I realize that of course, but still, 5k for a GC filly? Nobody could muster up 6k?

This one RNA'd for $70K. I was so close!

Sightseek 09-15-2009 12:08 PM

It wasn't an RNA - the horse really went for 5K.

It's not a terrible looking horse either:

He must have serious issues?

Must have something seriously wrong.

Why was he in book two though?

I once saw an Unbridled - Life's Magic sell for 5k at a yearling sale as well, so I guess this shouldn't be too surprising.

He's in book one, just session 2 of the select portion of the sale.

Maybe he'll avenge the shame of selling for 5K and win the BC Turf in a few years.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

I noticed an EQ that RNA'd for 0 too a short time later.

There's an Idaho bred 2-year-old in Northern Cal named Our Minesweeper who is 3-for-3 with a pair of stakes wins.

The wins coming going 4fs on synthetic ... 6f on dirt ... and one mile on synthetic.

Since 2006, the current trainer is just 31 for 454 (6%) with a $1.23 ROI in route races.

Might be a nice cheapie to buy up and give to Dutrow or Wolfson ....

The sire is an unraced son of Giant's Causeway named Cause Ur Mine.

If the horse made Book 1, he must not be a total mess, conformation-wise. Of course, he could have bad radiographs or not have scoped well, but that's pretty pathetic.

The Storm Cat - Fleet Indian popped for 2 mil and 50k.

Several M D'O's have gone through the ring already pricing in the 200-300K range.

Linny 09-15-2009 02:08 PM

No Birdstones made the Select session. I'm sure there will be some in later books.

Well, yeah. Besides all the yearlings in the sale sired by IC, that was the best bred horse in the entire sale.

pedigree-wise I would take the Justenuffheart (sold for 350K).

I think the breeding industry is starting to catch up to me from 1997 when I told Barry Irwin IC would be worth tens of millions of dollars one day and that he should put an offer in on him while he was still a two year old.

He said something to the effect that he is a calbred with the head of a donkey.

It seems likely now that more breeders see how important a sire and likely broodmare sire he's going to be. Only one other stallion this decade moves his mares up as well as he does (Distorted Humor being the other) and I suspect that his mares will start becoming a lot more sought after.

What he's done at stud so far is pretty amazing, considering that about 80-90% of the mares sent to him his first few years were either unraced or unplaced. Some crazy percentage anyways, if not quite that high.

So? The 2 mil sales topper does indeed have the best pedigree!

Shut up.
