What the hell was that Circus with Manny running down the line like he was chasing a six foot spliff during Madi Gras. He can move when he wants to it's just that he is impossible to motivate....

So that's where Chen Ho Park is pitching now??.....not a reliever by nature IMO.

Good Night Scuds,Chuck....enough Senior circuit for me

Yea, KEMP is just dumb like that. That's normal.

Chan Ho getting way too much of dat plate. This ain't minors. That down the center pitch ain't gunna cut it tonite.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-02-2008 01:29 AM

Fell asleep. Didn't miss anything. Same choking offensive bunch. Scoring 1 run is for losers. Bunch of losers. No matter what they do, for 20 years now, they can't get a winning bunch of men together. The fact I fell asleep with 6 outs still to use (down by a run) shows I pretty much knew this bunch was gunna keep laying. They did. They don't fight offensively( Women in white pants n' cleats.) I'm sure Joe gunna say "We hopefully will blah blah blah..."..........He should be saying "We didn't...we aren't...we keep...we're failing" This constant look to the future bullshit is a constant loser trait. Tell people they failed to do what they're paid to do. Don't tell them they're gunna stop fkn up. Tell them they're fkn up.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-02-2008 09:41 AM

They are gunna continue to choke, and under perform until they get a skipper with a hate to lose attitude. Torre is now very accepting to the process of losing. He is so used to it that he forgets what it was like to be dominant. They should keep letting him coddle, and then when his contract is up, offer the job to Gibson(in the Arizona dugout.) That's what I see in this whole situation between these 2 teams. One dugout got a winner in their ear, and the other got a coddling loser in their ear. That's exactly the way they play it out. The last 2 nights, the Dodgers scored 1st, and the D'BACKS scored immediately right back on them. That's an attitude that team has, and the Dodgers don't have the right attitude. THEY JUST DON'T. They have had the attitude of coddling losers Grady/Torre. Their whole attitude is "things are gunna get better." It's a piss poor attitude. It never holds anyone accountable for poor offensive performance, because it always says delay judgement 'til future results come in. How 'bout you go into that fkn' clubhouse. You shut da fkn door. You call out Chan Ho's name, and you tell him he lost half this game. No coddling. Right in front of everybody, you do the unthinkable, and hold him accountable. Then, you tell every s-h-i-t batter that they scored 1 fkn run together, and they lost the other half the game. That's it. Send them on their way, but make sure they know exactly the who and why. There is responibility. Hand it out, and make them own it. I know it's too much to ask from an old man that is constantly in commercials pimping Bigelow Green tea (his green tea of fkn choice for years,) but that's what needs to be done.

It's funny how great managers can become medicore managers overnight.

But Manny being Franny should really help.

Did Manny get ripped for his stroll for the triple or is the Kool Aid still cold enough to drink?

Look at the score. They got 1 g d run. They gave up 2(again ...2 nites... same result.) Where is the problem? It ain't giving up 2. The problem is with any and all creatures responsible for only getting 1 run. This is the g d problem. FKN do not hit. This cancer is never taken out. Just sits up there in that ravine like a massive hunk of dung.

He has been mediocre for about 8 years. He had one of the best teams ever put together(from 1996-1999.) He had the right style to manage dominant talent. He doesn't have the right style to manage lazy people. I have a real disagreement with you over the "great manager" premise. He is gunna have to motivate a very lazy group here. These people don't have the inner desire to fight every nite. It either comes from him and his staff, or this bunch will come 2nd or 3rd each year, because this is a settling bunch of individuals. That group across from them last night has been scoring (in direct counter assault) whenever another team scores on them. Some call that scoring at will, but it isn't. It is scoring when somebody wants to take what you want. They have that desire. That's something Torre and his staff have been unable to instill in people for about 8 years.I've been watching this guy manage for about 2/3 of a season. I've seen most of the games. I once thought the guy had some part in those Yankee Championships. I don't think he had nearly as much to do with those as he had to do with their playoff loses in this century. Now I know why they went out early in those playoff series. He can't motivate talented people that are mentally weak. He has had the talent. He can't motivate it. You can get results from talented people in 2 ways. The Parcells way, or the Lasorda way. Everything else is in between those extremes. He does a half-a-s-s lukewarm Lasorda thing that doesn't work. Worked great with huge talent '96-'99, but hasn't worked before, or since.

Scuds - the Torre Yankees from those years where great teams no question

you had figheters , cone , pettite, boggs, tino , brosius , jeter , posoda , and of course the ultimate gamer in O'neill

He didn't really have to do much in 96. The team had a lead after 7 innings it was lights out with Rivera and Wetland coming in

They got better in '98 and '99 , could have won it all in 97 as well but Rivera got beat by Alomar in game 4

Joe was the perfect fit for that team , he didn't need to get these guys motivated , they all fed off of o'neil and cone

once those guys retired , it became a different team , it seemed to me that Joe's luck ran out when the dbacks beat him in 01. The team just didn't have the internal fire after that loss and it became harder and harder each year to win.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-02-2008 12:10 PM

He is o.k. tactically. Most of his decisions are good ones. Talented people aren't performing to their capability when he is in charge. That's their division rival, and they've scored 2 runs total in the 1st two games of the series against them. This is what took place when he managed the Yanks in the playoffs the last 6-7 years. The teams don't perform well offensively against good pitching. This is the fact. He has had the talent.

I agree with much of this. To add, remember that Torre brought that "national league style" to the american league in 96. Before that, there wasnt a whole lot of small ball being played.

I think many observers underestimate how much impact Zim had on those teams. The Yankees won only one playoff series since he left if im not mistaken. Zim was the tactician of the two.

Jesus.

I was being sarcastic.

80 to 90% of managers are interchangeable..ie.....they would make no difference to a team. The rest split as being incompetent and very good.

Difference makers.

I was driving home from the track and had the treat of listening to VS call the game and ManDog's first dinger as a "blue dude". It was pretty cool to hear the Dodger fans going nuts for the guy. I really do hope it works out for you guys with him because it is something when he wants to produce.

Of course you have to deal with his base running and fielding but somehow when he's as hot as he seems to be getting these last two games it almost seems worth it.....enjoy it Scuds you have suffered the extended power outage of a lifetime with these guys this season. No homers for 5 games....53 in a season so far ....Manny will probably lead the team in homers by season end playing 50 games for ya...

I can't wait until he turns around to play the fly ball off the wall and it ends up 12 rows deep in the bleachers

He already seemed to be doing just that tonight if your watching the game. His throwing style looks more like a Jai Lai guy on crack with that submarine toss to second trying to make up with early delivery what his arm loses in velocity.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-03-2008 12:14 AM

It's the perfect team for him. He has no competition here. We have only one star-quality player(him.) We haven't had a hitter like him in like forever. His talent will be so appreciated here, and this city will be more tolerant of his shortcomings. We put up with Mondesi, and Shaq's big mouth. It's as good a fit as can be found for him. I'm telling you guys that Latins seem to dig playing here. Lima was difficult everywhere, but did well here. I can't remember why he wasn't signed for another year or two. Could of been he gave somebody very young a sexually transmitted disease. I can't remember. It was something like that, but it all came out during the winter. Was never a problem during the season. Was singing the national anthem etc., but never came back.

LOL "Lima Time"

Last "pure hitter" in LA of his caliber was Gary Sheffield.

I agree with your point in comparing M.Ram to Lima though. LA has always embraced talented people who have indiosyncrasies... Without charisma though, you gradually become classified as "batsh^T crazy" even in this town. Again Sheff is a good example.

In retrospect, who would have thought that Gary Sheffield's Topps "future star" baseball card that had him with his 2 front teeth gold capped and inlaid with a "GS" would have foreshadowed his career. :zz:

fat jockeys.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-03-2008 05:59 AM

They've lost 30 games this year when scoring 1 run or less. I think other men could have cut that number down substantially. I don't think it would have taken place if Scioscia was in charge. I don't think it would have taken place if Joe Madden(Rays manager) was in charge. Torre is pretty good with knowing his pitchers, but I don't think he is much on offense. You have to be atleast a quarter ****** to keep playing Andruw. How stupid are you, Joe? He ain't having bad luck. K/ HE WHIFFS on 3 pitches-5 pitches. He is done. Come on. He basically is wearing a fkn moomoo out there. Andruw Trifecta:

1-fat,
2-slow,
3- whiffs like an old woman

Last shot for that loser is to lose weight, and hope he picks up quickness. The bat may feel quicker to him. Try something new. He has no clue what to do. Send him to a fat farm for a month. You can't keep being Joe (quarter ******.) Until he reduces, stop playing him. Being a nice fkn' guy got you a .500 record. Stop being a nice Bigelow Green Tea drinker("been my choice for years.") That commercial is killing me. I can't take it much longer. It's run it's course.

"Not only do I bleed Dodger Blue, I go green. Bigelow Green, that is. It's been my green tea of choice for years now."-JOE.....Please J.C. take some time off from doing the Bewitched thing with bread n' fish, and save us from this one catastrophy.

4 for 5... another homer.

I guess plans to drag the Dodgers into the playoffs.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-04-2008 12:11 AM

Same pattern(so far) for this team. They lost to the 2 good pitchers, and beat up the 2 bad/ mediocre ones. They can make the playoffs when they change the former. Hopefully, Manny will hit good pitchers hard, because these other guys can't. Maybe they will get some easier pitches to hit (if hitting in front of Manny.)This is a teasing bunch like you wouldn't believe. They have days like today(even without Manny,) and then they go up against decent pitching and get 1 run/game.
