Scuds take -" Bunch of frakin women, That little guy only has a busted toe, if he had any guts he would be out there. And Martinez? Damn ***** has a little ol sore thumb. aint like is ia a good catcher anyhow"

Gales - "Injuries are part of the game and the Red sox were due to lose a few all stars because babe ruth played with hangover and still hit hr's. If Steinberenner were the owner he would have had them in better shape because he is a winner and the redsox r losers"

chuck you gotta do the work man, do the work , injuries or not , which you are overblowing , the schedule did not set up well for them over this 48 game stretch

Marty, whether the schedule set up against them or not, how could you give an honest evaluation on the team based on all the injuries they have? With all those injuries they would have struggled playing Cleveland, Oakland and Baltimore over that same span.

LOL

They started a guy named Dusty Brown at catcher in place of All Star Victor martinez or his back up former all star Jason Varitek. Dusty Brown has never been a regular at any level of the minor leagues.

They started Bill Hall at 2nd base today instead of all star and 2008 MVP Dustin Pedroia. Last year Hall played for 3 major league teams and hit .201. He is hitting .230 this year and has struck out 58 times in 183 at bats.

They started Jed Lowrie at SS, giving Marco Scutaro a much needed rest. This was Lowrie's first game of the year after hitting .147 last year.

They started Darnell McDonald in left field rather than Jacoby Ellsbury who hit .301 with 70 sb's last year. McDonald couldnt stick with powerhouses Baltimore, Cleveland or Washington. He was a lifetime.230 hitter coming into the season as a 32year old with 147 mLB games under his belt. he was pinch hit and replaced in the field by eric Patterson who has a .223 lifetime average.

Mike Cameron who was signed in the off season to play CF has played 41 of 95 games

Clay Buchholz who was named to the all star team this year was making his first start in close to a month today.

Josh Beckett who was 17-6 last year hasnt pitched since May 18

Yeah I'm sure the yankees minus Sabathia, Hughes, Cano, Posada, Cervelli, Gardner and Granderson wouldn't be hampered.

IF dusty brown was no big deal why was he taken out of deals last year by the red sox

Victor Martinez was not an all star this year , nor was he going to be , how many games would have victor had made a difference in a win/loss , maybe 1, maybe 2?

Elisbury has been out since April , come on chuck

Beckett was out before the bet

Bucholz missed all of 1 start

Cameron had injury issues before the bet

Before the 48 game stretch they had coasted on an easy schedule , this 48 game stretch even at full strength would have been brutal - west coast trips are just brutal and they had 2 on this sequence , the last 10 game trip with the yankees , rangers , and blue jays is just brutal , injuries or not .500 would have been great over this stretch

Pedroia i'll give you and Victor Martinez to some extent , but , there is no way to quantify how many wins these guys would have added to the total
