ahhhh, Red skelton finally wore us down completely in OT. We get the loss and ensure a 4 win season.

clyde 12-18-2011 07:37 PM

That's what I love about the Browns.

It doesn't matter regarding the players in the game....who,why,when,where,WTF??

It doesn't matter how well they start the game.

They will always play just good enough and just long enough to lose.

Bright side note:They have now scored 2 first quarter td's this season...2 games to go. What is the NFL record? They have to be close.

That's funny...2 first quarter TD's, that matches the 2 times they've reached 20 points in a game this year!! It looked like they may do it today, but as you said, they simply figure out how to lose game after game after game...they made it all the way to overtime to finally lose it today, so that was a first this year too.

clyde 12-18-2011 11:05 PM

YA!!

Anyways...you can't do this stuff on purpose.

No one's that good.

horseofcourse 12-21-2011 09:05 AM

Baltimore is about 20 points better at home than on the road. I'd say that spells Baltimore 44 Cleveland 10 this week. (I'll be in Ohio-ie for Christmas to visit relatives, I may have to listen to Donovan and Dieken for old times sake, are they still on radio??) Robert Griffin here we come!! Please. AFter one game Wallace runs a better offense and throws a better deep ball than Colt. Please, please draft a qb.

clyde 12-21-2011 10:11 AM

But you know, it's funny.... for all that ...it was the same game they have played almost all season long.

Automatic Otto couldn't help us.

Exactly...I don't think there is any difference between the starting qb and the backup qb for the most part. There is nothing entertaining at all about the Browns. Robert Griffin is an A+ athlete with an A+ arm who actually seems like a good guy too. You get him at all costs if at all possible. Jax still plays Indy again this year meaning the Browns can actually get up to the 4 spot in the draft. Indy takes Luck, and the Rams and Vikings allegedly have qb's already. He is their guy...it has to be done. He alone will make a massive difference simply for aesthetics. I would actually look forward to seeing what they do next year.

clyde 12-21-2011 10:50 AM

If it were me, and I know it's not..... would look for offensive lineman.Good ones.It would be nice to have 5 for a change instead of 2.

I like the potential of the defense...but it needs lb's, another corner and a free safety.

Aesthetics,yes...like the word.It works.I'm maybe one of the few who thinks this ''franchise qb" phrase is over hyped.Get another qb here, yes....but at the top I would look for those I mentioned as far as the draft goes.

But I hate the WC offense and don't care for Mr. Rogers and lately the same for Holmgrem..whatever his name might be.

Phooey.

Phooey.

They've been trading down for so long, I would look later for the other positions. They got Joe Thomas pretty high and he's been pretty good from all accounts. They took a corner (Haden very high in another draft) They traded down twice....got Alex Mack who is ok at center from what I've heard, traded down last year passing on Julio Jones who is really good at wideout and got Phil Taylor who is ok I guess, that Sheard they got in the 2nd round is a pretty good pass rusher. They do have Atlanta's first rounder this year from the trade down last year and that is when I go O lineman or the defensive help.

I just think it's time to do it. Cam Newton's gonna be real good no matter what you think of him. Matthew Stafford is real good now...Matt Ryan is real good now...even Alex Smith is pretty good right now...I rarely see very high drafted qb's completely fail. Tim Couch was never as bad as he was made out to be (that's another story for another day!), and Brady Quinn is long past. It's time to stop being afraid of high drafted qb's.

But what is a real highly rated qb going to do here!!?

There's nothing for him to do!

I don't follow NFL too much.I said what I did about Newton to piss off Dahla...which I enjoy.

Thomas has been ProBowl/AllPro just about every year. Mack made ProBowl first year.Haden is generally recognized as one of he best cb's in the AFC.The other picks are doing well on defense.

I do think just as many high profile qb's guys fail as don't......and many were'nt high picks who do make it big.

Not suggesting a trade down, but to me ...going with a qb at 1 and wide outs( especially) at 2-4 don't make any sense on this team.

clyde 12-21-2011 05:50 PM

Ah furgud....add: I really do believe one builds from the inside out in football.

clyde 12-23-2011 06:05 PM

I do enjoy the Indians signing of more has beens and never weres so they may become DFA's....with us...and in their very first season here.

The latest trade of a very hot 3-A closer for a right handed bat who can't hit.....well it just don't make no sense.

He is young,though...so there's plenty of time for him to get worse. That's probably what they were thinking.

clyde 12-24-2011 04:40 PM

Well....the Browns lost again.

I'll be darned.

horseofcourse 12-27-2011 07:21 AM

clyde, being in ohio-ie right now, I've seen the2012 Cavs!! It's awesome!! The Brazilian was the best player on the floor for them. The Israeli looked like a sack of garbage The old American (Jamison) looked like the worst player in NBA history. The Canadian rookie has great hops and looks to have possibilities. The backup point guard looked much much better than the number one overall draft pick. It was his first NBA game so I'll rush to no judgements on Kyrie, made a few competent passes at least. Was a brick layer shooting but not as good a mason as Jamison. We are safely in the lottery again, I can say that much which is good, we need more bodies.

Oh well, cleveland sports.

Hillis has become inspired again I guess. Another game of doing just enough to lose. Cleveland sports. WE did need to lose as our draft position continues to improve....could get all the way to number 4.

horseofcourse 12-27-2011 07:52 AM

I'm pretty sure the purpose of Cavs this year to remind us no matter what the Tribe turns out to be, they will in no way be this bad!!

clyde 12-27-2011 01:12 PM

These poetic words of tragedy you type...in their grief----beauty abounds.

Oh my God.

What am I saying?

Don't embarrass yourself with these false words of hope.

clyde 12-29-2011 05:49 PM

The Cavaliers got that first win of the new season out of the way last night.

Whew!

clyde 12-30-2011 10:54 AM

The Indians are opening up a new staff position;Director of Trauma and Triage.

He will then hire his own personnel....17, I believe...in order to provide daily care and emergency treatment for the Indian players recently released from ICU as well as the aged .

Also, MLB has given certain Indian players to use walkers from the dugout to the batters box.Certain pitchers may use the same to and from the mound.

Whew!

I saw part of it...but am now out of Ohio so no more Cavs for me!! There are a ton of really bad teams in the NBA. They even almost won their next game too. Cavs will win some games just by pure default. Kyrie may be ok I hope.

I think we're locked into number 4 draft pick with a loss to Steelers if Jags hold on against Indy.

horseofcourse 01-01-2012 05:34 PM

Browns doing yeoman's work not scoring touchdowns today...Pittsburgh not good enough to really lock up that 4th pick for us though.

horseofcourse 01-01-2012 05:36 PM

what exactly is a yeoman anyway?? Is he on the INdians roster??

clyde 01-01-2012 06:49 PM

Oh yes, Bob Yeoman.

Fisrt baseman ( that makes,I think 5 vying for that position)...bad glove...lifetime .236 hitter who once hit 14 homers in a season, but he strikes out a lot.

He's also slow.

And 47 years old.

Got him from the Cardinals organization for our 3 most promising minor leaguers.

clyde 01-01-2012 06:50 PM

Oh...he does have 2 broken legs, but should heal in time for the second half.

clyde 01-01-2012 06:51 PM

Another Xerox game for the Browns....thank God the season is over.

yeah, I am a genius...we played the Nets today, hence a default win!! Cavs will catch the Browns in wins by end of week I guess.

Browns were 1-1 in games they reached 20 points this year.

It could be America's team part 2...:D

I like that Canadian kid a lot. He jumps through the roof. 3 more blocked shots today. 16 for 26 three pointers.

clyde 01-01-2012 08:10 PM

!!

I llllllike it!!

:D

Cheering for a Canadian.....wow, but whatever works.

The Cavaliers!

AMERICA'S
TEAM!!!!

exactly...everybody plays except the Congo kid and the white American kid (though they are one of the few teams to have one of those!!)

clyde 01-01-2012 11:00 PM

The Cavaliers are the land of opportunity.

Truly an AT if there ever was one.

clyde 01-02-2012 12:02 PM

Oh it's a complicated system, but the results have been announced.

The Browns did not make the play offs.

All they needed was to turn 6 loses into 6 wins.

sssssssssssssssssssso close!

horseofcourse 01-02-2012 02:42 PM

Robert Griffin III

Only option. You can't win with a guy named Colt Seneca playing qb. What's with this team called the Jets?? I hear they had some problems too this year.

clyde 01-02-2012 03:01 PM

I don't know...just like every year---lots of holes to fill and not enough draft choices nor money to fill half of them.

Who are the Jets?

horseofcourse 01-02-2012 10:09 PM

I was just fondly remembering Kelly Ice Holcomb in the Matt Ice Flynn thread. I wonder if he can still play so well! This organization not only had a Tim Couch/Kelly Holcomb qb controversy (just typing it makes me ill!!) but also a Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn qb controversy. The Browns make the Cavaliers look like a world class organization.

Kelly Hocomb.

Brady Twit.

God that brings back nightmares....all so true.

I think now Wallace is squawking that he should start. At least he's proved it don't make no difference. So that qb controversy is like ----who cares?

I guess you go 16 for 41 in the season finale, you should be squawking! I'm not sure it should be about starting. I have zero clue who the team's clipboard holder is any more. Who was their 3rd string? He's got to be pretty awful and I'm sure he doesn't walk around saying, "yeah, I'm the Browns 3rd string qb."...maybe it's that Yeoman guy you were talking about...he's Cleveland's version of Bo Jackson.

horseofcourse 01-03-2012 08:33 AM

Charlotte Bobcats tonight. God help me, I'm getting cocky about AT 2! You actually do have about a 65-35 shot of playing a horrendous team every night. On a side note I see LeBronze James has attempted 1 three pointer in 6 games this year, perhaps the Miami organization has finally melded his mind and he's figured it out. If he ever really does, wow.

That's the thing..had it been a bad game for him...why, he would have remained mute.

3rd string guy?

I believe it's Daffy Duck...pretty sure.3rd string only because everyone has a hard time understanding his calls.
