I think the Browns really, really need a North Coast offense....and probably a qb.This point a quarter deal just ain't gonna duh it.
At least they are good at field goal blocks. I just wish it was the other teams field goals getting blocked. Even Cribbs is muffing. blech! |
I'll be darned..the Browns got another field goal block,unfortunately.... it again came when they were the kicking team.
Good thing they occupied the ball for 42.5 minutes. Bad thing they only scored 6 points. Better thing, Seattle only scored 3. Life is stranger than fiction. |
The Browns continue to play bad teams playing their backup quarterbacks. Got a win in that one. I think Colt McCoy's ceiling is being a really good NFL backup QB. Unfortunately he's starting for this NFL team. We've already won way too many games in the Suck for Luck contest. We still play Jax, St Louis, Cincy, and Arizona. Should win 2 of those 4 and our third straight 5-11 season is in the bag!! Our best offensive player yesterday was that guy we signed off the street from Houston's practice squad and was our backup rb.
Letting Mangini go in one year we went from having about the best special team's in football to the worst this year. Kickoff TD and fake field goal TD against Oakland last week and a punt return TD this week (phantom penalty called it back) and two blocked field goals this week. We are so bad, our best player since our return in 1999 is Phil Dawson...he's our kicker. Our best player last year was that Hodges...he's a punter. Shame he tore his achilles this year. WE're really, really bad. |
Fine work.
Seattle got out of the No Huddle early because of their No Quarterback. The Browns, of course, run the Why Huddle? offense because it doesn't matter. How can you possess the ball for almost 43 minutes and score only 2 field goals??I mean, it has to be intentional..this is not a normal thing. They don't like touchdowns because they create jealousy---I guess. How about our No Kick Coverage team? You're right--they have tacklephobia. And having 2 of 4 field goals tries blocked in one game has to be an inside job.You can't practice being that bad. What I really enjoy are all those 5 yard pass routes.Although I should point out they did try several bombs by sending a receiver about 12 yards down field, but couldn't connect. Right again about finding our best running back on the street.Maybe that's the answer.Scouts on the street.Hopefully some teams will cut some wide outs and maybe a QB or two.The Browns realize you build through other teams practice squads. yay |
My favorite win this year was not even playing a backup, it was against the 4th best retired QB option...Kerry Collins. I figure at the time he rated behind these other retirees...Carson Palmer, Brett Favre, and Kurt Warner. If only INdy had played one of the top 3 retirees we may have lost that one. ( we played one half against Cincy's backup and lost when we let him throw a TD while we were still in the huddle, we played the mentioned retiree, 3 quarters against Oakland's backup, one of the worst ever and lost on two special team TDs, and against Seattle's backup, one of the worst games any NFL QB has ever played, and I saw Spergon Wynn play!!)
The only two starting QBs we had to play against for a full game?? The great Chad Henne and 6 years past his prime Matt Hasselbeck. |
Really, the team's wheels are falling off.Hillis disgruntled,Cribbs disgruntled ,the defense plotting the death of the offense, the 49ers plotting the death of the defense ....and a HC who thinks everything is peachy keen.
Big mistake in the coaching switch. If you're going to do something right, at least don't do it wrong. I'm going back to playing the game with just me on late Sundays when the snow comes. |
at San Fran, then at Houston...the two toughies in our first 11. I think we lose by a combined 50 points or more these next two. We then get St Louis, Jax and Cincy. 4 of our last 5 are against Pittsbugh and Baltimore. Those are 4 30 point plus losses.

Oh stop looking through rose colored glasses.
|
With Hillis due back, look for the Browns to run the Robust Tee and run off tackle all day.
Take the 9. |
What am I saying!?
Our field goal kicking team's front line is known as the 7 Blocks of Weathered Shale. or The 7 Blocks of Granny. or The 7 Fucl<in' Blockheads Who Couldn't Block a Hat. |
I looked at the scoreboard and see the old Browns were channelling the new Browns and decided to play like them last night!
|
Maybe it's good they play the Ravens twice.
|
This can't be good news...the Browns practice this week, all tackling dummies were wearing red jerseys.

Oh my God.

I am so very happy Ohio State beat those Swissconsin cheese fucl<ers.
The thing is, much like almost every team that has their foe held in check all game long.....Ohio State drops 8 into coverage to ensure the qb has all day to throw.Touchdowns are almost a guarantee....that they take about 20 seconds to happen is almost as much of a guarantee. It happens so much that you wonder if coaching staffs are'unt congress and the sponsors are'unt big financial concerns. Show some guts and rush 4 to 5.......God, you still have 6 or 7 to cover 5 guys! |
I think the Browns have enough talent and ability to be the first team at any level to score negative points today.
|
crap...I forgot we still had the best player in new Browns history to kick a 50 plus yard field goal. It only took 23 or so colt mccoy 3 yard passes to set it up.

But I think it's thanks to two team playing not to lose right at the moment you should be playing to win...only.
|
I should have known the Browns would fucl< me and lose by just enough.
I hate football!! |
The coolest part of the game for me was that 49er defensive lineman who weighs 400 or something ran better routes and had better hands than any Browns wideout.
|
It don't take much.
If only they had competence when they restarted 11 years ago.All those high draft picks for the first two years...and they would have had sense enough to take Ditka up on the trade for the no.1 guy in that first year...would have had oodles of draft choices. But noooOOOOOOOOO............... |
as bad as he was, he really didn't have much to work with and Tim Couch is still the best Browns qb since the team came back. that's how pathetic this franchise has been that you can say that.
|
!
But ya didn't like Otto Quinn? What about Sonny Anderson? Johnny Ucoyus shows..........something--I think, maybe. Nah. |
Sizeless is no more....dumped him to take on the rather large contract of Derek Lowe.Derek was beaten to death by NL hitters last year, but hopes are he will fair better in the AL...known as the hitter's league.
Hey, it's Shapiro&Son. Don't look at me. |
In more Captain Obvious Cleveland Sporty News, tailback Hardesty, drafted no.1 by the Browns despite his history of injury....is out indefinitely with a calf tear.He missed his entire first year in 2010 due a serious knee boo-boo.
Let me ask you a question... Oh never mind. This is beyond insane. Oh I'll ask it. If you draft high a .....oh,say a defensive end who is white---but you just say forget about it and feel assured he will become a Black def. end...does that make sense? |
The Tribe has picked up the option of Exhausto Carmona.
I'll repeat. The Tribe has picked up the option of Exhausto Carmona. Let me ask you a question. No...not this time. Not gonna duh it. |
Anyhoo---Hillis' contract, I mean Hillis' boo boo is still not sa good. That leaves the team with one rb....and he is someone's practice squad loss.
So the Browns are holding tryouts at rb this week. If you can answer the question ''strings or no strings?" correctly-----you should go to the tryout. |
But the ever loyal Browns fanatics remain solidly behind the team:
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/inde...about_los.html |
Here's a positive....the Browns received one vote in the AP Top 25 for this week.
I think a close loss to the Mexicans will put them into the 25th or maybe even 24th spot next week. |
I think picking up Carmona's option was wise. Still cheap and still pitches well at times. He pitched well in late summer then didn't in September. They didn't pick up much of Lowe's contract...the Braves just wanted to dump him. That move's simply throwing darts at a wall. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sizeless with the team next year. No one is going to throw money at his injuries. They can get him much cheaper with mostly an incentives contract. (if only they had traded for Fister instead of Obaldo we'd be fine!!)
There's not much to say about the Browns. I really didn't want them to fire Mangini as I said it's just re-arranging the Titanic deck chairs, hence my argument that the Bengals should keep Marvin Lewis. I think I was right on that one. I prefer guys like Schottenheimer and Hargrove who may not win have won championships but are very consistent in approach and good results followed. 2 years was not enough for Mangini. I'm not a big fan of the new guy, but they need to give Shurmur at least 5 years minimum to attempt to do something. changing coaches every 2 or 3 years has not worked and never will work. I mentioned the Steelers in my "marvin lewis should not be fired" thread and that is what you do. 3 coaches in 42 years. AS much as I hate them, that is the benchmark. They are without question the model NFL franchise by a large margin. |

The only way I see that as wise is if they are looking for another team to sucker with Jimenot bait. The Indians pay 5 mill of Lowe's 15. That's serious money for the Tribe. The Browns are now below rebuild. They need a completely new engine...and I will not type the p word here. |

Think we will have to wait for the regular season to play out. It's pretty nuts. I picked the Browns with 9 because I thought the 49ers were the next hot team to go down.Didn't happen. True on the draft, but I can't see taking players because you think their history will miraculously turn...like Brainless Edwards. Little fit the mold.''Hey! He didn't play last year! We'll take him."He is starting because his experience in not playing fits in well with our offense. |

We can't cover a 400 pound nose tackle----do you know how embarrassing that is to our tertiary!? |
Perilous weeks ahead for Ohio States whipping post---the Vulvarenes. They are at they Iota Caulkpies place.Iota comes off a heartbreaking one point loss to that juggernaut know as the Minny-soh-tah Molten Loafers. Then the Vulvarenes travel to meet the Fighting Vagini....always tough in the muff.
One loss is in that mess. They may get by the overrated CornFucl<ers at The Outhouse. But then they get Ohio State for the final game.....they don't stand a chance. Looks like no better than 9-3 for them, which won't be good enough.Too bad.1-10 is coming up......and that will mean 8 in a row.Michigan fans--if I have offended you------------good. |
