pweizer 02-05-2007 12:20 PM

This is very exciting news. Certainly the closest to ownership I will ever get. Thanks, Steve and Chuck, for putting this together. It will be a fun ride.

Steve --

Will we get a list of members/owners? Just to make sure you got my check -- I'm a bit on the paranoid side.

Kasept 02-05-2007 01:49 PM

Will try to get the Partner List up tonight if possible...

zippyneedsawin 02-05-2007 01:51 PM

i am so thrilled to see we are ready to go with this. truly a dream come true--sounds smarmy, but it's true.

i am THRILLED!

steve, chuck, thanks so much. you guys have gone way out on a limb for this, i appreciate it very much--i'm sure everyone involved does.

Scav 02-05-2007 07:37 PM

Good luck to all that are involved. Hopefully you will allow me to live vicariously(I need Bykster's dictionary, dude uses crazy words sometimes) through you all since I would rather spread that $500 on multi 7/5's at Cal-Expo.... :) :)

Not much anymore because I have MY FIRST CAR PAYMENT....severly hurting my action....

onebadbeast 02-06-2007 12:44 AM

capbettr 02-07-2007 10:08 AM

Hi Steve,

Can you provide us with a general overview of where the stable stands at this point in time, please? How much cash do you have?

Is there going to be a vehicle where we can get timely updates on what's going on, other than through this list? Are you going to send emails, have a web page with info updates, etc?

Thanks - can't wait to get started!!!!!

Kasept 02-07-2007 10:22 AM

Tech,

Was actually just putting the email addresses together for the Partnership Mailing List when I looked at this!

We've got $18,500 in the bank and probably another $7,000-$9,000 coming in over the next two weeks... Chuck has spotted a 3yo filly that's been running at Turfway (5/1-0-0) and likely needs lawn that might be available for between $12,500-$15,000. And there's a 4yo at Gulfstream with a preference for grass that's been running for $35,000 and may be available for $25,000 privately that has come up... Just two possibilities... There's a chance we could end up with two horses that are both in the $10,000-$12,500 range...

We could be up and running by as soon as the end of February.. certainly by early March... We'll use a section of this website for news and photos, etc., and I'll be communicating to everyone via email too...

I've gotten a bunch of email and PM's from everyone, and now that it's really happening, people seem tremendously excited... Now we just have to get a little lucky with a solid, sound animal or two!

Thanks to everyone who's been so receptive and responsive to this crazy idea!

Steve

Sightseek 02-07-2007 10:28 AM

Yipeee! This is so exciting!!!

Linny 02-07-2007 10:42 AM

I hope to get a check out this week. I'm in.

jman5581 02-07-2007 11:54 AM

Okay, this is indeed exciting and fun. Hearing you guys talk about it a bit yesterday on ATRAB added to it. I'm sending in another share purchase to help ensure we can do what we need to <g>

I'm just outside Lexington, and I am seeing a good excuse to visit Saratoga for the first time ... Looking forward to meeting the rest of you crazy people when the horse runs.

Steve, post those silks when you have them! :-) Will have to check with accountant on if fly-in/fly-out road trip and purchase of Dee Tee color-coordinated race day outfits (okay, a hat, but I'm sure it will be quite a nice hat) can possibly be written off .... <vbg>

Danzig 02-07-2007 02:01 PM

i also am interested in the silks--my daughter keeps asking about stuff like that.
i'm also wondering if there will be hats or shirts available. i'm willing to send in $ to pre-order. i'd love a shirt, as i don't wear hats much. steve, i know you have SO MUCH free time to take care of such mundane details!

Working on silks approval.. Never that easy getting exactly what you want, but the colors are "DT Blue" and Cream with Green accents or regalia.. As soon as there is an OK on silks design we'll get some merchandise to reflect it..

That's awesome, Steve! I can't afford to be a part of the partnership, but I'll definitely sport the hat and shirt. Love the colors, too.

SWEET! i figure silks might be as difficult to get approval as naming a horse...

i'll have to find someone to make me a big ass coffee cup with the silk pattern on it for work!

scrimshaw 02-08-2007 08:59 AM

Please take this reply as my interest in joining the partnership. I have waited for an opportunity like this that would allow me to participate.

Confirmed quitter goes off as the favorite, has EVERYTHING possible go in her favor, and still can't get it done.

How does Karakorum continually purchase such bad horses? And does Jeff Odintz know ANYTHING about how to train a racehorse??

The Bid 02-11-2007 01:27 PM

Boy, you dont see many quit like that pig did

It's called the Karakorum Kurse. They can't win.

MisterB 02-12-2007 09:53 AM

I like Chuck, but not when he leaves Kentucky. Also, Partnerships may be fun, but they end up as money suckers. Just another way to pay the bills. Why do you think Most trainers do not own horses? Money suckers. Owning horses is not an investment, it's a hobby and love for the wealthy.

that's why partnerships are good, if you find the right one. that way, those of us who aren't wealthy can join in the hobby. thing is, none of my other hobbies are money makers either....

Owning 1/20th of a horse is fun? Maybe 150-200 a month, plus the buy in is in your budget for this Fun.
Linda Rice has a barn full of these types, but I only play her horses on the turf, at 5-1/2 furlongs;)

You just joined this place and you are knocking this partnership? To what end?

If you aren't interested then don't join.
