I dont believe Heroin or amphetimines were ever considered legal. Detection of them was spotty in years past. One of the reason that the sport never had to deal with this problem back in the golden age was that little could be detected. Many of the stars of the 70's raced on far more than hay, oats and water.

And raced, and raced, and raced, and raced.

It is obviously completely different from baseball because one has gambling involved as its primary source of income.

Horse racing needs to find its niche, like minor league hockey. The Wolves here in Chicago(actually Rosemont) sell out constantly and are a good team, they are marketed perfectly. I think we just got a field hockey team also that is seeing some good attendence numbers.

I would tend to think that Horseracing could find better role models than minor or major league hockey.

Have you actually attended the pro field hockey?

I believe you are thinking of the diuretic Lasix, not baking soda.

I'm not sure where you get your medical opinions but if baking soda and confectionary sugar can mask drugs then we can make a whole lot of money helping people pass drug tests. Hell we can make millions selling to PVal and a few baseball players alone.

By the way this is 2007, we are testing at the picogram level and the 'masking' of drugs is no longer really valid in almost all cases.

Haven't you realized by now that many of the people who post on here are authorities on everything.

Well maybe the authorities can help me out with a $100 pick 6 ticket at Hollywood. I promise to give the money back if any of my winners comes up with a positive.

Cool.

Bring back sublimaze and other assorted substances if that's what it takes.

Does it actually make horses sounder?

No, but I have gone to a Wolves game and sat on the glass for $25, I have never been to a hockey game nor do I think hockey is fun, but friends and I needed something to do so we went and it was a great time.

Pro field hockey is getting major marketing time on the radio around here. I think they are called the Shamrocks.

herkhorse 11-13-2007 10:40 PM

do they wear bikinis?

Yes, you're right, not "legal" on the track (although the only way to detect was a veterinarian suspecting use via the horse acting high) but "legal" as in readily available by prescription to the public (I think until about 1915 or so).

:) LOL, have zero knowledge of either, I have watched Lacrosse for like 15 total seconds on FSN before, pretty hilarious sport that involves pads and alot of high sticking and cracking people.

So, you had a great time -- just out of curiosity curiousity -- would you go to another game?

Not to watch hockey but to chill with friend and bust balls and for a change in scenery, yes.

1924 actually....when somone finally realized that it wasn't a great way to cure morphine addiction (which is how it was originally marketed, as a non-addictive substitute)
