I hope the surface at Arlington isnt as poor as the one at TWP. I think it will work out well at Arlington with mild weather.

It works very well for me also. I had a run of 10 consecutive days of profits last winter season at Turfway. The preponderance of my wagering dollar goes to the Kentucky tracks and 2006 was another very profitable year for me. Granted I work like hell at it -- and maybe it's the work that overcomes the funky surface.

For the average handicapper however, it's much more difficult. I have several associates who make money consistently everywhere but on the poly -- they won't go near it anymore.

I don't think AP has decided on poly yet -- they're going artificial -- but the actual surface is up for grabs still. Given Churchill and Keeneland's stance maybe AP will go with Cushion or Tapeta.

I have not seen the annoucment yet on the type of surface that they will use. I will be okay with Poly or Cushion. Not sure about the tapeta stuff.
The climate during the Arlington meet will not pose any problem for whatever surface they choose.

The winter environment at Turfway is very harsh, on any surface.
I am not surprised that they are struggling with the track in these conditions and I don't care if it indeed was sold as no problem, a piece of cake.
They still made the right decision in my opinion, they have to just keep working on it.

I do think that most are not putting in the time to make the adjustments for these surfaces. Most of the comments I have heard from people it seems that they just throw up their hands like its a completely unpredictable crapshoot. I haven't found that to be the case for the most part.
I had a great run at Hollywood and many nice days at Turfway. I didn't find I had to work like hell at it either, it just seems like the form holds up in the way in which I am inclined to view races.
