Someone takes their sports much too seriously.

I could let it go if he typed some opinions making sense. For instance...CC has always been far too fragile upstairs;anyone with common sense knew that 2 to 3 years ago.

If elitist supporters of these elitist games do not follow.....perhaps they should drop back with the myspacers of the world and admit to all their doorknobbery.

Mortimer 04-12-2008 08:56 AM

W L PCT GB POS WC
2007 Cleveland Indians AL C 96 66 .593 -- 1
2006 Cleveland Indians AL C 78 84 .481 18.0 4
2005 Cleveland Indians AL C 93 69 .574 6.0 2
2004 Cleveland Indians AL C 80 82 .494 12.0 3
2003 Cleveland Indians AL C 68 94 .420 22.0 4
2002 Cleveland Indians AL C 74 88 .457 20.5 3
2001 Cleveland Indians AL C 91 71 .562

So Mr. MainCourse would like you to think ,other than 2001 and 2007, CC played on some really bad tams.

You be the judge how bad those teams were in those years.I might add CC continued to disappoint every year in that time frame offered by MainCourse...some of those years he wasn't even the best pitcher on the team.

Nice guy...so was Thome until it came time to use his popularity against the team so as to build out the highest possible contract squeeze he could....where ever that came from.

But at least Thome did not fragment in that last year.

He's a good to very good starting pitcher. His head keeps him from becoming an elite guy.

The Bid 04-12-2008 09:00 AM

Hes certainly not as good as he thinks he is.

Mortimer 04-12-2008 10:04 AM

Well ya know,Bid,I think he has $150,000,000 over 7 or 8 years...or more.....dancing in his head. 90 over 5 just wasn't his thing. Now...realizing he needs another last year to get that or a great year to get even more-----he is now in full spazz.

Predictable.

We got Lofton to solve the left field problem last year.

Now we have decided to start the year with the same problem.

We decided FG was a young guy to stick with in right. They stuck with him for about 8 games. That's the Indians braindust at work again. San Diego lifted Kusmanoff from us and liked him..started him at 3rd. Stuck with over one month at .130. Look at his final numbers. That's what happens when you stick with a guy you believe in.Leftfield is where Wedgie sticks with 2 guys for no apparent reason.

There was some good fortune at work for us last year.

It doesn't appear it will strike in the same place this year.

Hafner=Baerga=BIG TROUBLE!!

Mortimer 04-12-2008 10:10 AM

Before I hear it from a certain party or parties...read my new tag line.

And save your piglet breath.

Mortimer 04-12-2008 10:14 AM

I'm sure it will appear in a week or two.

Mortimer 04-12-2008 10:19 AM

The thing is...I don't like you either.

Mortimer 04-12-2008 10:20 AM

I'd like to welcome our newest member....FizzGirl.

God....where do they come up with these utterly stupid names?

The Bid 04-12-2008 10:26 AM

Baerga reminds me a lot of Heres Johnny. Same bat, same weight problem, same fielding problems. The only difference is Baerga got caught screwing Mesa's wife

Yoy.

But funny!

I liked Buggy. Great hitting 2nd baseman who wore a Dick Stuart model glove. If you recall...his hitting went south----very fast.I think that is what's happened to Hafner. The Indians are going to be hung with hat big contract for too long.

By the way....is that true about Buggy?

Fine. I prefaced after his rookie year he played on some really bad teams and never complained. Was that not true? 4 losing teams in 5 years is not playing on some really bad teams?? I stand corrected on that I guess.

17-5 4.39 ERA 1.35 WHIP 2001 91-71 good team
13-11 4.37 ERA 1.36 WHIP 2002 74-88 really bad team
13-9 3.60 ERA 1.29 WHIP 2003 68-94 really bad team
11-10 4.12 ERA 1.31 WHIP 2004 80-82 bad team
15-10 4.03 ERA 1.25 WHIP 2005 93-69 good team
12-11 3.22 ERA 1.17 WHIP 2006 78-84 bad team
19-7 3.21 ERA 1.14 WHIP 2007 96-66 really good team

I don't see bad performance anywhere...I see really good performance after the 2004 season. I see he played on 2 bad teams, 2 really bad teams, and 2 good teams after his rookie season. I don't see where I was even wrong in what I said. But I am stupid so give me some slack.

God what a mark.

Mortimer 04-12-2008 10:40 AM

( I can't believe the guy actually replies.)

But anyway....

....point of reference.

68-94 is REALLY bad.....but one game shy of its mirror image is.......good.

A doorknob will always reveal itself....given enough time and rope----and directions showing how to use the rope.

horseofcourse 04-12-2008 10:46 AM

My semantics are off. I called really good teams good proving my idiocy (yes, that puts me right back in the vaporization chamber!!) IF you want semantics I'll call 4 of the teams bad and 2 of them good after his rookie year. He went 49-41 on teams a combined 48 games under .500. He went 51-22 on the teams that went 74 games over .500. He has won. His win percentage was NEVER under .500 on teams that couldn't win half their games EVER.

I am not going to trash a guy with 3 bad starts in 2008 as horrible and say it was obviously predictable. His ERA was over 6 after 1 start in his Cy Young season. I guess that means something.

Whatever...another good player in the city you don't like. I don't care. NO one does in all honesty. I'm simply here for entertainment purposes only.

Point of reference...I don't call a team that lost 6 of it's last 7 games to the Royals, Devil Rays and the White Sox AAA team "really good"...when only losing 4 of those 7 puts you in post season. Perhaps you do. Point of reference...which starting pitcher won the only one of those last 7 games???

I am completely in full vapor flames now I think. I have been shown the brilliance by vincent once again.

horseofcourse 04-12-2008 11:12 AM

So long Avery...I have to take a break from the stupid threads today now...it's still morning in the Idaho prairie....perhaps Fausto will pitch well tonight before his head becomes the splattered marshmellow CC model. We can only hope!!

Mortimer 04-12-2008 11:17 AM

:)

Points of reference:

Completely disregards my comment CC is a good to very good pitcher.Perhaps every pitcher to have won Cy Young proved to be inducted into hof.

Uh....no. Does not automatically grant elitism.

Truth in Posting statement----Carmona was better last year. The best does not always win the CY.

Has no comment with regard to my claim stating CC has pressure problems...underacheived by everyones expectations until last year....head finally caught up to stage. Then head went to bigger stage---and collapsed......as could be predicted.

Now dollar sign stage has and will continue to prove stage has become too big, again, for head to catch up to.

MainCourse may be overcooked.

Deeper and deeper.

Mortimer 04-12-2008 11:46 AM

Also tries to imply: You are restricted to stupid threads.I am not...I only come here to look stupid.

Well he's partially right.

Let me ask you all a question.

Does one disallow a stupid person from smart threads...or does one disallow a very smart man from the smart threads?

Do you see the obvious rule of human behavior being applied here?

I know you do.

But it's going to go right through MainCourse' head.

I know you do.

But it's going to go right through MainCourse' head.

Dear God...you are amazing. It's a freaking thread on Cleveland sports!! Very debatable if Carmona was better than Sabathia last year. I look at innings pitched, strikeouts, WHIPS, all you really have is ERA in Fausto's favor. Fausto was every bit as wretched as Sabathia in the LCS last year as well...perhaps even more so. In CCs game 5 he kept them in the game against the best post season pitcher in this decade for 6 innings. In Fausto's game 6 they were out of the game in the 1st inning if I recall. So in the biggest pressure situation available, CC was in all honesty much better than Fausto. So Fausto's head too exploded on the big stage.

I dont' understand the restrictions of you on the threads. I dont' make those decisions. I joke about it because this is where you are. My guess is it is done because you most likely hijacked every thread that existed in the racing sections.

The only rule I am applying here is you continually rip to shreds good, prodcuctive athletes performing in Cleveland and I defend them.

Psychoanalyze all you want...but that's pretty much all that goes on in these threads. I defend, you run out of ammunition and attack me. It's quite fun and I enjoy it or I wouldn't keep doing it. The only time I really understand your posts at all is when you are ripping another Cleve player. The rest I honestly don't understand and your extreme cleverness is right through my head I suppose....hence my Main Course application applied by you. It is very funny.

If this is honestly some test in human behavior by you, more power to you. I hope it's going quite well!! I enjoy the site because it is a lot more healthy to argue about baseball and horse racing than important things, and hence I'll always respond to your musings on Cleveland sports.

My Dad is dead and I live in Idaho, so my outlets for arguing Cleveland sports are not numerous. THese internets provide some of that for me. You are quite knowledgeable on the subject of Cleve sports without question and challenge my opinions well which is why I do reply all the time. I find it invigorating...not a mental challenge or human behavior laboratory. It's pro sports, where differing opinions are pretty much and totally meaningless and harmless. I see things a bit differently than you. I don't think that's a bad thing per se!!!

:D

horseofcourse 04-12-2008 02:38 PM

Now that's a good 2 hours of psycho-analysis post if there ever was one Avery!!! Have at it!!

Let's take a closer look at this mess....shall we?

Should be fun.

Dear God...( He writes letters to God----- )you are amazing.( And brown noses Him.) It's a freaking thread on Cleveland sports!! ( ???..is it me?)Very debatable if Carmona was better than Sabathia last year.( It's not.ERA is best indicator..I'm sure you know that.) I look at innings pitched, strikeouts, WHIPS,( ) all you really have is ERA in Fausto's favor.( :) ) Fausto was every bit as wretched as Sabathia in the LCS last year as well...perhaps even more so.( Writers wrote how cool Carmona handled the buggy game while Yankee pitchers scratched themselves to death. This guy is really gone.) In CCs game 5 he kept them in the game against the best post season pitcher in this decade for 6 innings. In Fausto's game 6 they were out of the game in the 1st inning if I recall. So in the biggest pressure situation available, CC was in all honesty much better than Fausto. So Fausto's head too exploded on the big stage.( Again...not in the opinion of only a small LEGION of experts....the ROOKIE starter faired bettah.)

I dont' understand the restrictions of you on the threads. I dont' make those decisions. I joke about it because this is where you are. My guess is it is done because you most likely hijacked every thread that existed in the racing sections.( Resorting to racial slurs and associated trigger words.)

The only rule I am applying here is you continually rip to shreds good, prodcuctive athletes performing in Cleveland and I defend them.

Psychoanalyze all you want...but that's pretty much all that goes on in these threads.( he meant...."in my head".) I defend, you run out of ammunition and attack me. It's quite fun and I enjoy it or I wouldn't keep doing it.( Read ...death wish here.) The only time I really understand your posts at all is when you are ripping another Cleve player. The rest I honestly don't understand and your extreme cleverness is right through my head I suppose....hence my Main Course application applied by you.( Are you snarfing ,spraying out Pepsi and snorting as much as I am right now??) It is very funny.( I thought so! )

If this is honestly some test in human behavior by you, more power to you. I hope it's going quite well!! I enjoy the site because it is a lot more healthy to argue about baseball and horse racing than important things, and hence I'll always respond to your musings on Cleveland sports. ( Gee.. a direct threat made in public. Needs Darden to protect his self destructive ways.)

My Dad is dead and I live in Idaho, so my outlets for arguing Cleveland sports are not numerous.( My Father is no longer here either...but he still calls me stupid. There's nothing I can do for him about IDaHo) THese internets provide some of that for me. You are quite knowledgeable on the subject of Cleve sports without question ( This is sssso true. ) and challenge my opinions well which is why I do reply all the time. I find it invigorating...not a mental challenge ( Oh?...maybe you should . ) or human behavior laboratory.( Boy is he missing a real opportunity here. ) It's pro sports, where differing opinions are pretty much and totally meaningless and harmless. I see things a bit differently than you. I don't think that's a bad thing per se!!! ( Stop calling me Percy.)
