ok last post until after lunch break.

WE ARE THE DEFENDING WORLD FREAKING CHAMPIONS GALES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pedro has been lights out. Hamels was the MVP of the World Series last year! He's had a rough year no doubt! Blanton is a bulldog.. you can say he sucks all you want but he's and iron horse and has been great for our team. Happ won like 12 or more games and was voted rookie of the year by his PEERS. Moyer won a ton of games and he's over the hill!!!

We blew 17 fucl<ing saves and STILL won the NL East!

There's these guys, I dont know if you have ever heard of them but their names are:

Jimmy Rollins
Shane Victorino
Chase "Fucl< You" Utley
Ryan "Just get me to the plate, boys" Howard
Jason "Anything Chase and Ryan can do I can do also" Werth
Raul Ibanez
Pedro Feliz (ok he isnt that great but he fields very well)
Carlos "Mr Red and White October" Ruiz

I suggest you look into these guys. Maybe you will come to understand there is more to baseball then just the guys on the mound. oh yeah, the guys on the mound also already have rings that have like 106 diamonds in it.

There is no way this game will be decided by the 2 guys starting.

Stop talking about Pedro!

agreed , aj can blow up today , the phillies could win and the yanks could go down 2-0 you are correct

And then all the focus will be on Cole Hamels. Sigh. Its never about the Yankees starter...they're just a given to go out and shut the other team down. The only focus is on the inferior Philly one, right. I get it.

That. That Lidge went 0-8 with 11 blown saves with a 7 ERA and the team won 93 games still...speaks to just how incredibly talented they are. Lidge gets a lifetime pass in Philly with his perfect 2008, and he has pitched well in postseason this year. But anyone who is surprised by anything this team does hasn't paid attention. They are by the way 4-2 in non-Lee pitched postseason games this year.

My point exactly. Too much focus on the starters and not enough on the guys hitting scoring the runs. How about some talk about Ryan Howard? The guy has been en fuego for the last 3 weeks. His swing is like Juniors...smooth as butter.

yes but pedro has only pitched out in la , does anyone not believe the cold does not affrect him , it affected him in his younger days , why won't it affect him at 38 ?

hamels started 2 games against the dodgers and 1 game against the rockies and stunk in all 3

the game that blanton started against la was blown by broxton in the 9th , he stinks too in big spots , does rivera have a better chance of winning that game with a lead in the 9th then broxton , what do you think

the 2 wins in cloroado (1 start with lee) had the rockies closer - street blow both games , does rivera blow those games???

my opinion is that the yanks have better starting ptiching than the phillies and while anything can happen in a 7 game series , i think pedro gets shelled tonight , i think hamels gets shelled in game 3 and i think blanton has no chance in a game 4 ....... burnett , petitie could get shelled , gaudin will get shelled , so we could be at 2-2 heading into game 5 or 3-1 yanks heading into game 5 , even if lee wins game 5 , we still have the edge in 6 +7

Antitrust32 10-29-2009 10:01 AM

^^^

Still winning games before they are even played

(hey guess what, if we get shelled like you say we will in game 2 and 3 who do you think will be pitching game 4??) :p

The Yankees are very good and certainly could win 4 straight. Winning game 1 is big. Every game one winner has won the series this postseason, and the last several World Series'. The series is far from over, but advantage Phils right now for sure. But honestly, do you really think Burnett has any less chance of getting shelled than Martinez or Hamels?? Pettite is a postseason stud...but it is unlikely he goes more than 6...7 is the absolute max for him. The way Hughes and Chamberlain are throwing, that would worry me considerably. That was the big problem last night....the bullpen...has been all postseason minus Mariano.

This just in … Cliff Lee is pretty good. lol

Was HIGHLY entertaining watching him make A-Roid look like the eight hitter on the local high school team.

And how 'bout that Utley … going yard twice with a two-strike count … and on their big lefty, no less.

What's that I hear in the distance…

The key game is tonight. The Yankees dont want to go to Philly down 0-2 knowing Lee is sitting there in game 4.

Crafty old man is well rested and coming off a very nice effort in L.A.

Pressure ON in NY

Looks like a must win for those "Bombers"

Is A-Roid starting to hear footsteps again, MaTH716??? lol

He can't carry the whole team by himself. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to a guy that delivers a brilliant performance. Cliff Lee was that guy last night. Tonight's a brand new ball game.

i personally don't think pedro can pitch in the cold anymore , it will be in the 50's come game time , if he goes the full 5 against this lineup i will be shocked

At some point you will figure out that pitchers face opposing teams lineups, not other pitchers.

Lee handled the yankees better than CC did the Phils. Who is better, was better, will be better doesnt matter.

And last night it wasnt Cliff Lee vs CC Sabbathia. What a joke, the 2 didnt face each other. It was played in an American League Stadium and the pitchers dont even bat. Even if it was played in Philadelphia and bothe pitchers batted 3-4 times, big deal. Its the other 25 batters that these guys are facing, not each other.

I hate the cliche of pitching matchups. Its really dumb when you think about it. The way people talked about CC vs Cliff Lee, you would think they were talking about 2 guys facing off in the finals of Wimbledon with nobody else factoring into the outcome.

how many times has he pitched when the game time temp was in the 50's ?

The guy pitched in Montreal, Boston and NY. I'm sure he has pitched in the cold a time or 2

You think the Yankees are here without Sabathia and Teixeira and Burnett?

You know the 1/2 billion they spent last off season?
