you do realize that our two senators and the governor are all democrats, that most of our pols are dems? you also realize that bill clinton was the governor here before becoming president? how'd that work out for the country overall?

and you have a republican governor who is against gun control. i think you better look around and realize that there are people in your state, as well as every state, who also are anti-abortion, and hunt and own guns. just like there are plenty of people here in the south who are pro-choice, think gay marriage is ok ( as they think the govt should be out of our private lives as much as possible) and are desirous of gun control. you paint a pretty broad picture-and you've probably never been here, and never spoken to anyone who lives here. believe it or not, we have running water and indoor plumbing.
no doubt there are folks where you live scuds who are also very liberal, yet you have a conservative governor-so the POV in your own state is a varied one. yet you don't understand that the same happens all over the country.

If you remember Clinton's 'Bridge to the 21st century' acceptance speech at the '96 DNC he ruined it by droning on for minutes about the great future threat of foreign terrorisim.

Much like with Scuds Dodgers obssesion - few people really cared about the subject at the time - and it was vintage Clinton fear mongering .. albeit at levels that have unbelievably been topped by the Chimp.

I'd love to know how Clinton was supposed to stop an ultra high concept, low tech, type of attack that occured 9 months after he left office.

I guess he could have personally captured and killed Osama bin Laden before the plans were made - probably not an easy task considering he's still at helm of Al Qaeda 7 years after the execution of 9/11.

I reffered to bin Laden a couple of times and compared a poster to him in posts at the old AOL Horse Racing board before the attacts on 9/11. A few people who post here remember them - and people seemed to have no idea who the hell bin Laden was at the time.

The USS Cole attack was overshadowed bigtime in the press by what was going in with the Bush and Gore fiasco. I wish Clinton would have tried to use the USS Cole as an excuse to launch an invasion on a random foreign country that had nothing to do with the incident.

Our Governor is just cheap. That's his one main Republican value. He's been riding that one issue his whole life. I see we are voting blue again, and Obama is down 10 points in OURNECKN'SAW.

and i think mccain altered his message to be more palatable to 'the party'. it worked, he got the nomination- one of my chief problems with having two parties with such power. you have to tie the party line, or they drop you-like with joe lieberman.

i don't think bush has been a good commander in chief, and i think his foreign policy has been horrible.
but, and i know they're on opposite sides of the spectrum...we now have obama, young, not much experience, no foreign policy credentials-so they're touting that he'll have plenty of experienced staff, and that that's why he went with biden. but we had the same argument eight years ago for bush, and that hasn't worked well. altho with the opposing party, would obama be able to handle the task either?

I think Florida is probably McCain's. NEVADA, COLORADO, NEW HAMPSIRE, OHIO, VIRGINIA are the 5 that are close.

Ohio and Virgina are going to be tough states for Obama. Bush carried them both twice - and even though Virgina is trending away from the Republicans - they still haven't lost Virgina since '64.

I tend to believe this also.. and based on McCain's convention speech.. he sounded just like the old McCain of 2000. I loved how he called out the repubs in power.

As far as commander in chief goes, just gonna have to agree to disagree with ateam on this. For I think he's just as wrong with his opinion as he thinks I'm wrong with my opinion.
