Kind of anticipated Baffert going back on his early statement that Drill would be kept sprinting. He did the same with The Factor last year.

In addition, Drill has a lot of graded earnings and if he can hit the board at Keeneland he can at the very least be used like Danthebluegrassman to exclude another horse out.

Isn't Gemologist and El Padrino on the borderline when it comes to earnings?

He should be 1,000 to 1 at 9f on polytrack.

El Padrino is 11th with $200,000, so he'd basically just need to finish 2nd in the Fla Derby, but 3rd would be more than enough.

Gemologist is 25th with just over 103k. He needs to run at least 2nd in the Wood to get a spot.

Thanks. The Risen Star has a bigger purse than I thought.

He didn't have any before the Sunland Derby, so he has...$180 or so, now?
He wasn't nominated to the Triple Crown, but I assume they nominated him before the Saturday midnight deadline for $6K. I'm not sure when they announce the late nominees.

And I think $180k will probably be enough to make it this year, but you never know.

Kasept 03-26-2012 02:04 PM

20 late nominations to the Triple Crown, which brings the total number of Triple Crown nominations this year to 418. The 20 late nominees are the most at that stage since 1993, when 25 were late nominees.

i wonder if they are going to move forward with castaway after the sunland showing.

tjfla 03-26-2012 02:18 PM

Be interesting to see what they do with Trinniberg now since he is nominated, they mentioned the Bayshore/Jerome/Illinois Derby for him but he could be in the Derby with a decent showing in any of them

As for Isn't He Clever,Dominguez sounded like he is gonna take him to CD and if he gets in he will run

I just can't figure why Romans didn't run News Pending in the Spiral.
Especially, after a glance at the earnings list.

5 Wrote (IRE) Aidan O'Brien $556,630
Considering the fair showing by Master Of Hounds in last year's Kentucky Derby following a strong effort in the UAE Derby, I would anticipate that Wrote would be under serious consideration for this year's race with a similar effort.

Though his pedigree is all turf up close, he is inbred to the great Claiborne broodmare Special, who counts horses like Sadler's Wells, Nureyev, Archipenko, Corinthian, Numerous, Cease, and Blame among her descendants.

Also in the Dubai race is Daddy Long Legs, one of only 3 horses of 13 from the BC Juvenile (the other are stablemate Crusade and Fort Loudon) who have not at least placed in a significant prep race for the Kentucky Derby.

Well isn't that Prospective's rider? So doubtful he would leave even if he gave Clever a great ride

The reason Contreras wouldn't get off Prospective is because of who trains him.

I care less about where this sensation is going to run and more about whether he's named for the famed former Indianapolis Colts back-up Curtis Paynter.

Been reported Currency Swap,Trinniberg,Our Entourage to Illinois- I like the Trinniberg to Illinois Derby idea tho, does 2 things #1 Will see if he can get the distance? #2 Even if he finishes 3rd or 4th he will get enough cash to put him over 200,000

Holy Candy to either Blue Grass or SA Derby

I love when the owners get involved where to ship there horse. Bodemeister runs in the SA Derby and prolly an easy 1,2 or 3-Zayat wants to ship him to NY to run vs Alpha,Gemologist and ???

Trinniberg has no chance in the Derby no matter what his earnings. They should keep him sprinting.

Ya I agree-should be going in the Bayshore but least this way we know if he can get the distance or not. If he ran in it he would have probably have the earnings running 1m or less

Isn't He Clever apparently heading to Arky Derby.

Arkansas Derby coming up H-U-G-E!

First off let me apologize to Pat Byrne,I pissed on alot of his decisions this year(as to graded earnings) however there is no way that TCI can run that way in the Derby if he expects to do anything

Steve what is the chances that Reveron goes onto the Derby? I read a story that the reason why he passed on the TB Derby and ran in the FL Derby was because he can't travel well at all. They ran him in the Davis and ran a 3rd however he was goning crazy the whole time, how is he gonna be able to deal with all that stuff in KY??
