I agree with that. Both of them seemed to "sit out" the Hollywood meet. I saw a few of Bafferts horses but none that really excited me. Headley should have his horses ready for Anita.

And one other thing about the cushion at Hollywood.

"No fatalities were recorded on the main track during racing although three were reported during morning training. During the 2005 meet, seven fatalities were recorded, four in the afternoon."

You sure about that? Seems almost impossible to have a meet where no horses are euthanized on the main track as a result of the races being run.Churchill had one death,and another serious injury in the same race.Totally unrealated to each other,and (of course) neither incident had anything to do with their track there.Things just happen,but you're saying things didn't "just happen" during the main track races on the cushion??

That is correct. There were no fatal breakdowns in the afternoon but there were 3 of them in the morning.

I wonder if the ones in the morning could have been avoided. At least two of the three happened when they were messing with the track. If you remember, the Pletcher horse broke down when the track was all uneven do to them changing the harrows on the tractors. The Frankel horse broke down when they were saturating the track with water.

Two very good observations Rupert. In the care of the horse the cushion track is no substitute proper decision making.

I think the barns that have been training on dirt will be at a disadvantage to the one that have been using Cushion track. I expect Headley will not win alot of races and his horses will look like they are short. Just my guess and thats the way I will bet against him. I cast my vote for cushion track.:eek:

no, delmar and goldent gate. bay meadows is looking at developing, not remaining a track.
