They were going to pay Robert $16 million, so if I am Kirk's reps that is a number to begin at. If they want to keep him, but want to see him prove himself further then the franchise tag makes sense. I doubt very much if Kirk would mind a raise to say $20 million. Suitors will come calling, look at the way Hoyer played the other day Houston should certainly try to upgrade and other teams need a QB. I like Kirk, I wanna see him get paid but from a business standpoint it makes sense to tag him. Snyder has and taken a ton of flack ( much of it deserved), I think he's backed off and let the newer GM Mcglewin pick the talent and for that I give Snyder credit. I am very encouraged about the future of the team. Though we certainly do have plenty of holes to still fill.

Let me ask you a question. What are you feelings about former Redskins coach Joe Gibbs? I assume you have been a Redskins fan for a number of years as I have?

They're worth what teams are willing to pay. No doubt Kirk Cousins is going to get a stupid amount of money for 8 good games, but it reflects the dearth of quality quarterback prospects out there.

IMO, Cousins can make all the throws, but he has done two things so dumb that I would never hand the keys of my franchise to him: the knee against PHI at the end of the 1st half and the sack he took on 4th down late yesterday. Those two plays show such a fundamental lack of football IQ that I could never be confident he could take my team all the way.

Yep, I WAS a redskin fan once. Thought Joe Gibbs was a good coach the first time around....bit Dan is such a curse, even Joe couldn't overcome it when he gave it a second go.
I told my husband a few years ago that I wasn't into self flagellation and I was throwing in the towel on the team until Dan left. No need to willingly accept such punishment.

I respect and admire Joe Gibbs, he was a great coach back in his day. 2nd time around the game had passed him by, it has changed a lot. The reason I bring him up, is I have always felt he was as honest as the day is long, and he has never said a bad thing about Dan. He says he and Dan had a great relationship, and nobody wants to win more than Dan. The guy may not be as bad as he is portrayed. He has certainly made some moves that I have not liked, but I hope he is trying to stay more in the background now and leave the football decisions to football guys. I think they might finally be on the right track. So you are not a fan of the team anymore? That is to bad. I am not one to give up my fan loyalty because they haven't been successful in awhile, or because I am not currently living in the area. I remain a loyal fan through the good and the bad times. That's just me.

I just dont see the point in pulling for them anymore. I dont enjoy football as much as i used to, not even close. I think the play this year overall for the league has been godawful. But a few years ago i looked at hubby and asked why am i doing this, in regards to the team. Snyder reminds me of jerry jones, and i see no reason to punish myself worrying about the team. I just dont really care anymore. About them or anyone else in the nfl. Heck, i still remember sticking by them when awful jack pardee was there and we went 4 and 12.
as for hockey tho...the constant action is what i love. 60 minutes, unlike about 12 in the nfl.

Hopefully Peyton retires after this season. Injuries have taken their toll and he has completely lost his velocity and accuracy. He is getting it done on guts and guile. Strong D and a banged up Steelers team helped too.
