How should I take being told to go play in a road? You don't see me crying about that.

This is getting pointless.

Why not get back to what this theard started about, the Met Mile.

I called him an idiot once and that was the end of that. I'm amazed that this has gone on so long.

I guess it depends on how much somebody likes mutton.

I have witnessed DrugS for years several years on the internet, going back to the AOL message boards of long ago. I have never seen anyone who could consistently come up with such astounding insights about horse racing. Racing is a little like baseball--most of the time your are not getting on base. But the DrugSter was like frickin' Ty Cobb or Ted Williams compared to 99% of the posters I've seen.

Since I am new here I cannot be too quick to judge, but I will sit back and see how well the loudmouthed table-pounders here can duplicate his feats. Anybody can cash Derby tickets on the favorite over the 4th and 2nd choices (hell, even I did that--and made a profit). But when you relentlessly tout Invisible Ink in the exotics for weeks, in the face of much ridicule, let me know.

I think DrugS might just be an idiot savant (said adoringly, of course.)

is it really so adoring?:)

I think he'd be the first to glom on to the mentally defective bit, he'd be thrilled.
And he knows I adore him.

The Indomitable DrugS 05-09-2007 04:27 PM

The adoration is mutual.

I like DrugS a lot too. He'll debate you and at least attempt to substantiate his side. Good enough for me, even if we disagree on this or that. That's one of the many things that makes racing great, if we disagree on what hitter in baseball is better you can't do sh!t about it but at the track all opinions can be expressed with a wager.

Now that is what I am talking about!

Don't agree, put your money where your mouth (or keystrokes) is!

Great calves as a man or a woman, too.

DrugS is also lightning quick with a pail when necessary.

And....his opinion on horseracing takes a backseat to nobody.

Hey, I was just commenting on his handicapping acumen. Crossdressing, calves and the rest of that gay parade--I pass.

I think its good news silent name is running and frankly it makes perfect sense, though he has little chance. A son of Sunday Silence if he could win this race would be very attractive as a stallion. Wont happen but I applaud the connections for making two long trips in a row.

declansharbor 05-09-2007 09:33 PM

As i couldn't read this soap opera of a thread, was Spring at Last mentioned??

From what I understand, Silent Name is to be at stud here in the U.S. at Adena Springs after this season... I believe that was the original plan. I think it's great for the American breeding industry. We really don't have enough sons of Sunday Silence here at stud in this country. I know there is one here in Florida (Austinpower), but I highly doubt he's getting the book of mares necessary to be successful. Since Silent Name is more accomplished, perhaps he'll have better luck.

i think he rode an inside track where he dictated the pace and would bea miracle to win, but as others have pointed out its not a great edition.

I would think Chatain is a good play in that race.

So, you equate Graded Stakes in Japan to those in America?

He will probably not get drowned as badly as Cowtown Cat but the results will be similar.

I'm not here to argue but that G1 in '05 was a pretty tough field.

Seeking the Dia and Time Paradox.... not a huge field (8) but a nice win all the same.....

Considering his form going into it, which was bad, his odds of 4:1 are hardly an endorsement of the overall quality of the field.

His record in the Far East is admirable. His win the other day was mediocre. He is extremely unlikely to be a factor in the Met if he should run.

The rail at Belmont on opening day was golden. If people want to believe Utopia is a legit threat in Met Mile why argue? I thought Sun King ran a strong race considering he did not have a listed workout longer than 4 furlongs prior to the Westchester, and it was his first race since the BC Classic. He was also sandwiched between Political Force who came in on him a few times and the golden rail runner Utopia. I think this race was a good prep for Sun King and I believe he'll improve off this race.

Again, I'm not here to argue but you mention Sun King's first race back since the BC?

This was Utopia's first start since World Cup Day of '06 (March 25)...

Just wanted to mention that.

I definitely equate Graded Stakes in Japan to ours here in America, but only on the grass.

Their top dirt races don't compare to ours, and your point is taken.

Do you not consider him to be competitive at all with this field? You think he will pull a Cowtown Cat and get last?

You keep saying " I'm not here to argue " and then you argue with people.

Pretty silly.

There's nothing wrong with arguing....it's what we do here. Just stop pretending you are somehow above it. You obviously aren't. Join the club.

Obviously it will help to see how the field assembles but I honestly doubt he will be competitive.

He doesn't really need the lead, and just took advantage of the dearth of speed in the Westchester, but it was not a strong bunch ( save Sun King ) and Utopia worked out a VERY advantageous trip.

Last? I don't know but I wouldn't be shocked. Though, if Silent Name runs, he may be a strong contender for that spot.

I will happily join the club and argue if anyone cares to argue about Godolphin, Ace, Fallon, or other things i feel strongly about.

You can think that's what i'm doing. That's cool. I'm just tossing in random thoughts as they occur. I think it's fair to say the last time he ran.....

I like this horse. If he runs, he wins, but that's just my feeling. I'm wrong quite a bit of the time.

Soooo..... wanna fight about Godolphin... saviors of international racing? :D
