Upon further review of the 2009 BCC, it appears that the field truly sucked ass.

Upon further, further review, all fields suck in 2009 or as conveniently argued.

Gulch also finished second in both the Whitney and Woodward at 1 1/8. In the Whitney he was 3/4 of a length behind the mighty Java Gold and 2 1/4 ahead of Broad Brush.
Yeah, he couldn't get 1 1/8. |
Java Gold was no Zenyatta though, and Broad Brush was no St. Trinians.

Notice how I didn't bring up the "other" horse in my explanation? It really isn't that difficult. |

You were quickly corrected, then laughed it off and a reference to Lady's Secret because "Personal Ensign's name is linked to Zenyatta's". When someone asked why you would bring this comparison up at all, you replied "it was a ploy to draw you into a discussion". Well, you got it. And apparently you had no answer, taking the ol' "pass" maneuver on your backwards moving unicycle. Your above post is more of the same. However nothing beats your butt hurt reply to SO about Personal Ensign and blasphemy. Maybe you can get one of those soft donut thingies so you can sit back on your unicycle and pedal outta this non-existent discussion once and for all. |

I have no idea if Sky Beauty could have beat Hollywood Wildcat or One Dreamer if the race was in NY but going into the gate anyone around that horse knew she had little chance after the ship. |

In 94 she was just abysmal at Churchill.. Hollywood Wildcat wasn't too much better that day either, as the favorite.. |

I was basically lamenting the way horses are campaigned nowadays. |

ok enough about the sport, lets commence back to the 5357 post on Zenyatta this month |

I think it's pretty lofty company. |

Try to follow Smooth Operator's lead, at least he comes back with some rebuttal other than "she's not retired yet". |

He actually dealt Ogygian his first defeat and beat Gulch in the Tom Fool. He was also 5th behind Lady's Secret when she won the Whitney. He rocked. |

I remember that maiden we bet as well. Wasn't it the last race at Belmont a few years ago? |

Now you try to re-attach your retirement cop-out to only part of my post, the "ennui" comment. Ok. I'll bite. I'm not sure how you can get around the monotony of Zenyatta's campaign. It's not like one big race at the end erases the meek spotting the rest of the year. To be fair, I based my comment on the belief that the Clement Hirsch will be next. Maybe we'll see a bumrush at the end instead with the Woodward, Jockey Club Gold Cup, and BC Classic. Or the Hollywood Gold Cup, Pacific Classic, BC Classic. I won't hold my breath. |

Clearly some impressive mares on Crist's list but there's always a tendency to over-glorify some of the achievements of past runners. |

If this Goldilocks is so great, why didn't they stick her in the BCC (or the BCT) last year? Not surprisingly, both of those contests have significantly higher purses than the BCM. |
