:D Awesome.
2000 Guineas winner and Derby favourite Rock 'n' Pop did an exhibition gallop between races that day as well. I thought he looked really good. He's resuming in the Karaka Mile on Jan 29. |
The Railway was a lovely win but I hope the old man puts him in his place.
There's a difference between beating my good (and not lightning fast :D )boy Upsala and that very nice field (and it was!) and the King, right? http://www.racingandsports.com.au/ra...r_Atomic_Force If this were on his turf maybe but not at home. Mufhasa rules. :) |
Muf all the way. :) He'll have to carry a big weight, but I think he can do it.
No stakes racing this weekend! What an anticlimax. But Telegraph week is just around the corner. *** News about He's Remarkable and the appeal - http://www.racingandsports.com.au/ra..._On_January_24 Good luck, guys. |
Good luck indeed. That was ridiculous.
|
Hoofit is running in the Ft. Lauderdale this weekend at Gulfstream. :)

Those are really nice fields and not to sound too stupid but where is the Matron Cup?
Good luck to Sir Slick (... and Six O'Clock News, Bruce Almighty, Banchee and November Rain of course). Who is the favorite in each and how has Bruce done lately? It would be fantastic to see Banchee win one again. As far as the other? As long as Sir Slick comes home safe I'm good. I hope you're going! |
I'll be at Ellerslie, as always. :)
The Marton Cup's at Awapuni, which is down south in Palmerston North. They have one of the main 2yo races, the G1 Sires' Produce Stakes, there in April. Bruce has had quite a bad season, but he ran his best race in a long time at his last start - 2nd. Hopefully he can go well again here. :) Crocodile Canyon and Exquisite Choice are the favourites there at 5-1. Sir Slick is 13-1 and Bruce is 20-1. Banchee's the favourite in the other race. But it's only 1100m, which I'm worried might be a bit short for her. Gaston might be hard to beat. |
Thanks and have a great time.
Oh forgot to mention Hoofit is at 15/1 on the morning line. It's a nice field... hope he does really well! |
Do you have any idea how many times I've refeshed results?! :D
|
Crocodile Canyon won the Marton Cup. Bit of a surprise, but he was impressive.
Gaston won the sprint race at Ellerslie. It was a bit too short for Banchee, but she did well for 3rd. She'll step up to a mile next and do much better. A week to go till the Telegraph! |
Thanks, ed! I haven't watched replays yet... hope Sir Slick did okay.
Who is up for the Telegraph? |
Sir Slick was 9th; Bruce Almighty 11th.

Awful weight, lousy barrier for Mufhasa
By Michael Guerin 5:30 AM Thursday Jan 19, 2012 Trainer Stephen McKee will wait until this morning before deciding whether Mufhasa attempts a modern-day weight carrying record in Saturday's $300,000 Telegraph at Trentham. Mufhasa has been allocated a staggering 61kg  for the group one sprint and to make matters worse he has drawn barrier 16. * * * I can't find the barrier draw but I DID look up how many pounds 61 kg is. What should they do, ed? http://www.nzherald.co.nz/racing/new...ectid=10779614 |
He's out.
http://www.theinformant.co.nz/racing...asa-scratching I think they did the right thing for the horse. That was a huge weight - the highest in this race in more than 20 years. There'll be other races for him. :) The G1 Waikato Sprint next month (which he also won in 2009 and 2011) is weight-for-age, so he won't have such a huge disadvantage in weight. I do like Durham Town now. Good luck to all my usual favorites haha or which The Hombre is the only one I can see having a shot as well. (Unless Vonusti feels like it which I guess isn't likely). How are the odds on Ego? Good luck with Durham Town! |
Ego's 80-1. He had an injury layoff last season and hasn't shown much in his first few starts back this summer. Hope he turns it around soon.

Wow, AMAZING win by the undefeated 2yo filly in the Wakefield. Definitely the highlight of the day so far.
|
Whoa, Villifye only fourth in the Anniversary Handicap as 35-1 longshot Fairway Wish prevails. Undisclosed second, Flash Hapi third.
Great 3yo race coming up now. Ocean Park, who was so good when second in the Guineas at Ellerslie on Boxing Day, is the favourite. Burgundy and Nashville are the other strong contenders. All three are going for the Derby in March. |
Ocean Park by five!
|
Nice!
I just found the results for the race Six O'Clock News was in... yea! How long till the Telegraph? God I wish it were on here. Can't wait for replays! |
Yeah it was a great win by the old boy! He's so good on his day.
The Telegraph is at 5:46pm NZT, so 55 minutes away. |
Very happy!
Okay let us know who wins and I shall jump on and off and cross my fingers... :) Good luck! |
GUISEPPINA!
Amazing win. She flew. Atomic Force 2nd. El Chico 3rd. Vonusti and The Hombre were close. Upsala scratched because of his wide barrier draw. Durham Town fell. Tried to get through along the rail and got pushed into it. Horse and jockey both fine. :) But it was pretty scary. |
Oh wow glad he's okay.
I still haven't watched the replay but just looked at results... Hooray for the 8th, 9th and 12th place finishers. :D Cheers to Ms Guiseppina. :) |

Warhorse looked really good in the one race of his I saw...
In the MIle I only know one name. Embarrassing! Whatever happened to ***** O'Reilly? |
She ran in a G3 for 3yo fillies at Trentham just now, actually! But she didn't really feature.
Quintessential won it impressively, beating Capital Diamond and Artistic. |
Oh wow too funny!
I don't know what made me think of her but it is pretty funny how we can't post her name. Good luck, ed! When you have a sec let us know who the favorite is for the Thorndon Mile. :) I'm sure all my picks are at very long odds but not like I can play them! I would love to see Banchee win this and I am quite sure you would too.(I won't list the other 8 I'm cheering for). :D |
It is funny. And a new 2yo filly who looks something special is the same - ***** Willow!

Say No More?! Wow.
Postman's Daughter second, then Jetset Lad and Smoulder. Say No More has come from nowhere. She's suddenly become a really good horse. Banchee tired herself out before the race even started - jumping around and throwing her head all over the place. And then she had a rough trip. She just had nothing left in the stretch. |
