I really think he's going to be at Wrigley soon, but what can the dubs give them?

Mortimer 07-03-2008 08:16 AM

Well it's not so obvious. I understood it to work out at 18 over 5...but anyways.

I don't know a lot about other teams, but last night he acted as though he wants to stay.

It's funny how the money is relative to where you want to be. Guess I was wondering if he really wanted out based on uncertainties about...well...if they will be any good or not or if he was just pulling a Thome.

I think he has " they'll have to tear this uniform off me" written all over him.

Mortimer 07-03-2008 08:45 AM

!!

Well I guess not!

In any case...he's gone. They better not go for young talent in return because if they keep Wedge those guys won't see a ml field for 5 years.

This period in my life is now known as "The Indian Years"..

As I said earlier, what else can they get? As I think Horse said, and you, when everyone knows your hand, what can you get in return? Captain Obvious, but a March trade would have realized an immediate return

That may be a good general rule of thumb...but it isn't cast in stone.

For instance...Texas has a plethora of hitting....and a serious lack of pitching.

Mortimer 07-03-2008 08:52 AM

And I don't recall saying that...of course everyone knows he's got to go. The thing is...with a guy like him they are going to be a lot of bidders.

What..The Brandon McCarthey era hasn't started yet? I'd almost feel sorry for him if he was sent to that wasteland.

NL...puh-leeeze...If he and Santana could both be gone from the division, let alone the AL???

Fat Thome won't hit his weight this year.

No one has it .400 since Teddy Ballgame so that isn't saying much;)

Seriously...if they screw this up, it would be bad

Mortimer 07-03-2008 09:11 AM

Remember '05.

They almost did.

Mortimer 07-03-2008 09:39 AM

ya' can't have him

What's Buddy Bell doing these days?

Mortimer 07-03-2008 09:53 AM

I know.

I have to look at Wedge all the time---it's not fair.

Bell retired from baseball managing.

Can you believe they had him as Wedges bench coach the first two years?

Do you see what we put up with around here?
