down and hopefully, he and the other Lezcano detractors don't ever wager on a horse he is riding again.

It was plain to see he wasn't riding well. What's so difficult about factoring that into your handicapping?

Sure, and after I did that, this guy somehow channels Eddie Arcaro, or the Smashing Lad, William Buick, with the perfect ride he gave Keertana in the feature:zz:

He got lucky. He is clearly incompetent. As an aside to the race, I wonder if Durkin will ever learn to properly pronounce Kiawah Cat?:wf:zz:

He included Martin Garcia too.

No way, no how.

You're missing the point. MOST good jocks can keep horses on righty lead in the drive. If you watch enough races you realize that while horses do win when they don't change leads, they win even less when they stay on righty lead briefly, changing back lefty. This is because, obviously, they've gone around the turn lefty. Watching a few of Lezcano's rides makes it obvious that he not only is a very weak handler of horses when it counts, in the lane, but he's unable to keep them on righty lead. Clearly, there are horses that don't change leads or, even, more rarely, horses that change repeatedly. Typically, multiple changers are cheaper horses, mostly fillies, and sore horses. This isn't the case with Stevil. In fact, I believe that just about any other jock wins with Stevil last time out.

Is there an argument that maintaining the same lead, and thus continuity of stride, is a huge plus in winning a race? Your better jocks, those, in particular, that can finish well, excel at this. Your weaker finishers don't.

You do realize you're pretty much a joke, right? Stevil has raced 30 times now. He has 6 wins and and 8 seconds in those 30 starts. All 6 of those wins have come with Lezcano up. 6 of the 8 seconds have come with him up. JV finished 2nd with him once and Cornelio finished 2nd with him once.

The following jocks have also ridden Stevil with combined 0 wins and 2 seconds:

JV
Cornelio
Bejerano
Alan Garcia
Castro
Hill
Castellano
Maragh
Luis Garcia
Bravo
J. Bridgmo

You really think this is about handicapping?

He should go back and look at the Travers and many other threads before he makes stupid comments. I basicley tossed everyone but the cold exacta, a week before the race.

iamthelurker 09-08-2010 10:55 AM

This thread has gotten silly, everyones entitled to their opinion. Time will only tell how this kids career plays out. Done.

So, I wonder which part he thought was stupid, that I agreed with Hossy that Lezcano's career is not over or that I adjusted the way I handicapped the Lezcano ridden horses because he was riding poorly for the SPA meet? Or that I hoped they were so disgusted with Lezcano that they wouldn't wager on him again?

I'm not sure either and I don't know what him picking the exacta of the Travers has to do with either.

He must think it gives him more credibility.

Not really sure. Confusing.

Put more effort into not making stupid comments and we wont have to go through this again! ;)
