It was about '86..maybe '85. Right in there. It was at the downtown Cleveland Convention Center...I just have no idea what the deal was about.I don't remember a lot other than being a real cutey-pie youngster and women trying to kiss me all the time. I recall seeing a Michael Jackson impersonator that was about as exciting as studying people watching paint dry.Yet I don't think the show was a about him. I recall seeing the real Batman car which looked like a gay Corvette.

But I don't think the show was about Gay Corvettes.I also recall seeing a live goat.No idea whatsoever on that one.

I was there with a bunch of other kids and big men. I think they were our Fathers.

Now to the meat of it. I do remember seeing a display of ..I think...Batman banners. So---I got one. It was clear on the opposite side from where the BatCar was. Near the BatCar was an elevated stand. On the stand...a table. Sitting behind the table were 2 big men. One was Adam West. Very recognizable almost 20 years later. There was a ramp leading from the floor to the stand ....past the stand and then away from it as one would walk by.Kids were lined up and stopping at the table.

I quickly used my whippet quick mind to process information. I asked my Father if that could possibly be an autograph line for Batman.

He rolled his eyes.

But apparently it was.

So I was right again.

Anyhoo....we get in line and finally reach West. He gives a half smile and signs my banner. Then he stops as he was handing it back....and looks suspiciously at it. He asks my Father..'Where did you get this?" I thought we were in huge trouble.A person of interest posed a pointed question about my very own merchandise. I froze in fear. My Father told him where by pointing. West then looked to the other big man sitting next to him and they looked....not real happy.

Of course I did not know what this was about right then, but did later learn this was all about Batman's greed and complete disregard for his fans.

West then turned back to the front of the table...not expecting to see us still there. He expected new heads.

Do you see the bourgeois rudeness this fool had displayed? What happened was exactly how I described it....but here's the best part.

I think my Father expected something..like "thanks" or maybe further questioning. Here's what he got:

West sits there with his hands on the table.....offers a cutesy grin with slightly raised eyebrows and takes his hands and raises them up so the palms face each other and at the same time his shoulder raise a bit ,his head tilts slightly to one side...as if to say..."Well? Now what?...stupid."

Try that. Sit down ...put your hands on the table...about a foot apart with the palms down.....and do what I said he did in one motion. You see? Got the idea?

My Father just starting walking away and so did I. ..but I did recognize that "sign to the plebes" from West.

So I turned and mouthed "COKE SOCARE" to him.

I hate his stinking guts and now you know why you should ,too.

Mortimer 10-31-2008 12:26 AM

Oh you'd hate anything east of Eden.

But...hang on SportyFans.

I have a real treat for you coming up here.Give me a few...but I think it will be helpful...really do.

You know me....I am here to help.Yup.

I smell a hallucination upstairs so I'm going to call my911.

=:>

Be back in a relative flash.

Mortimer 10-31-2008 12:43 AM

This may take longer than expected.

my911 has me on hold.

Mortimer 10-31-2008 01:17 AM

OK...just some minor putzing around needs to be done----and I'm there. I mean here.

The hallucination turned out to be only one of Ghost Hunters false returns.

Really disappointing.

Mortimer 10-31-2008 02:07 AM

OK..ready.

Good to see you all waited.

There's nobody here.

Oh well.

Might as well do it .

Here it is.

I don't know how many are familiar with this. Many of you may have heard it. Now.....when you have someone close to you that died,it's an indescribable feeling . Eventually, or sooner ,you probably ran across something that really fit...really stuck with you. That is the old saying.."Everyone is the same;only you are different."

I'm sure even in your sadness you jumped up and said.."That's perfect! Exactly how I feel." Sounds dumb,I know...but you don't realize the feeling until it's pointed out. I think it's one of the most jarring statements I've ever heard.

Not to spend a lot of time on that..I bring it up to set the stage.

So then something else happens. I'm not sure what. That's part of what makes the whole thing so enigmatic....but you become trapped in a feeling...a state of mind that you don't understand.

At all.

So what I did in my search for the WTF.....is somehow I went back in time and recalled this .."Everything is the same;only you are different." So I thought---WAIT A MINUTE!

And I had it.

Yes...your friend from The Noodle Works came up with it.Here it is:

Everything,everyone( including you) ......are different.

You have to think about that a bit.

Again..seems like it should be obvious, but it's not because of the state you are in...that you don't know what it is.

But that describes it perfectly.

Nothing is the same...no thing---no body....not even you.

It's like you entered another dimension that has no identifying marks to let you know you have. And so...you don't know it.But that is exactly what it's like.

Fucl<.

I completely lost my train of thought.

God.

Hmmmm...I really don't know my point...honest.

Well......I will close by saying I really think I should leave and do think I will.If I don't I would appreciate it if none of you made fun of me.

But if I do leave...then you can make fun of me.

Well, I'm not sad about Obama.. cause we knew he was going to win. I think he's def. a step up from Bush and we are screwed no matter what... I hope he does a great job.

But I'm sad about the Prop's passing in California, Arizona, and Florida to continue discrimination against gays. It just aint right buddy!

It does make me proud as an American to see a black man in office... granted I grew up in a different time period and have always viewed people as equal.. this is a big step for our country. (Eventhough I may wish it was a black man who was more conservative ;) ).

I does NOT make me proud to be an American when we still cant get over other kinds of discrimination. The fact that there is even a vote about not making all Americans equal bothers me too.

I think if Christians want to preach their good book, than they should live by it also, which includes not judging others. Their own bible says only God can judge.

So thats why I'm sad Morty.

Oh my God.

I'm kidding..I do understand.

Always remember this about those who bang their drum slowly about being good Christians.

Those are the ones most likely to be as.sholes.
