Really?..Why don't you post some of what you read. Because what I heard him say sure sounded like what Riot and others have been posting about

I do feel for the children. They aren't the ones looting.

How would you react to a situation where you had no food ,no water, no work and children that were dying due to starvation and dehydration? Would you stand by and watch them die or do things that you never would consider doing? It is easy to pass judgement sitting where we are but it is desperation down there like none have ever seen.

Danzig 01-20-2010 08:07 AM

i saw yesterday they are saying 200k dead...and now a 6.1 earthquake has hit. 1.5 million people are homeless. they had nothing, and now they have even less.

Why should our taxpaying money go to helping others out when we have American citizens who cant afford to buy food and clothing and are living on the streets. America needs to take care of Americans first. I also wish this countries leaders would tell the UN where to go. The UN is one of the biggest if not the biggest waste of an organization there is. All they do is cry USA please help us out. Who is supplying most of the peace keeping troops? What about giving the most aid? Someone tell me has the UN done anything?

I knew it. You're into Voodoo, thus your empathy for Haitians. Tell you what...I'll send 20 chickens to the Red Cross.

LOL Karma is the only religion i've bought into.

Its hard not to have empathy for a country where its people are trapped under their own houses though.

I have already survived karma. Did you already forget about Hurricane Ike like mostly everyone else has. I know it wasnt quite the magnitude as Katrina was, sure was alot of devastaion though. Didnt need any of our worthless governments help to move on. Just ask the people who lost lives and houses due to Ike. Where is the government out helping them. There are still houses that have tarps on them. Seems like this country would rather help out another country before helping thier own out.

Right now, this country is desperately trying to "help it's own" in several ways. Trouble is, every time such an attempt is made, there are always some people screaming that we, "helping our own" is an expensive socialist agenda.

You can't have it both ways.

This Hope for Haiti Telethon is like a sputtering car. Good singing performances followed by having to listen to stars small talk with fans on the phone(brutal.) That small talk crap has to be the idea of a woman. That I'm sure of. They tend to love that stuff, and men are trying to survive it...

Moron- "4 and 7"..

Julia Roberts - "What a great age."

It makes you wish the Earthquake would of hit all of the telethon locations instead of Haiti.

I will give you that one. Name me something else they have done worth a crap. Its a shame the USA is the keeper of the world especially when hardly anyone else helps out when the USA is in need. Where were all these other countries when Katrina and Ike hit? This country needs to start care of our own instead of giving all these other countries handouts.

Wow - I had no idea: read this about the foreign aid offered by many, many countries after Katrina. It's huge!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interna...ricane_Katrina

Unfortunately, there is this note, after the lists of countries, and what they offered, too:

Quote:

Actual funds used

An article in the April 29, 2007 Washington Post claimed that of the $854 million offered by foreign countries, whom the article dubs "allies," to the US Government, only $40 million of the funds had been spent "for disaster victims or reconstruction" as of the date of publication (less than 5%).[49]

Additionally, a large portion of the $854 million in aid offered went uncollected, including over $400 million in oil (almost 50%).[49]

Interesting reading. Where is Haiti at on the lis?. Another noticable country missing from the list is Somalia. Thats right they offered no help. Yet thier getting all this help. At least now there are less AIDS infested people to worry about and less Haitians trying to enter this country illegally. I know Haitians arent the only one's trying to enter this country illegally. Looking at the list some countries promised relief in money but did they actually keep thier word about. As far Chavez I dont trust him one bit.

DerbyCat 02-01-2010 12:05 PM

Quick story for you... Here at Santa Clara University, we were collecting donations for Haiti earthquake relief at our basketball games this past week. A university staff member went to drop off the buckets of change at the Red Cross office this morning. When the Red Cross staff member asked which organization had collected the donations, our staff member told him it was Santa Clara Basketball. The Red Cross staff member handed the money back and said, "Santa Clara Basketball? You keep the money, you're a bigger disaster than the Haiti Earthquake!"

 ;) :D

Yes, it's a just a joke... but we suck this year :wf

I dont think Somolia has a functioning, organized gov't so giving them a pass may be prudent.

Then why is the USA still sending aid for that worthless country? If the USA isn't sending aid to them they dont deserve it.

Because we are Americans and we help people in need. The "we shouldnt help them, what do they do for us" attitude is beyond moronic. The fact remains that the US does far more for the world in general than any other nation. Which is what made the Obama apology tour such a disgrace for those of us that understand the previous sentence.

since when do you care about the needs of human beings?

I thought you said 250,000 haitians dieing is a good thing so they can't immigrate their AIDS infested bodies illegally to America?

Arent you tired of America taking care of everyone else. Maybe if we took care of our own thier would be less homeless people on the streets at night. Maybe the needs for food pantries would get lower. But just like every other President has we kiss eveyone else's ass.
