Repeal?

I doubt millions of Americans want to give up these following legal (as of this morning) rights:

Quote:

Below are some of the reforms that will take effect this year.

Are you uninsured due to a preexisting condition?
For now, insurers can continue to discriminate against people with preexisting conditions, but within 90 days the administration must create an "interim high-risk pool" for the uninsurable. The Department of Health and Human Services can run the $5 billion program itself or farm it out to states or nonprofits. To be eligible for the program, you have to be a U.S. citizen and uninsured for six months due to a preexisting condition.

Are your kids uninsured due to a preexisting condition?

Within six months the law will prohibit insurance companies from discriminating against children with preexisting conditions.

Do you have older kids who will soon "age-out" of your family plan? Young adults will be allowed to stay on their parents' plans until they turn 26, instead of being dropped at 19 or after college.

Are you a small-business owner?
The bill offers tax credits -- up to 35 percent the cost of premiums -- to small businesses to make it easier to cover employees this year.

Are you paying for drugs in the "doughnut hole"?
The law should begin to close the hole, which refers to a costly gap in Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage

Have you been dropped by your insurer because you got sick?
Six months from now, insurers will no longer be allowed to drop policyholders when they get sick.

He didn't get the 86 million percent increase in the money the government gives him every year that he was looking for, which is what he means every time he says the President doesn't care about the military. Which may or may not have had something to do with the economy...but he's Obama, so he was damned if he did, damned if he didn't with that topic.

Here are some other quotes from TJ:

"The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government. "

"The spirit of this country is totally adverse to a large military force. "

"Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government. "

I'm sorry all I heard was:
If you fail to purchase insurance you will be fined by the IRS.
If you fail to pay an annual $695 fine per person in your family..or TAX. Sent to prison for failure to pay when you are poor is unconstitutional.
If you develop an illness or are in an accident, then you can go buy health insurance and they have to take you. Insurance companies will be forced out of business.

But heck for every job lost at the insurance company can be gained at the IRS! :D

You're listening to the wrong people ;) What is posted above are scare tactics from last summer. They have only the faintest basis in reality, then are taken to absurd extreme.

Anything remotely to do with the above (not what is written above, but what is really contained within the bill, of which the above is not representative) doesn't come into effect until 2014.

Read the bill.

If you want free medical insurance, commit a felony!
(Wonder if coverage covers your family while you are in prison?)

WOW!!! Cobra now covers people who are employed!!!!!!

:p

Bob Schiefer of CBS News once said, "if you think health insurance is expensive now, just wait until it's free..."

Health reform has very little to do with "free insurance". It mostly provides simple consumer protections to those who work hard and pay for their own insurance. Like me. Who has paid for health insurance for decades, then was rescinded when I had a major medical expense - months AFTER the insurance company specifically approved and promised payment for that expense to the doctor and the hospital.

The military and retired military deserve more than good health care coverage. Call me being greedy if you wish. No COLA raise for retired military or Social Security yet gas and food and clothing goes up. This year the active received a meager %1.4. While his wife is blowing millions of our taxpaying dollars on a bullshit staff for herself that she doesnt need. Yet there is millions of dollars given away every time a country needs help. America needs to take care of America. No one else will.

I don't consider a COLA increase being greedy by any means, but unfortunately a lot of people are in the same boat this year. My wife didn't get one either and she definitely deserves at least that. As far as government employment/benefits go, the overall tax base isn't any bigger this year because corporations did poorly and used more tax credits on top of that, so it's no surprise they didn't give one. As for giving money to other countries I don't like it because we wouldn't get the same in a time of need but the majority of philanthropy is done outside of government...

Just out of curiosity, what news station do you generally watch? What op/ed pieces do you read? What newspapers/magazines do you read? I feel they are giving you a lot of spin, propaganda, and incorrect truths which is skewing your thoughts.

As far as magazines go I read Bloodhorse, DRF Simo Weekly and The Horseman which is a Harness Racing magazine. Newspapers I occasionally read the local paper where I live at which is near Houston,TX. I also enjoy listening to Glen Beck and Bill O'Reilly on Sirius along with ATRAB. Also I enjoy the fact that Sirius now has a feed of TVG on it when not pre empted by basketball. I also love listening to Howard Stern.

I do not care if healthy Americans will have their premiums go up because of this.

I care about my own safety and my own safety only. And at the moment, health insurance is astronomically expensive for me, and difficult because of a tiny pre existing condition that does not even affect how I live.

If this bill makes my life easier, but makes the lives of healthy Americans who have to pay more money because of this bill harder.....then GOOD!!!

As I said, I only care about my own welfare.

Just as Republicans do not care about me, I will not care about them.

Im sure you could care less about what the majority of American people feel about this bill.

Just curious what are your views on the following:

1. Do you feel a person who can work but isnt trying to find a job deserves free health insurance?

2. Do you feel an illegal should get this insurance. I dont think its going to affect them, they already undeservingly get everything free?

3. Why should a healthy American have to pay more so you can have health insurance?

I do feel for you having a hard time getting cheap insurance with you pre existing condition. If O'Dumbass is trying to regulate health insurance, why cant he regulate the price of gas? Im also sure that the Democrats could care less about you also.

1. In certain instances, yes. I think human life is important, and even though that person isn't trying hard now, you think he's going to encouraged to be encouraged to try in the future when he's thrown a $40,000 bill for a life saving surgery?

There should be free basic protection.

2. No I don't believe illegals should get free protection. The problem with illegals....is I don't believe they should even be in this country in the first place. They're illegal!!! and they eat up resources that should be reserved US citizens, like taking up doctor's time and filling up classrooms with students that shouldn't even be here in the first place.

If an illegal comes into the hospital, and can be identified as an illegal, maybe after initial treatment, I think he/she should get kicked out of the country.

That stance is probably more conservative than what most Democrats believe.

3. There may come a day when for whatever reason, a completely healthy person loses their health insurance and comes up with cancer.

I just think there should be basic protection that prevents someone from losing their life savings if they have a major disease that can be treated.

Besides that, a sick person without the means to treat his disease can't work.

i had a good year in 2009 and just found out my raise is 1.9%. i'm lucky though. i know quite a few people here received no raise at all.

i don't know too many people outside of wall street that bagged huge raises the last 12 months. i'm not saying 1.4% is great. but with close to 0% inflation, it's not meager either.
