Beaumont.
That is one damn ugly city.
You seem like a decent person that lives in a damn ugly city.
But then again some people inhabit Cleveland.

It is that...If I could live in Cleveland tho..I would ;)

Mortimer 09-01-2008 03:49 PM

Well you should get it fixed.

And it's not the place...it's the person.

I mean the White House is a great place to live.......see what I'm saying?

pgardn 09-01-2008 04:21 PM

Wow Morton.

Come to the dark side.
Excellent job at bringing so many things to light.

Honky Tonk in Cleveland, Ohio
by Carl Sandburg

It's a jazz affair, drum crashes and cornet razzes.
The trombone pony neighs and the tuba jackass snorts.
The banjo tickles and titters too awful.
The chippies talk about the funnies in the papers.
The cartoonists weep in their beer.
Ship riveters talk with their feet
To the feet of floozies under the tables.
A quartet of white hopes mourn with interspersed snickers:
"I got the blues.
I got the blues.
I got the blues."
And . . . as we said earlier:
The cartoonists weep in their beer.

it's raining here pretty good, wasn't supposed to get here for another day.
just talked to a friend who lives in st. francisville la. he has two holes in his roof now, with five trees down in the backyard. damn squirrels!
hope everyone in the area down there comes thru all this ok. still baffled that some choose to stay. and in doing so, which i doubt they care, they endanger the lives of those who then have to rescue them.

cowgirlintexas 09-01-2008 07:37 PM

Well, Thank Goodness it weakend before hitting where it did..It really could have been so much worse. I am here in the Beaumont area (the ugly city :p ) and we have'nt even had any of the rains yet. The wind has picked up some, but not like we had feared a few days ago.
They did issue a mandatory evacuation here yesterday, but I chose to wait until all the traffic died down, then saw that I was'nt going to have to leave after all :)

He has everything under control.
Idiot.

REMAIN CALM, ALL IS WELL!!!!!!

Bummer Zig...Guess it cold have been worse tho...At least this time you still have a house intact..Where are you?

Danzig 09-03-2008 09:01 AM

i live in southeast arkansas. took me an hour and forty five minutes to get to work this morning, and i only live ten minutes away. the fourth time i doubled back and took another route, i was finally able to get thru. water over the roads, power lines down, trees down kept me from getting thru in two spots. and it really irritated me that in both cases i had already traversed high water( but NOT flowing, thank goodness-that's a deal breaker) and was almost to the highway and a tree was across the road. so back five miles in the opposite direction, then another five, and another tree across the road. crazy stuff! but power is on-for now.
