"The point is it's much easier to ridicule those who bet Bernardini to even money and singled him after he loses" and "Ah yes, another postrace genius."

I was trying to point out to you that much was said pre-race, and that you might want to consider that before jumping to more conclusions.

"Over and over"? Um, okay. I was talking specifically to Zeig about specifically her comment. There was no need for you to butt in with your link that proved nothing. Show me where I said "There was no one who liked Invasor before the race." My statement was "The point is it's much easier to ridicule those who bet Bernardini to even money and singled him after he loses" and that holds validity no matter what link you pull out, so back up.

And all of this "Bernardini fans can dish it but not take it" bull****.. Give me a break. You want to say Invasor's a better horse? Fine with me. I personally am not going to say that based on one meeting and a one length difference, but if you want to say it, that's not outlandish. You want to say Bernardini was overrated? Cool. Of course he was.. Like dalakhani said, he would've had to win by 10+ NOT to be considered overrated (and for the record, it was mainly the media crowd that was overrating him in order to get people to watch). But to say he lost because of a "lack of heart" or to write him off as a total piece of **** is where I step in. All of that is silly.

By the way, you have no right to ever say a discouraging word about Bernardini if you ever hyped up Lava Man. None. The way things sound around here, you'd swear Bernardini ran last and Lava Man skipped the race. Lava Man was just as hyped earlier in the year as Bernardini was recently, and yet the people who immediately sang the praises of Lava Man's supposed brilliance get no flak whatsoever. It's a ridiculous double standard and I'm tired of it.

Maybe your statement was valid but shouldn't it have been directed to someone that had made post race judgements? Zeig didn't, so who was it directed towards?

In my opinion your continued hot comments make you the poster-child for the "Bernardini fans can dish it but not take it" accusations. That was not an accusation I brought up but you addressed it to me so I responded.

I've never hyped Lava Man for the Classic. Many people liked him but to me he was a throwout and yes I posted that pre-race.

Maybe you're missing the point. I don't see anyone writing off Bernardini as total piece of ****. In my mind this exercise has been mainly about elevating
Invasor to the status he belongs as well as being a little more realistic about how good Bernardini was.

Frankly you seem to be still steaming about what happened. In my opinion some of your comments on this thread seem rather bellicose for a "super moderator".

I wish I would have been here this summer -- as we would likely have been best buddies on that bandwagon. That's been my key horse since he came to America -- from keying him in the Special/Preakness double to singling him on top of the trifecta on Saturday -- he's taken great care of me and in every way he looked to be at least Bernardini's equal at six times the price.

What a gift.

Okay. So because I'm a moderator, I'm not allowed to stand up for a horse getting a ridiculous amount of bashing, most of it being nothing more than out and out hatred?

Listen dude. You make ridiculous statements and I'm going to respond accordingly. I'm not going to initiate any trouble on here, but please don't expect that, just because I'm a moderator, I'm going to let anyone say whatever they want without any response. If you're respectful, I'll treat you with respect, but if you're obnoxious and boisterous and inflammatory, I'm taking off the gloves too, moderator or no moderator.

You had a problem with what I said? Awesome. You're one of the few, so I'm not too worried about how you feel.

"Frankly," you seem to be way too gassed for picking Invasor and getting respect from Oracle, but that's just my opinion.

Pointg5 11-07-2006 02:48 PM

What about when you said that you couldn't wait to see Bernardini win, so we would cry like salty little girls...Was that respectful?

He lost, no disgrace, like Kasept said they run the race 10X, it probably comes out 5 for each. Some on here wanted to see proof that he was great and got ripped for it, go look at the Bernardini is thread it's full of people boasting on Bernardini and others question doubting his greatness. There were alot of way out of whack observations on Dini and some questioned it, no big deal. The doubter were right, it happens, could have easily gone the other way and you would have been the lead cheerleader for the Bernardini haters are idiots group..

I haven't noticed a hatred for Bernardini.

Go ahead and read Oracle's posts earlier about him screaming "The paper tiger is done" at the top of his lungs, then saying Ghostzapper would've urinated on him and Barbaro would've bitch-slapped him, and tell me there isn't any hatred for the horse.

That isn't hatred. Seems to me like he was overemphasizing an opinion to get a rise out of the Bern fans. Looks like it worked.

A total copout. This can be claimed as a reason for saying anything hateful on this board or in general.. "I was just trying to get a rise out of you, and I did, aren't I smart?"

ha ha, I wasn't singling anyone out, I just think this is more of a result of months of bickering than hatred for the horse, heck Thor's Echo has been a one horse wrecking crew for my wallet, first he gets nosed out by Bushwacker for third Sunshine Millions day costs me a very nice tri, and of course I didn't have him in the Pick 3....but come on...how can you hate a horse?

Of course you're allowed to stand up for a horse that is getting bashed, even as a moderator. Only problem here is that there was no bashing of Bernardini. I fail to see why you take it that way despite the numerous comments from many people to the contrary.

What ridiculus, obnoxious, boisterous, or inflammatory comment did I make that made you take the gloves off? I don't remember anything like that.
On the other hand, stating that people should be shot that hold a particular opinion seems a bit off the reservation if you ask me.

I don't have a "problem" with what you said. Frankly to me this is all a silly diversion to take my mind off other things. Whatever I said was done in a spirit of honestly debating the merits of the horses. That you're not worried about how I feel is a great relief.

I'll admit that I did get a lot of satisfaction from being right about Invasor. This is what we strive for right? to be correct about the biggest race of the year? This had been building for a long time and to finally see it play out exactly the way you thought, well yeah maybe I am too gassed. That will quickly dissipate however and I'll be brought back down to earth. The game always does that. Hey, us Invasor people have had only a few days now of gloating. How long did we listen to the Bernardini brigades? All summer.

finally, whatever I have said has nothing whatsoever to do with getting respect from Oracle or anyone else for that matter. That was not my objective.

It only took you a moment, but I think that Perfect "Drift" is still running! LOL :D

I can't say a damn word about anyone who supported Bernardini to win the BCC... I've always thought he was a nice 3 year old, but I was never ready to annoint him. He still beat the tar out of my BCC pick to win, though. :o

I assumed your Breeders cup pick was just for sentimental reasons and not because you actually gave him a good chance to win. Please don't tell me I'm wrong!:)

Well... I thought for SURE he'd hit the board, but it was more a blinded by love deal for me, yes. :o

I had Perfect Drift, Invasor, Bernardini, David Junior and Giacomo boxed for my tri, so you can imagine my dismay when Giacomo didn't get up for the show spot! That's what I get for ignoring Premium Tap. On to next year...
